El olímpico Gabil Mamedov debutó como profesional con victoria sobre el duro Vyacheslav Gusev

Otro insigne boxeador amateur ruso se ha añadido al pugilismo profesional. Este es el olímpico en Tokyo 2020, y doble plata europeo, Gabil Mamedov 1(0KO)-0, que este lunes realizó su debut en el boxeo rentado en la velada organizada por Dynamo Boxing. Su rival fue el duro y fogueado ruso Vyacheslav Gusev 25(8KO)-8 que, pese a contar con experiencia ante oponentes como Gary Russell Jr. o el exretador mundial Guillaume Frenois y llegar de una derrota dividida ante el prospecto Vladimir Sarukhanyan, fue ampliamente superado por Mamedov.
Situado en el centro del ring y sin mostrarse demasiado activo de piernas, Mamedov martilleó con su jab y escogió el momento para sacar golpes de poder en uppercut, hook y directo. El experimentado Gusev se movió a su alrededor, entró y salió y buscó manos para intentar sorprender, pero los bloqueos de Mamedov funcionaron bien y su respuesta fue lo suficientemente contundente como para cortar la progresión de su rival. Y es que los ganchos al hígado, los uppercuts en corta y las derechas en media-larga de Mamedov fueron puños tan precisos y veloces que obligaron a Gusev a detener sus avances y reposicionarse.
Algunas de las intentonas de Gusev fueron bastante buenas, como algunos cruzados diestros astutamente medidos, pero Mamedov replicó con dureza y calma, logrando en el quinto asalto dañar un tanto a su contrincante con crochés. De todos modos, el encajador Gusev en líneas generales soportó el castigo con mucha entereza, armó contraofensivas con su uno-dos-hook y con ritmo no se dejó desbordar, perdiendo claramente pero sin pasar por apuros críticos y dando diez asaltos muy útiles al debutante.
Quizás con más movilidad podría resultar más eficaz y reducir riesgos, pero Mamedov pareció muy sólido en su primer combate profesional, de modo que es evidente que tiene mucho potencial para llegar a ser en el futuro un boxeador relevante en la parte alta del peso ligero.

Another distinguished Russian amateur boxer has joined the professional ranks, as the Olympic in Tokyo 2020, and double European silver medalist, Gabil Mamedov 1(0KO)-0 made his debut this Monday in the undercard of the evening organized by Dynamo Boxing. His rival was the tough and resistant Russian Vyacheslav Gusev 25(8KO)-8 who, despite having experience against opponents like Gary Russell Jr. or former world title challenger Guillaume Frenois and coming off a split loss against prospect Vladimir Sarukhanyan, was widely defeated by Mamedov.
Standing in the center of the ring not too active with his legs, Mamedov jabed and chose the moment to unleash power shots on uppercut and hook. The experienced Gusev moved around him, going in and out selecting his punches trying to surprise, but Mamedov’s blocks worked well and his response was hard enough to cut off his opponent’s progression. Mamedov’s hooks to the liver, uppercuts at close range and straight right at mid-long range were so precise and fast that they forced Gusev to stop his advance and reposition himself.
Some of Gusev’s offensive attempts were quite good, as for example smartly measured right hooks, but Mamedov replied strong and calm, managing in the fifth round to damage his opponent with hooks. In any case, Gusev, a boxer with great chin, generally withstood the punishment with great fortitude, offered counter-offensives with his one-two-hook and with his rythm did not let himself be overwhelmed, losing clearly but without going through critical troubles and giving ten very useful rounds to the debutant.
Perhaps with more mobility he could be more effective and reduce risks, but Mamedov seemed very solid in his first professional fight, so it is evident that he has a lot of potential to become a relevant boxer in the top part of the lightweight division in the future.
