Previa: Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez se enfrenta en eliminatoria a Dominic Boesel con la mirada puesta en Dmitriy Bivol

El matchmaking para algunas de las figuras de la compañía Golden Boy Promotions no está resultando nada satisfactorio para los fans, siendo el mayor ejemplo de ello Jaime Munguía, para el que se han seleccionado oponentes por debajo del nivel de la cumbre a la vez que, por ejemplo, ni se ha movido un dedo para perseguir la pelea contra el campeón Demetrius Andrade como número 1 del ranking WBO.
El recorrido reciente del peso semipesado mexicano, excampeón del peso supermedio, Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez 43(29KO)-0 no está dejando precisamente convencidos tampoco a los aficionados, que consideran que se le está protegiendo e inflando a través de peleas de bajo riesgo, siendo cierto que Sullivan Barrera y Yunieski González no eran grandes amenazas sobre el papel y que no lo fueron en el cuadrilátero. Por ello, midiéndose ahora al alemán Dominic Boesel 32(12KO)-2(2), que ha sido noqueado por oponentes con tantas limitaciones como Karo Murat y Robin Krasniqi, las críticas sólo han hecho que aumentar.
El sábado, en el Toyota Center de Ontario, Estados Unidos, Ramírez será abrumador favorito para vencer esta pelea, siendo muy posible que pueda lograr el triunfo antes del límite. Y es que Boesel es esencialmente un boxeador de distancia larga y táctico, con bajo ritmo, escasa pegada y limitada velocidad que, teóricamente, debería padecer muchas dificultades ante la versión del peso semipesado de “Zurdo”, quien se está mostrando muchísimo más agresivo de lo que lo fue en el peso supermedio descargando sus izquierdazos con peligro y frecuencia y sus combinaciones de curvos con evidente contundencia.
Así, si Ramírez lucha con determinación para alcanzar su objetivo de lograr un rápido triunfo, es posible que lo obtenga si consigue situar bajo fuego consistentemente a su adversario y, sobre todo, si logra trabajar en la distancia media-corta, en la que parece muy superior a Boesel.
Los seguidores de “Zurdo” quizás se entusiasmen al presenciar una nueva de sus victorias, pero los demás probablemente se queden un tanto indiferentes ante su previsible éxito, quedándoles esperar a que en el futuro se materialice para el boxeador un enfrentamiento de gran envergadura para el que podría dar un paso decisivo el sábado.
Hay que recordar que el Ramírez-Boesel será una eliminatoria final WBA para elegir al retador obligatorio del campeón Dmitriy Bivol, quien llega de su enorme triunfo ante Canelo. Por lo tanto, si se impone a Boesel, cuando la Asociación ordene el duelo entre el aspirante oficial y el monarca, Ramírez estará definitivamente emplazado a una pugna de la máxima importancia y dificultad.
“Camarón” en el semifondo
En el semifondo de esta velada se producirá una nueva subida al cuadrilátero del peso ligero mexicano William “Camarón” Zepeda 25(23KO)-0, duro pegador que tratará de llevar a 16 su racha de victorias por knockout enfrentándose al resistente y fogueadísimo nicaragüense René “Gemelo” Alvarado 32(21KO)-11(1).
En principio este es uno de los tres duelos más exigentes que ha afrontado en su carrera Zepeda, puesto que Alvarado es un boxeador muy aguerrido y capaz, con mucha experiencia de calidad, que nunca ha sido noqueado (tuvo una derrota antes del límite por corte) y que tiene recientes dos controvertidos tropiezos ante el actual campeón WBA superpluma Roger Gutiérrez.
No obstante, aunque el mexicano ha mostrado algunas brechas defensivas y es casi seguro que el choque debería ofrecer entretenimiento con buenos intercambios, el zurdo Zepeda está mucho menos castigado, tiene una gran ventaja en pegada y su oponente padeció tres knockdowns el año pasado. Así, si bien siempre existe la posibilidad de que un boxeador pueda terminar cediendo inesperadamente en una pelea de alta intensidad, Zepeda es claro favorito para imponerse y tratar de acercarse al top 3 WBO y WBA desde sus posiciones respectivas de 5º y 6º.
DAZN emitirá la velada del Ramírez-Boesel desde las 2:00 de la madrugada del sábado al domingo en hora española, las 20:00 ET/17:00 PT del sábado.

The matchmaking for some of Golden Boy Promotions’ fighters is not being satisfactory for the fans, with the greatest example of this being Jaime Munguía, for whom have been selected opponents below the level of the top while at the same time, for example, they have not lifted a finger to pursue a clash against Demetrius Andrade.
The recent career of the Mexican light heavyweight, former super middleweight champion, Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez 43(29KO)-0 is not exactly convincing the fans either, as it is considered that he is being protected through low-risk fights. In this sense, it is true that Sullivan Barrera and Yunieski González were not great threats on paper and that in the ring they were widely defeated. So now facing the German Dominic Boesel 32(12KO)-2(2), who has been knocked out by rivals so flawed as Karo Murat and Robin Krasniqi, the trend of criticism has only increased.
On Saturday, at the Toyota Center in Ontario, United States, Ramírez will be the overwhelming favorite to win this fight, and it is very possible that he could achieve a stoppage victory. Boesel is essentially a long distance and tactical boxer, with low pace, not much power and limited speed that, theoretically, should suffer many difficulties against the light heavyweight version of «Zurdo», who is being much more aggressive than he was in the super middleweight division, throwing his left hands with danger and frequency and his combinations of hooks with evident forcefulness.
Thus, if Ramírez fights with determination to achieve his goal of a quick victory, it is possible that he will obtain it if he manages to consistently put his opponent under fire and, above all, if he works in the mid-close range, in which he seems far superior to Boesel.
The followers of «Zurdo» may be excited to witness another of his triumphs, but the other boxing fans will probably remain somewhat indifferent to his predictable success and will have to wait for a major bout to materialize for the boxer in the future. For it Ramírez could take a decisive step on Saturday.
It must be remembered that the Ramírez-Boesel will be a WBA final eliminator to choose the mandatory challenger for the champion Dmitriy Bivol, who comes from his huge victory over Canelo. Therefore, if Ramírez wins on Saturday, when the Association orders the duel between the official challenger and the monarch, he will definitely be in reach of a fight of the utmost importance and difficulty.
«Camarón» in the co-feature
In the undercard of this evening there will be a new fight for the Mexican lightweight William “Camarón” Zepeda 25(23KO)-0, hard puncher who will try to take his knockout win streak to 16 against the resistant and very experienced Nicaraguan René “Gemelo” Alvarado 32(21KO)-11(1).
In principle, this is one of the three most demanding duels that Zepeda has faced in his career, since Alvarado is a seasoned and capable boxer, with a lot of quality experience, who has never been knocked out (he had a stoppage defeat due to a cut) and who has recently had two controversial setbacks against the current WBA super featherweight champion Roger Gutiérrez.
However, while the Mexican has shown some defensive breaches and the match should almost certainly will have entertainment and good exchanges, the southpaw Zepeda is much less punished, has a big punch advantage and is facing an opponent that has suffered three knockdowns last year. So, while there is always the possibility that a boxer could wind up unexpectedly giving in in a high-intensity fight, Zepeda is the clear favorite to win and move closer to the top 3 in the WBO and the WBA rankings.
