Antes del combate la británica Savannah “Silent Assassin” Marshall 12(10KO)-0 señaló que no pretendía superar la actuación de Claressa Shields ante la excampeona mundial belga Femke Hermans 12(5KO)-3, declaraciones que parecieron cuanto menos difíciles de creer. En cualquier caso, fuese este o no su objetivo, Marshall hizo toda una declaración de intenciones noqueando brutalmente en el tercer round a Hermans, que en cambio aguantó los diez asaltos y generó algunos momentos incómodos cuando se enfrentó a Shields.
Como siempre, Marshall salió al combate con calma, probando a su adversaria con movimientos de hombro y ciertos jabs. Por su parte, Hermans intentó estar activa de piernas y consiguió conectar algunos directos poco potentes, algo que también logró contra Shields. Sin embargo, pronto Marshall comenzó a ir escogiendo sus golpes de poder que, ya fuesen con largos rectos diestros o con curvos en corta, empezaron a dibujar un panorama amenazante que no tardaría en dar paso a la absoluta ruptura del enfrentamiento.
Después de que el aumentado empuje ofensivo de Marshall y los reforzados intentos de Hermans por no dar facilidades diesen lugar a un poco de desorden y algunos agarres, al final del tercer episodio la belga quedó cerca de una esquina y logró evitar una derecha, aunque no el potentísmo gancho zurdo posterior que le impactó alzándose. Este puño de gran dureza hizo que Hermans se desplomase sobre el tapiz sin posibilidad de continuar, tardando unos minutos en recuperarse.
Como sucedió tras el Shields-Kozin, Savannah Marshall y Claressa Shields tuvieron un cara a cara en el que cruzaron palabras con bastante tensión, colaborando para tratar de generar más expectación para el enfrentamiento que en teoría disputarán a continuación. Y es que, en principio, la titular WBO Marshall y la campeona WBA-WBC-IBF Shields se enfrentarán en una unificación total del peso medio hacia el mes de junio o julio, pugna entre las más esperadas del boxeo femenino actual y que se presenta como un muy interesante cruce entre la potencia y la eficacia de la británica y la velocidad y la habilidad de la estadounidense.

Before the fight, the British Savannah “Silent Assassin” Marshall 12(10KO)-0 pointed out that she did not intend to surpass the performance of Claressa Shields against the Belgian former world champion Femke Hermans 12(5KO)-3, statements that seemed difficult to believe. This hard punch caused Hermans to fall on the mat with no possibility of continuing, needing a few minutes to recover.
As it happened after the Shields-Kozin, Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields had a face to face in which they exchanged words, collaborating to try to generate more expectation for the fight that in theory they will have next. In principle, the WBO title holder Marshall and the WBA-WBC-IBF champion Shields will face each other in a total unification of the middleweight division towards the month of June or July. This bout, one of the most anticipated in the female boxing, looks like a very interesting clash between the power and effectiveness of the British and the speed and skill of the American.
