Los dos primeros cruces que se anunciaron como parte del respaldo principal del evento Errol Spence vs. Yordenis Ugás no estaban a la altura de un PPV, puesto que tenían abrumadores favoritos. Sin embargo, a la tercera va la vencida, y ya se ha confirmado una pugna de élite que integrará el segmento principal de esta cartelera, que se producirá el 16 de abril en el AT&T Stadium de Arlington, Estados Unidos.
Esta será la excelente eliminatoria WBA del peso wélter entre los invictos Eimantas Stanionis y Radzhab Butaev, dos fortísimos y agresivos boxeadores que deberían ofrecer una fantástica batalla. Y es que es casi imposible que, por sus formas de combatir, estos púgiles no generen una gran cantidad de duros encontronazos e intercambios. Además, el ganador se convertirá en uno de los aspirantes obligatorios del ganador del Spence-Ugás, pudiéndose hacer comparaciones entre ambos combates en el mismo evento.
Se debe recordar que Stanionis y Butaev ya estaban emplazados a enfrentarse al campeón Ugás, pero que éste, consciente de que ambos presentan un estilo físico que no le resultaría nada fácil, hizo todo lo posible para evitar los combates, amenazando primero con abandonar sus coronas y posteriormente pagando un step-aside a Stanionis. En cualquier caso, aunque del choque Ugás-Stanionis y del combate entre el ganador de este y Butaev habría salido finalmente un rival muchísimo más duro para Spence, nos deberemos conformar con dos peleas, Spence-Ugás y Stanionis-Butaev, de gran calidad y que deberían resultar muy interesantes.

The first two matchups that were announced as part of the Errol Spence vs. Yordenis Ugás main card were not at the level of a PPV, since they had overwhelming favorites. However, third time’s a charm, and an elite battle has already been confirmed for the main segment of this event, which will take place on April 16 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, United States.
This will be the excellent WBA welterweight eliminator between the undefeated Eimantas Stanionis and Radzhab Butaev, two very strong and aggressive boxers who should offer a fantastic battle. Due to their ways of fighting, it is almost impossible that these boxers do not generate a large number of hard exchanges. Additionally, the winner will become one of the mandatory challengers for the winner of the fight Spence-Ugás, so comparisons could be made between the two bouts at the same bill.
It must be remembered that Stanionis and Butaev were already in position to face the champion Ugás, but that the latter, aware that both present a physical style that would not be easy for him, did everything possible to avoid these fights, first threatening to vacate his belt and later paying a step-aside to Stanionis. In any case, although the Ugás-Stanionis clash and the fight between the winner of this bout and Butaev would have produced a much tougher opponent for Spence, we will have to settle for two fights, Spence-Ugás and Stanionis-Butaev, of great quality and which should be very interesting.
