El muy prometedor peso supermedio ruso Pavel Silyagin tuvo otra estupenda actuación ante el duro Nizar Trimech, a quien le asestó la primera derrota antes del límite de su carrera con un knockout en el sexto asalto. Así, Silyagin está a un paso del top 3 y de las pugnas en la cumbre.

Jueves 3 de febrero
Los hermanos Dauhaliavets tuvieron actuaciones dispares. Por un lado el peso supermedio Mikhail Dauhaliavets 6(6KO)-0 sólo necesitó dos asaltos para terminar con Víctor Hugo “El Estilista” Exner 7(2KO)-9(4)-1. Por el otro, el superligero Yauheni Dauhaliavets 8(4KO)-0 a duras penas pudo sacar un triunfo unánime ajustado (doble 96-94 y un extraño 98-94) ante Jonathan José “El Potro” Eniz 27(11KO)-17(4)-1. Curiosamente estos resultados fueron un reflejo de cómo están siendo por ahora las carreras de esos púgiles bielorrusos: Mikhail impone su pegada pelea tras pelea, Yauheni ha estado al borde de la derrota en varias ocasiones y parece a un paso adelante de terminar siendo superado.
Viernes 4 de febrero
Dado que la cartelera del Dolton-Pendarvis terminó cancelada y Pablo Macario fue baja (positivo en PCR) de cara a su combate contra José Luis Russell, en el viernes sólo quedó un resultado mencionable. En él, el titular de Argentina del peso ligero Claudio Gabriel Daneff 14(8KO)-2(1)-1 cumplió con lo esperado y sólo necesitó tres rounds para anotarse un KOT sobre Gustavo Armando Pereyra 11(3KO)-14(6)-4, quedando a la espera de que se le confirme una pelea significativa para su próxima subida al ring.
Sábado 5 de febrero
El exmonarca mundial Keith Thurman retornó a la actividad derrotando a Mario Barrios por amplia decisión unánime, mostrando además un buen rendimiento en esta eliminatoria WBC wélter.

Más amplia aún resultó la victoria del campeón WBA del peso pluma Leo Santa Cruz, que también regresó al cuadrilátero evidenciando su superioridad sobre Keenan Carbajal, al que derrotó con máximas puntuaciones.

El peso superwélter Jesús Ramos tuvo asaltos con exigentes intercambios ante el valeroso Vladimir Hernández, pero finalmente consiguió encontrar la mano definitoria e imponerse por KOT en el sexto episodio.

En la cartelera principal del Thurman-Barrios sólo hubo un resultado controvertido, la victoria dividida de Luis Nery ante Carlos Castro. Y es que Castro cayó a la lona en el primer asalto pero logró remontar por la muy limitada actividad ofensiva que Nery terminó teniendo.

Respecto a la velada de DAZN, el insigne prospecto Jesse Rodríguez demostró que estaba más que a la altura del reto que suponía Carlos Cuadras, a quien derribó y derrotó por clara decisión unánime para irrumpir en la cumbre del peso supermosca. En el respaldo Jamie Mitchell y Khalil Coe lograron sencillísimas victorias, Fernando Díaz se levantó de la lona para ganar a los puntos y Raymond Ford sumó triunfo polémico contra Edward Vázquez.

Aunque se anotó cuatro cuentas (una de ellas erróneamente realizada por el árbitro) y logró un triunfo unánime, el peso medio Chris Eubank Jr. terminó perdiendo casi la mitad de los episodios ante Liam Williams, ante el que tuvo una cantidad ridícula de gestos fanfarrones y ante el que pasó muchos minutos corriendo por el ring sin pretender siquiera atacar o errando golpes. En el semifondo, Claressa Shields dominó su combate contra Ema Kozin.

En cuanto al resto del respaldo, la olímpica Caroline Dubois debutó como profesional con victoria sobre Vaida Masiokaite, Chris Jenkins derrotó de forma unánime al excampeón Julius Indongo y el modesto Shane Gill venció contra pronóstico al invicto Steve Robinson.

Después de varias cancelaciones, en el sábado destacaron sólo estos otros resultados:
-Con una decisión técnica dividida (48-46, 48-47 y 47-48), Kyosuke Sawada 15(6KO)-2(1)-2 derrotó a Kenshin Oshima 7(3KO)-2-1 y conquistó el vacante cinturón de Japón del peso gallo, mayor éxito de su carrera que podría ser fugaz, ya que da la sensación de que tiene un nivel inferior al de la cumbre de la división en su país.
-El cinturón de campeón de Italia del peso semipesado fue recuperado por Vigan Mustafa 24(9KO)-5(1) con un triunfo a los puntos sobre Luca Spadaccini 7(3KO)-2-3, estando por ver qué regularidad muestra esta vez el titular.
-En una muestra más de su pegada, el peso superligero argentino José Angel Gabriel “Sansón” Rosa 12(10KO)-0 terminó con el brasileño Paulo César Galdino 11(8KO)-5(3) por KOT en el octavo asalto, pareciendo que a sus 21 años está progresando de forma sólida y prometedora y que es un púgil a seguir en el circuito argentino.
-Finalmente fue en este día en el que se produjo el aplazado duelo del peso medio entre Meiirim Nursultanov 16(9KO)-0 y Andrey Sirotkin 19(7KO)-2(2)-1, choque en el que el primero de ambos venció por abandono en el quinto asalto. Nursultanov conseguirá posiblemente un buen posicionamiento en las listas tras este triunfo, algo que merece puesto que da la sensación de que podría vencer a bastantes de los púgiles clasificados.
Domingo 6 de febrero
La revancha por el mundial IBF del peso mínimo entre René Mark Cuarto y Pedro Tadurán tenía como objetivo resolver una controversia, si bien creó otra nueva. Y es que Cuarto, que perdió dos puntos por un cabezazo deliberado, terminó venciendo por decisión técnica (65-65, 65-64 y 66-64) después de que Tadurán sufriese una grave brecha tras otros dos cabezazos, en estas ocasiones considerados “involuntarios”. Además, contra Tadurán se contabilizaron dos knockdowns que en ambos casos parecieron empujones. En fin, Cuarto sigue reinando pero ni se ha zanjado la polémica ni ha demostrado ser en absoluto un sólido monarca mundial.

