El reinado del venezolano Roger Gutiérrez 26(20KO)-3(2)-1 está a menos de un mes y medio de afrontar una complicadísima prueba de fuego. Y es que la ordenada defensa obligatoria de su cinturón mundial WBA superpluma contra el estadounidense Chris Colbert 16(6KO)-0 ya tiene fecha, siendo esta, según informa Keith Idec, el día 26 de febrero. Entonces el Gutiérrez-Colbert encabezará una velada emitida en Estados Unidos por Showtime.
Aunque Gutiérrez viene de lograr dos de las más importantes victorias de su carrera en enfrentamientos consecutivos ante René Alvarado, en ambos casos hubo controversia por el veredicto a su favor y mostró brechas en su boxeo, algo que contrasta con la trayectoria reciente de Colbert. El invicto en sólo dieciséis peleas ha logrado exclusivamente victorias claras, siendo las tres últimas contra el exmonarca Jezzrel Corrales, contra el duro Jaime Arboleda y contra el exretador mundial y plata olímpico Tugstsogt Nyambayar, ante el que ganó casi todos los episodios el pasado julio.
Por ello, será inevitable que Colbert parta como muy claro favorito en las apuestas por su ventaja en habilidad, velocidad y recursos, a lo que además se suma combatir como local en una velada organizada por su promotora. Así que muchos verán el 26 de febrero como el momento en el que despuntará definitivamente una nueva figura de calibre en la división superpluma.
