Chisora y Pulev encabezarán velada de Matchroom Boxing el 9 de julio. Reciclaje promocional falto de compasión

En 2016 el búlgaro Kubrat Pulev derrotó claramente (a pesar de la cartulina de uno de los jueces) a Derek Chisora en un combate bastante monótono y en el que el británico encajó preocupantes golpes de poder, considerando muchos que lo único positivo de la pelea es que la disparidad entre los contendientes había sido más que suficiente como para que no se produjese una revancha. Sin embargo, seis años después, Eddie Hearn ha querido hacer una maniobra de reciclaje promocional inesperada y ha situado a ambos en una revancha.
El combate será el estelar de una velada de Matchroom Boxing y DAZN que se producirá el día 9 de julio en el O2 Arena de Londres, Reino Unido. Por el momento no se han anunciado los enfrentamientos del respaldo, debiéndose esperar unos días para que se produzcan confirmaciones en este sentido.
Quizás la idea de Hearn es que Chisora, que ofreció un sobrehumano esfuerzo y mostró enorme tenacidad pese a ser castigado terriblemente en su revancha ante Joseph Parker, pueda intentar usar esa misma acometividad para anotarse una victoria sobre un Pulev que tiene un deficiente boxeo en corta. Posteriormente, Hearn trataría de usar a Chisora nuevamente como una piedra de toque para un púgil con aspiraciones.
Con todo, aunque esto pueda resultar útil al promotor para sus planes en la división y aunque quizás Chisora y Pulev puedan generar más entretenimiento del que muchos esperan en la revancha, el hecho es que se debería pensar mucho más en proteger la salud del púgil británico.
Durante toda su carrera, y en especial en los últimos años, Chisora ha sufrido muchísimo castigo recurrente, el tipo de daños que pueden tener consecuencias muy graves a largo plazo. Por ello, aunque esta vez pudiese ganar la revancha, situarle ahora ante un oponente que le dominó con temibles derechazos y uppercuts es sólo una garantía de que Chisora acumule más daños y siga poniendo en peligro su salud, falta de humanidad por parte del promotor que ha sido abrazada directamente en el título puesto por Matchroom Boxing al evento: “Total Carnage”, algo así como “carnicería total”.

However, six years later, Eddie Hearn has decided to make an unexpected promotional recycling maneuver and has placed both boxers in a rematch.
The fight will be the main event of a Matchroom Boxing and DAZN evening that will take place on July 9 at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom. For the moment, the undercard has not been announced, so we will have to wait a few days for confirmations in this regard.
Perhaps Hearn’s idea is that Chisora, who put up a superhuman effort and showed enormous tenacity despite being terribly punished in his rematch with Joseph Parker, might try to use that same aggressiveness to achieve a win over Pulev, who is not good fighting at close range. Later, Hearn would try to use Chisora again as a stepping stone for a fighter with aspirations.
Still, while this may be useful for the plans of the promoter in the division, and while perhaps Chisora and Pulev may generate more entertainment than many expect in the rematch, the fact is that Matchroom Boxing should think much more about protecting the British fighter’s health.
Throughout his career, and especially in recent years, Chisora has suffered a lot of recurring punishment, the kind of damage that can have very serious long-term consequences. Therefore, although this time he could win the rematch, putting him now against an opponent who dominated him with fearsome right hands and uppercuts makes almost certain that Chisora will accumulate more damage and continue to endanger his health, a lack of mercy by the promoter that has been directly embraced in the title given by Matchroom Boxing to the event: «Total Carnage».