Monday January 31
The very promising Russian super middleweight Pavel Silyagin put in another great performance against the tough Nizar Trimech, who suffered in the sixth round the first knockout loss of his career. Thus, Silyagin is one step away from the top 3 and from the fights at the top. Read more following the link.
On the undercard took place the professional debut of Russian Olympic Gabil Mamedov, who showed his potential by defeating the competent Vyacheslav Gusev by unanimous decision. Read more following the link.
Thursday February 3
The Dauhaliavets brothers had different performances. On the one hand, the super middleweight Mikhail Dauhaliavets 6(6KO)-0 only needed two rounds to defeat Víctor Hugo “El Estilista” Exner 7(2KO)-9(4)-1. On the other hand, the super lightweight Yauheni Dauhaliavets 8(4KO)-0 was barely able to get a narrow unanimous win (double 96-94 and a strange 98-94) against Jonathan José “El Potro” Eniz 27(11KO)-17( 4)-1. Curiously, these results were a reflection of how the careers of these Belarusian fighters are going: Mikhail imposes his power fight after fight, Yauheni has been on the verge of losing on several occasions and seems a step forward away from ending up being defeated.
Friday February 4
The Dolton-Pendarvis card was canceled and Pablo Macario was unable to fight (PCR positive) against José Luis Russell, so only one mentionable bout remained on Friday. In it, Argentine lightweight titleholder Claudio Gabriel Daneff 14(8KO)-2(1)-1 only needed three rounds to score a TKO over Gustavo Armando Pereyra 11(3KO)-14(6) -4, so now he waits for a significant fight to be confirmed for his next match.
Saturday February 5
Former world champion Keith Thurman returned to activity defeating Marios Barrios by wide unanimous decision and with a good performance in a WBC welterweight eliminator. Read more following the link.
Even more lopsided was the victory of the WBA featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz, who also returned to the ring showing his superiority over Keenan Carbajal, whom he defeated with maximum difference in the scorecards. Read more following the link.
Super welterweight Jesús Ramos had tough rounds with exchanges against the courageous Vladimir Hernández, but finally managed to find the definitive punch and prevailed by TKO in the sixth episode. Read more following the link.
On the main card of the Thurman-Barrios there was only one controversial result, the split decision victory of Luis Nery against Carlos Castro. The then undefeated Castro fell to the canvas in the first round but shortened the distance in the scorecards due to the very limited offensive activity that Nery ended up having. Regarding the DAZN evening, the prospect Jesse Rodríguez showed he was more than up to the challenge posed by Carlos Cuadras, whom he knocked down and defeated by a clear unanimous decision to break into the super flyweight elite. On the undercard Jamie Mitchell and Khalil Coe achieved very easy victories, Fernando Díaz got up from the canvas to win on points and Raymond Ford added to his record a controversial victory against Edward Vázquez. Though he scored four knockdowns (one of them a push) and obtained a unanimous win, middleweight Chris Eubank Jr. ended up losing almost half of the rounds to Liam Williams, against whom he had a ridiculous amount of cocky gestures and against whom he spent many minutes running around the ring without intending to attack or missing blows. As for the rest of the support, Olympic Caroline Dubois made her pro debut with a victory over Vaida Masiokaite, Chris Jenkins unanimously defeated former champion Julius Indongo and underdog Shane Gill beat undefeated Steve Robinson by upset. Read more following the link.
After several cancellations, only these other results stood out on Saturday:
-With a split technical decision (48-46, 48-47 and 47-48), Kyosuke Sawada 15(6KO)-2(1)-2 defeated Kenshin Oshima 7(3KO)-2-1 and conquered the vacant Japanese bantamweight belt, biggest success of his career that could not last long, as the impression is that he has a lower level than the top of the division in his country.

-In one more example of his punch power, the Argentine super lightweight José Angel Gabriel “Sansón” Rosa 12(10KO)-0 finished his bout against the Brazilian Paulo César Galdino 11(8KO)-5(3) by TKO in the eighth round. With just 21 years, Rosa is progressing solidly and promisingly and he is a fighter to follow on the Argentine scene.
-Finally it was on this day that the postponed middleweight duel between Meiirim Nursultanov 16(9KO)-0 and Andrey Sirotkin 19(7KO)-2(2)-1 took place, a clash in which the former won by retirement in the fifth round. Nursultanov likely will get a good position in the rankings after this win, something he deserves, as it looks like he could beat quite a few of the ranked fighters.
Sunday February 6
The IBF minimumweight world championship rematch between René Mark Cuarto and Pedro Tadurán had the objective of resolving a controversy, although it created a new one. Cuarto, who lost two points due to a deliberate headbutt, ended up winning by technical decision (65-65, 65-64 and 66-64) after Tadurán suffered a cut after two other headerbutts, on these occasions considered «accidental». In addition, Tadurán suffered two knockdowns that in both cases seemed pushes. In short, Cuarto continues to reign but the controversy has not been settled nor has he proven to be a solid world champion at all.
