En las últimas semanas diversas filtraciones han hecho que se conociese de forma bastante aproximada cómo iba a ser este evento, pero ahora Premier Boxing Champions y Showtime lo han confirmado oficialmente. El día 20 de agosto en el Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino de Hollywood, Estados Unidos, los excampeones mundiales Adrien Broner y Omar Figueroa se verán las caras en un choque del peso superligero que muchos consideran que llevará al retiro al perdedor.
Tras innumerables problemas de ambos fuera del ring y vidas nada sanas que les condujeron a severas pérdidas de rendimiento, Broner y Figueroa se enfrentarán en un choque del peso superligero que servirá sobre todo para que los dos puedan sumar una buena bolsa en esta última fase de sus carreras.
Por otro lado, aunque muchos consideran que este choque es absurdo y una forma de que la promotora siga extrayendo beneficios de boxeadores con dificultades, otros piensan que el combate tiene sentido en cierto modo, puesto que no hay un favorito abrumador teniendo en cuenta sus malas actuaciones recientes y quizás las acciones podrían estar menos desniveladas que en otros duelos que se suelen ver.
En cuanto al respaldo principal de este evento, este estará compuesto por dos campeonatos mundiales WBA. Uno de ellos será por el vacante cinturón del peso superligero, por el que combatirán el dominicano Alberto Puello y el uzbeko Batyr Akhmedov, mientras que el otro será por el cetro del peso superpluma entre el campeón venezolano Roger Gutiérrez y el retador dominicano Héctor Luis García.
Si alguien tuviese que nombrar a los tres mejores boxeadores actuales de ambas divisiones, seguramente no mencionaría a estos púgiles, pero esto no quita que los dos enfrentamientos son interesantes y podrían ser bastante entretenidos teniendo en cuenta los estilos de los protagonistas. Así, aunque a no pocos el combate estelar les provocará dudas o rechazo, en conjunto será un cartelera a la que prestar atención.

After countless problems for both fighters outside the ring and unhealthy lives that led to severe decline in their performances, Broner and Figueroa will face each other in a super lightweight clash that will serve the two of them to gain a good purse in this last phase of their careers.
On the other hand, although many consider this bout to be absurd and a way for the promoter to continue taking profit from boxers with difficulties, others think that the fight makes sense in a certain way, since there is no overwhelming favorite considering their poor recent performances and perhaps the actions could be less uneven than in many other duels.
As for the main support, it will be composed by two WBA world championships. If someone had to name the three best boxers in both divisions, he would surely not mention these fighters, but this does not mean that the two duels lack interest. In fact, the bouts could be quite entertaining considering the styles of the fighters. Thus, although the main event will have the disapproval of many fans, as a whole it will be a card to pay attention to.
