La cartelera principal del evento Taylor-Serrano se inició con el segundo combate profesional del oro olímpico británico Galal Yafai 2(2KO)-0, que apabulló ofensivamente al estadounidense Miguel Cartagena 17(8KO)-7(4)-1 hasta obtener el triunfo en el segundo asalto de un combate del peso mosca.
Los primeros tres minutos fueron un suplicio para Cartagena, que sufrió el variadísimo y muy eficaz trabajo ofensivo del zurdo Yafai. Éste impactó nítidos izquierdazos, cruzados de ambas manos, ganchos arriba y abajo y uppercuts en rápida y fluida combinación que sacudieron a su oponente repetidas veces. Cartagena puso valentía para tratar de aguantar y contestar aprovechando el total desprecio por las tareas defensivas del invicto, pero en el segundo asalto el local continuó recibiendo un durísimo y constante castigo que a duras penas pudo resistir en pie. De ese modo, su esquina acertó completamente al detener el combate después de la campana de final de ese episodio.
La destreza técnica y la agresividad eficaz de Yafai son realmente extraordinarias, pareciendo que por su talento y su gran carrera amateur necesitará poco desarrollo antes de alcanzar un buen posicionamiento en las listas mundiales. Es verdad que sólo tiene dos peleas como profesional, que le faltan tests de calibre y que siempre hay que tener cierta cautela respecto a las proyecciones sobre los prospectos, pero los púgiles de la cumbre de la división mosca harían bien en no perder de vista a Yafai, que de seguir así en no mucho tiempo aspirará a destronar a los titulares.
