Alexis Rocha vs. Blair Cobbs nuevo combate estelar de velada de DAZN del sábado. McKinson se enfrentará al sustituto Juan Antonio Pérez

El destacado prospecto del peso wélter Vergil Ortiz Jr. ha sido baja para el evento de DAZN de este sábado después de que se le diagnosticase una enfermedad (rabdomiólisis), para la cual empezará ahora un tratamiento que se desconoce por el momento cuánto durará. Mientras se aguardan más noticias, el hecho es que la velada en la que iba a participar seguía en pie, por lo que Golden Boy Promotions tuvo que buscarle un sustituto para medirse a Michael McKinson.
Siendo el combate en la división del peso wélter, en la que hay en activo en torno a 2.000 boxeadores, no podía ser muy difícil encontrar un remplazo competente, incluso aunque faltasen pocos días para el choque. Sin embargo, Golden Boy Promotions parecía que intentaba burlarse del público, puesto que escogió tres oponentes que la Comisión Atlética del Estado de California tuvo que rechazar. Uno de ellos fue el veterano Juan Carlos Salgado, boxeador con un récord parcial de 8 derrotas y 1 victoria en sus últimos 9 combates y que no boxea desde que fue noqueado rápidamente por Vergil Ortiz en el año 2018, hace cerca de cuatro años.
Finalmente, la comisión terminó conformándose con aprobar como rival de McKinson al mexicano Jesús Antonio “Ricky” Campos, que no boxea desde hace cerca de dos años y medio pero que al menos es voluntarioso y resistente. De todos modos, el McKinson-Campos es teóricamente un choque inferior al Alexis Rocha vs. Blair Cobbs que se iba a producir como semifondo, así que Golden Boy ha decidido que ambos duelos intercambien sus posiciones, de modo que ahora el encuentro estelar de la velada de DAZN será el Rocha-Cobbs. En el respaldo participarán púgiles como Bektemir Melikuziev o Azat Hovhannisyan, pero en combates en los que serán muy claros favoritos.

However, Golden Boy Promotions seemed to be trying to make fun of the public, since they chose three opponents that the California State Athletic Commission had to reject. One of them was the veteran Juan Carlos Salgado, boxer with a partial record of 8 losses and 1 victory in his last 9 fights and that has not boxed since he was quickly knocked out by Vergil Ortiz in 2018, about four years ago.
Finally, the commission ended up settling for approving as McKinson’s rival the Mexican Jesús Antonio “Ricky” Campos, who hasn’t boxed for nearly two and a half years but who is at least tenacious and resistant. In any case, McKinson-Campos is theoretically a match of lower level than the Alexis Rocha vs. Blair Cobbs that was going to be the co-feature, so Golden Boy has decided that both duels will exchange their positions, and now the main fight of the DAZN event will be the Rocha-Cobbs. Bektemir Melikuziev and Azat Hovhannisyan will participate in the support, but in bouts in which they will be very clear favorites.
