El pasado marzo el entonces campeón de Italia del peso superligero Arblin Kaba 14(2KO)-3(2)-1 perdió su cinturón por ajustada decisión. Menos de cuatro meses después, Kaba volvió al ring buscando retornar a la senda del triunfo, algo que logró enfrentándose en revancha a Daniele Zagatti 9(0KO)-3-1, a quien venció por merecida decisión unánime. Las puntuaciones fueron demasiado ajustadas dando doble 96-94 y un 97-93.
El enfrentamiento tuvo un desarrollo bastante similar durante los diez rounds, con Zagatti intentando caminar por el ring tirando jabs y tratando de conectar aislados contragolpes mientras era perseguido por un Kaba más agresivo y que utilizó con más frecuencia y contundencia los golpes de poder. Ciertamente, a menudo el extitular se encimó y entró con la cabeza por delante, algo que el árbitro le recriminó varias veces sin quitarle un punto. Sin embargo, con ganchos zurdos enlazados con cruzados diestros, combinaciones de hooks y derechas rectas, Kaba anotó sostenidamente las manos más potentes, claras y significativas.
Eventualmente, aprovechando que su adversario cargó contra él de manera precipitada, Zagatti conectó rectos diestros a la contra, golpes que a largo plazo generaron una inflamación bajo el ojo izquierdo de su contrincante. Pero por lo demás, su jab fue insuficientemente tenso o preciso, su defensa fue permeable y su réplica al contragolpe careció de la necesaria variedad de recursos. Así, y cayendo ambos púgiles en repetidos agarres, los éxitos de Kaba con sus llamativos puños curvos, a veces acompañados de alguna buena esquiva de cintura, resultaron de lejos el trabajo ofensivo superior y tras los diez rounds obtuvo la victoria.
Aunque logró una victoria indudable y aunque en la pelea estuvo en juego un título menor WBC del peso superligero, hoy por hoy no parece viable una escalada hacia la parte alta de las listas por parte de Kaba, cuyo camino debería ser intentar recuperar el cinturón italiano. Indudablemente, teniendo en cuenta que su derrota ante Charlemagne Metonyekpon fue por un único asalto de diferencia, Kaba debería buscar reparar los errores del duelo precedente ante este púgil y tratar de superarlo en una revancha. Posteriormente podría pasar a intentar perseguir el título de la Unión Europea, objetivo que sería mucho más razonable que tratar de luchar en las listas mundiales.

Last March, the Italian super lightweight champion Arblin Kaba 14(2KO)-3(2)-1 lost his belt by a narrow unanimous decision. Less than four months later, Kaba sought to return to winning ways, something he achieved facing a rematch against Daniele Zagatti 9(0KO)-3-1, whom he defeated by deserved unanimous decision. The scores were too close: double 96-94 and one 97-93.
The fight was very similar throughout the ten rounds, with Zagatti walking the ring throwing jabs and trying to land isolated counterpunches while being chased by a more aggressive Kaba, who used forceful power shots. Certainly, the former beltholder often got too close to his rival and with his head first, something that the referee recriminated him several times without deducting a point. However, with lead hooks linked with right hooks and straight right hands, Kaba consistently scored the most powerful, clear and significant punches of the bout.
Eventually, taking advantage of his opponent’s charges, Zagatti landed counter right hands, shots that eventually caused a swelling under his opponent’s left eye. But otherwise, his jab was insufficiently sharp or precise, his defense was not solid, and his counterattacks lacked the necessary variety. Thus, and with both fighters ending in clinches many times, Kaba’s striking hooks, sometimes accompanied by some good waist dodges, were by far the superior offensive work and after ten rounds he obtained the victory.
Although he achieved the triumph and although a minor WBC super lightweight title was at stake in the fight, for now a climb to the top of the rankings by Kaba does not seem feasible. On the contrary, he should try to regain the Italian belt. Undoubtedly, taking into account that his loss to Charlemagne Metonyekpon was by a single round, Kaba could seek to repair the mistakes of the previous duel against this fighter and try to overcome him in a rematch. Later, a pursuit of the European Union title will be a more reasonable objective than trying to fight in the world rankings.
