Durante meses la compañía Probellum ha estado acumulando y acumulando boxeadores a través de constantes fichajes, aunque todavía no ha organizado un gran número de insignes eventos propios. Esto empezará a cambiar este fin de semana, cuando ofrecerá dos carteleras en días consecutivos que contarán con nombres destacados y evidentes alicientes. Centrándonos en el primero de los eventos, que tendrá lugar el viernes en el Duty Free Tennis Stadium de Dubái, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, en él destaca el excelente choque del peso superpluma entre el estadounidense O’Shaquie Foster 18(11KO)-2 y el tayiko Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov 18(10KO)-0.
Según ha confirmado Probellum, el duelo será una eliminatoria semifinal WBC, o sea que en principio sí se ejecutará el planeado torneo por el Consejo y el ganador de este choque se tendrá que medir al oro olímpico Robson Conceiçao, que llega de vencer otra eliminatoria semifinal ante Xavier Martínez. En cualquier caso, el Foster-Yaqubov es un gran enfrentamiento y no necesita etiquetas para acumular más interés.
Por un lado, Foster es un muy buen boxeador móvil que impresionó al público con sus actuaciones ante Jon Fernández y Miguel Román, duro boxeador al que noqueó en su último combate tras imponerse tanto con espacios como en los intercambios cuerpo a cuerpo. Por otro lado, Yaqubov es un púgil tremendamente preciso, con una sensacional capacidad para contragolpear y muy buena gestión táctica, que ha mostrado ante duras piedras de toque.
Con una ventaja en experiencia de calidad, talento natural y explosividad, muchos verán a Foster como claro favorito ante un Yaqubov sin poner a prueba al máximo nivel. No obstante, aunque Foster perfectamente podría volver a superar las expectativas con una actuación impresionante, lleva casi un año y medio inactivo (su rival ha peleado dos veces en ese margen de tiempo) y Yaqubov es un zurdo muy astuto y con gran timing. Por ello, si bien las dimensiones de Foster y su destreza podrían darle la victoria si tiene un boxeo conservador y ágil, si es inconsistente tácticamente, no gestiona bien su defensa y se expone a contragolpes, la oportuna selección de puños y la eficacia de un Yaqubov más rodado sin duda podrían terminar en una “sorpresa”.
Mossely en el choque estelar
El combate arriba mencionado debería haber sido el estelar, pero por motivos propagandísticos lo será finalmente el duelo del peso ligero entre la francesa Estelle Yoka Mossely 9(1KO)-0, oro en los Juegos Olímpicos, y la argentina Yanina del Carmen Lescano 10(2KO)-1. La idea de Probellum es vender que este es el primer mundial femenino que encabeza una velada en Oriente Próximo, si bien, sin entrar en demasiado detalle, el hecho es que el duelo no será un mundial, sino que ambas pelearán por el cinturón de un organismo no reconocido (la repulsiva IBO).
Por lo demás, aunque tiene un par de actuaciones meritorias, Lescano es sobre el papel la no favorita con mucha diferencia ante la veloz Mossely, por lo que si la sudamericana quiere lograr el improbable triunfo contra pronóstico necesitará un gran salto en su nivel competitivo, acometer con todas sus fuerzas, buscar crear un duelo incomodo y, sobre todo, estar atenta para aprovechar las inadecuadas transiciones a posición defensiva que muchas veces realiza la invicta tras lanzar una ofensiva.
Nuevos combates para Jalolov, Carroll y Masoud
En el respaldo combatirán esencialmente prospectos, siendo el más destacado de ellos el oro olímpico, y peso pesado profesional, Bakhodir Jalolov 9(9KO)-0. Este boxeador uzbeko peleará en su primer choque pactado a ocho asaltos en un test a su pegada contra el duro polaco, de récord engañoso, Kamil Sokolowski 11(4KO)-25(3)-2, que perdió de forma controvertida con David Adeleye y que aguantó todos los rounds ante Otto Wallin, Vladyslav Sirenko, Martin Bakole, David Price, etc.
