PBC gana subasta para el mundial superligero Josh Taylor vs. Alberto Puello con puja de 200.000 dólares

Hace unas horas se ha producido una subasta para el enfrentamiento mundialista ordenado por la WBA entre Josh Taylor y Alberto Puello. En ella, la compañía TGB Promotions, una de las empresas satélite de Premier Boxing Champions, ha ganado los derechos de organización del duelo con una puja de 200.000 dólares en representación de Puello. Esta cantidad fue la única presentada, ya que Top Rank (compañía a la que pertenece Taylor) no pujó.
Debido a esto último, o sea a que Bob Arum ni siquiera realizó propuesta, se están produciendo muchas especulaciones, afirmando incluso algunos que Top Rank ha retirado su apoyo a Taylor por ser uno de los púgiles que ha tenido interacción con Daniel Kinahan. No obstante, estos rumores parecen absurdos si únicamente se basan en lo sucedido en la subasta, ya que simplemente Taylor hace meses que afirmó que piensa dejar vacantes sus cinturones del peso superligero para ascender al peso wélter y en ningún momento ni él ni su promotora tenían en mente disputar el choque ante Puello.
Por ello, y manteniendo por el momento Taylor sus cinturones sólo para alargar su reinado indiscutido el mayor número de días posibles, no tendría ningún sentido que Top Rank presentase una puja para un choque que no se va a producir.
En fin, el resultado de la subasta simplemente ilustra que Taylor tendrá que dejar sus títulos de forma definitiva ya en los próximos 20 días y que PBC está dispuesta a apoyar la candidatura mundialista de Puello, que tendrá que pelear por el título vacante ante Ismael Barroso. En este sentido cabe destacar que PBC propuso tras la puja la fecha tentativa del 16 de julio, por lo que es posible que un eventual choque Puello-Barroso termine produciéndose hacia esas fechas.

A few hours ago there was a purse bid regarding the world championship ordered by the WBA between Josh Taylor and Alberto Puello. In it, TGB Promotions, one of the satellite companies of Premier Boxing Champions, has won the rights to organize the duel with a bid of 200,000 dollars on behalf of Puello. This amount was the only one presented, since Top Rank (company that represents Taylor) did not bid.
As Bob Arum did not even make a proposal, there is a lot of speculation, some even claiming that Top Rank has withdrawn its support to Taylor for being one of the fighters who has had interaction with Daniel Kinahan. However, these rumors seem absurd if they are based solely on what happened at the purse bid, since Taylor stated months ago that he plans to vacate his super lightweight belts to move up to welterweight and neither he nor his promoter had in mind facing Puello.
For this reason, and as Taylor is keeping his belts for the moment just to extend his undisputed reign for as many days as possible, it would not make any sense for Top Rank to present a bid for a clash that is not going to take place.
The result of the auction simply shows that Taylor will have to vacate titles definitively in the next 20 days and that PBC is willing to support Puello’s candidacy to a world crown. When the belts will be vacant, Puello will have to fight against Ismael Barroso for the WBA belt. In this sense, it should be noted that after the bid PBC proposed the tentative date of July 16, so it is possible that a Puello-Barroso clash would end up taking place around those dates.
