El WBC anuncia que Conor Benn, Mauricio Lara, Mario Barrios, etc. salen de su ranking por no inscribirse en programa antidopaje

El Programa de Boxeo Limpio VADA del WBC lleva ya muchos meses en marcha y no es posible que los boxeadores o promotores del top 15 puedan afirmar que no conocen cómo funciona. En el primer año desde su instauración se produjeron algunas salidas de las clasificaciones de boxeadores de renombre que no ingresaron en el programa antidopaje a tiempo o que decían no saber cómo hacerlo, pero esta excusa ya no es posible seguir manteniéndola, menos aún cuando se tiene un promotor que conoce hasta la última norma del boxeo.
Aun así, Matchroom Boxing ha visto cómo cuatro de sus boxeadores han salido de las clasificaciones WBC por no inscribirse en el Programa de Boxeo Limpio. Estos son Conor Benn, que llega de un brutal KO sobre Chris Algieri, Mauricio Lara, que dio una gigantesca sorpresa ante Warringon, Chris Billam Smith y Lee McGregor, estos dos últimos muy cerca de la disputa de una pelea en la cúspide de sus divisiones. A dichos púgiles se suma además un Mario Barrios, miembro de PBC, que está emplazado a una eliminatoria WBC y que está completando en estos momentos una transición del peso superligero al wélter.
Alguien podría afirmar que da igual que no se esté inscrito en el Programa de Boxeo Limpio si por otro lado se ha pagado el año de tests aleatorios de VADA, pero el hecho es que Benn, Lara, Billam Smith, McGregor y Barrios casualmente tampoco participan en este importante sistema antidopaje.
En la nota oficial del WBC se ha afirmado que se realizaron múltiples intentos para que estos boxeadores se inscribiesen al Programa de Boxeo Limpio sin éxito, superando todos ellos la fecha límite.
Evidentemente, no inscribirse en el CBP (siglas en inglés del programa antidopaje WBC) no equivale a un positivo en test antidopaje, ni siquiera confirma que los responsables hayan hecho o piensen hacer trampas. De hecho, se han dado casos en que algunos boxeadores, tras ser criticados por no inscribirse en el programa, lo han hecho tardíamente, aunque sea para mantener las apariencias. Aun así, es inevitable poner cierto asterisco al lado de los nombres de Benn, Lara, Barrios, Billam Smith y McGregor a la vez que nos preguntamos cuál es el motivo de que estos miembros de dos de las promotoras más ricas del mundo y que aspiran a los máximos duelos en sus divisiones hayan desoído repetidas veces las peticiones de un organismo mundial para que rellenen un simple formulario.

The WBC’s VADA Clean Boxing Program has been running for many months now and it is not possible for boxers or promoters of the top 15 to claim that they do not know how it works. In the first year since its establishment there were some exclusions from the rankings of renowned boxers who did not enter the anti-doping program in time or who said that they did not know how to do it, but this excuse is no longer acceptable, even less when you have a promoter who knows every rule of boxing.
Still, Matchroom Boxing has seen four of its boxers removed from the WBC rankings for not signing up for the Clean Boxing Program. These are Conor Benn, who comes from a brutal KO on Chris Algieri, Mauricio Lara, who defeated in a huge upset Josh Warringon, Chris Billam Smith and Lee McGregor, the latter two very close to a fight at the summit of their divisions. To these fighters is also added Mario Barrios, member of PBC, who will fight in a WBC eliminator and who is currently completing a transition from super lightweight to welterweight.
Someone could claim that does not matter if you are not enrolled in the Clean Boxing Program if on the other hand you have paid for the year of random tests of VADA, but the fact is that Benn, Lara, Billam Smith, McGregor and Barrios coincidentally do not participate in this important anti-doping system neither.
In the official WBC press release it has been stated that multiple attempts were made for these boxers to register for the Clean Boxing Program without success, as all of them exceeded the deadline.
Obviously, not enrolling in CBP does not equate to a positive anti-doping test, nor does it even confirm that those responsible have cheated or plan to cheat. In fact, there have been cases in which some boxers, after being criticized for not enrolling in the program, have done so belatedly to maintain appearances. Even so, it is inevitable to put a certain asterisk next to the names of Benn, Lara, Barrios, Billam Smith and McGregor while we wonder why these members of two of the richest promoters in the world and who aspire to the maximum duels in their divisions have repeatedly ignored the requests of a world organization to fill out a simple form.