Por otro lado, el exretador mundial irlandés Jono Carroll 21(6KO)-2-1, 2º WBA superpluma, se mantendrá listo para una gran pugna en el futuro próximo disputando su cuarto combate en los últimos 12 meses ante el serbio Serif Gurdijeljac 21(8KO)-6(3). Además, el muy interesante prospecto supergallo Shabaz Masoud 9(2KO)-0 seguirá acumulando experiencia ante el exretador mundial francés Yoan Boyeaux 43(26KO)-6(1), cuya única derrota antes del límite llegó contra Naoya Inoue.

For months Probellum has been accumulating boxers through constant signings, although it has not yet organized a large number of great events of its own. This will begin to change this weekend, when the company will offer two bills on consecutive days that will feature prominent names and interesting bouts. In the first of the cards, which will take place on Friday at the Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, stands out the excellent super featherweight clash between the American O’Shaquie Foster 18(11KO)-2 and the Tajik Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov 18(10KO)-0.
As confirmed by Probellum, the duel will be a WBC semifinal eliminator, so in principle the tournament planned by the Council will be executed and the winner of this match will have to face the Olympic gold medalist Robson Conceiçao, who comes from winning another semifinal eliminator against Xavier Martínez. Regardless of the consequences of the clash, the Foster-Yaqubov is a great match and doesn’t need anything else to increase it’s interest.
On the one hand, Foster is a very good dynamic boxer who impressed the public with his performances against Jon Fernández and Miguel Román, a tough boxer whom he knocked out in his last bout after being superior both fighting with distance and exchanging at close range. On the other hand, Yaqubov is a tremendously precise fighter, with a sensational ability to counterpunch and very good tactical management, which he has shown against some hard opponents.
With an advantage in quality experience, natural talent and explosiveness, many will see Foster as the clear favorite against Yaqubov, who is untested at the highest level. However, while Foster could very well exceed expectations again with an impressive performance, he has been inactive for almost a year and a half (his rival has fought twice in that time frame) and Yaqubov is a very astute southpaw with great timing. For this reason, although Foster’s size and skill could give him the victory if he doesn’t take risks and uses an agile boxing while his rival doesn’t show weakness, if he is tactically inconsistent, does not manage his defense well and exposes to counterattacks, the opportune selection of punches and the effectiveness of Yaqubov could undoubtedly end in an “upset”.
Mossely in the main clash
The fight mentioned above should have been the main one, but for propaganda reasons it will finally be the lightweight duel between the French Estelle Yoka Mossely 9(1KO)-0, Olympic gold medalist, and the Argentine Yanina del Carmen Lescano 10( 2KO)-1. Probellum’s idea is to tell the public that this is the first women’s world championship main event of an evening in the Middle East, although, without going into too much detail, the fact is that the duel will not be a world championship, as the boxers will fight for the belt of an unrecognized organization (the repulsive IBO).
In any case, although she has a couple of meritorious performances, on paper Lescano is clearly the underdog against the speedy Mosely, so if the South American wants to achieve the improbable victory by upset she will need a big jump in her level, attack with all her strength, try to create an uncomfortable duel and, above all, be attentive to take advantage of the inadequate transitions to defensive position that the undefeated often makes after launching an attack.
New fights for Jalolov, Carroll and Masoud
In the undercard will essentially fight prospects, the most prominent of them the Olympic gold medalist Bakhodir Jalolov 9(9KO)-0. This Uzbek heavyweight will fight in his first match scheduled for eight rounds in a test to his punching power against the tough Pole, with a misleading record, Kamil Sokolowski 11(4KO)-25(3)-2, who controversially lost to David Adeleye and who reached the final bell against Otto Wallin, Vladyslav Sirenko, Martin Bakole, David Price, etc.
On the other hand, former world challenger Jono Carroll 21(6KO)-2-1, 2nd WBA super featherweight, will remain ready for an important bout in the near future fighting in his fourth match in the last 12 months against Serbian Serif Gurdijeljac 21( 8KO)-6(3).
