Anunciado evento de Top Rank/ESPN para el 19 de marzo con Edgar Berlanga, Xander Zayas y Keyshawn Davis

Hace un par de semanas informamos de que el pegador del peso supermedio Edgar Berlanga había alcanzando un acuerdo para enfrentarse el 19 de marzo al canadiense Steve Rolls en el Hulu Theater del Madison Square Garden de Nueva York, Estados Unidos. Pues bien, ahora este evento ha sido oficialmente confirmado y con ello se han anunciado los protagonistas del respaldo principal.
En el choque coestelar combatirá el jovencísimo prospecto del peso superwélter Xander Zayas, que disputará su primer duelo pactado a ocho rounds contra Quincy LaVallais, mientras que la emisión de la cartelera principal por parte de ESPN se iniciará con el plata olímpico Keyshawn Davis, que peleará contra el mexicano Esteban Sánchez.
En el anuncio, Berlanga señaló:
“Estoy muy emocionado por pelear en mi primer combate estelar en mi ciudad. Es un sueño hecho realidad para un boxeador que representa a New York City y Puerto Rico. No puedo esperar para mostrarle al mundo de qué estoy hecho. Vamos a hacer estallar el techo del Hulu Theater, así que conseguid vuestras entradas pronto y preparar vuestras palomitas para esta actuación”.
Por su parte Rolls afirmó:
“Estoy feliz por estar de vuelta en el Madison Square Garden. El campamento de entrenamiento ha estado yendo bien, y me siento muy fuerte y no tengo otra cosa en mi mente que guerra. Él tiene potencia, pero estaré listo para cualquiera cosa que traiga. Estoy desando que llegue el 19 de marzo. Os veo entonces”.
Respecto a Zayas, estas fueron sus declaraciones:
“Es un honor pelear otra vez en el Madison Square Garden, donde sé que mi gente puertorriqueña vendrá para mostrarme su apoyo. 2021 fue un gran año, pero apunto a un 2022 incluso más grande. Quincy LaVallais es un sólido veterano, así que no puedo pasarlo por alto. Quiero hacer una gran declaración de intenciones el 19 de marzo”.
Davis aseguró que piensa volver a brillar:
“Ofrecí un espectáculo en el Madison Square Garden en diciembre, y voy a hacerlo otra vez. Esteban Sánchez se supone que es mi pelea más dura como profesional, pero será trabajo fácil. Los hermanos Davis van a representar a Norfolk y no dejar duda de que somos el futuro del boxeo”.
Finalmente, Bob Arum advirtió sobre el potencial de estos boxeadores:
“Edgar, Xander y Keyshawn son futuras estrellas libra por libra, y va a ser un noche especial frente a una estadio lleno de espectadores de New York City. Los tres van a estar en los combate más duros de sus respectivas carreras, y preveo que pasarán con nota”.

A couple of weeks ago we reported that super middleweight puncher Edgar Berlanga had reached an agreement to face Canadian Steve Rolls at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, United States, on March 19. Well, now this event has been officially confirmed and with it the protagonists of the main support.
In the co-feature will fight the very young super welterweight prospect Xander Zayas, who will compete in his first duel agreed to eight rounds against Quincy LaVallais, while the opener of the main card by ESPN will be a fight between Olympic silver Keyshawn Davis and Mexican Esteban Sánchez.
In the announcement, Berlanga noted:
“I’m so excited to fight in my first main event in my hometown. It’s a dream come true for a fighter representing New York City and Puerto Rico. I can’t wait to show the world what I’m truly about. We are going to blow the roof off the Hulu Theater, so grab your tickets early and get your popcorn ready for this performance.”
Rolls said:
“I’m happy to be back headlining at Madison Square Garden. Training camp has been going well, and I feel very strong with nothing but war on my mind. Berlanga has power, but I’ll be ready for whatever he brings. I’m looking forward to March 19. I’ll see you then.”
Regarding Zayas, these were his statements:
«It’s an honor to fight again at Madison Square Garden, where I know my Puerto Rican people will come out to show their support. 2021 was a great year, but I’m looking forward to an even bigger 2022. Quincy LaVallais is a solid veteran, so I can’t overlook him. I want to make a major statement on March 19.»
Davis said he plans to shine again:
“I put on a show at Madison Square Garden in December, and I’m going to do it again. Esteban Sanchez is supposed to be my hardest fight as a pro, but it’s going to be easy work. The Davis Brothers are coming to represent Norfolk and leave no doubt that we are the future of boxing.”
Finally, Bob Arum warned about the potential of these boxers:
“Edgar, Xander and Keyshawn are future pound-for-pound superstars, and it will be a special evening in front of a sold-out New York City crowd,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “All three are in there with the toughest fights of their respective careers, but I expect them to pass with flying colors.”
