José Pedraza se enfrentará a Richard Commey en duelo de excampeones mundiales

El entrenador del excampeón mundial puertorriqueño José “Sniper” Pedraza 29(14KO)-4(1) ha confirmado que se están preparando ya para un enfrentamiento ante otro exmonarca mundial, el ghanés Richard Commey 30(27KO)-4(1). Esta pelea del peso superligero en principio encabezará una velada de Top Rank y ESPN el día 23 de julio, esperándose que en breve la promotora anuncie formalmente la cartelera.
Aunque para algunos este combate puede parecer una clásica maniobra de “reciclaje promocional”, el hecho es que es un enfrentamiento con mucho sentido y no poco interés.
Después de una derrota muy ajustada y algo controvertida ante el extitular unificado José Carlos Ramírez, Pedraza tratará de regresar a la senda del triunfo y reengancharse en las conversaciones en la parte alta de la división enfrentándose a un boxeador con pegada y buen nivel como Commey. Hay que recordar que en el pasado reciente Commey sólo ha sufrido derrotas ante Vasiliy Lomachenko y Teófimo López, mientras que ha logrado triunfos contundentes ante Isa Chaniev, Jackson Maríñez y Raymundo Beltrán.
Por otro lado, aunque Pedraza será favorito ante un Commey que subirá de división desde el peso ligero, será un encuentro con evidentes alicientes pugilísticos entre la agilidad y técnica del boricua y el planteamiento agresivo del ghanés, quienes seguramente ofrecerán buenos y entretenidos rounds.

The coach of Puerto Rican, former world champion, José «Sniper» Pedraza 29(14KO)-4(1) has confirmed that they are already training for a confrontation against another former world champion, the Ghanaian Richard Commey 30(27KO)-4(1). This super lightweight bout will headline a Top Rank and ESPN evening on July 23, card which the promoter will formally announce shortly.
Although to some this match seems just “promotional recycling”, the fact is that it is a fight with a lot of sense and not little interest.
After a very close and somewhat controversial loss to former unified titleholder José Carlos Ramírez, Pedraza will try to return to winning ways and re-engage in the conversations at the top of the division by facing a boxer with punch and good level like Commey. In the recent past, Commey has only suffered defeats against Vasiliy Lomachenko and Teófimo López, while he has had resounding wins against Isa Chaniev, Jackson Maríñez and Raymundo Beltrán.
On the other hand, although Pedraza will be the favorite against Commey, who will move up from lightweight, it will be a match with obvious pugilistic incentives between the agility and technique of the Puerto Rican and the aggressive approach of the Ghanaian. So surely they will offer good and entertaining rounds.
