En un primer momento se informó de que el campeón mundial WBC del peso mínimo Panya Pradabsri 38(23KO)-1 se iba a medir al japonés Tsubasa Koura, un rival que, pese a no haber logrado cumplir las grandes perspectivas que su carrera generó en un inicio, es un púgil hábil, exigente y de muy buen nivel. De hecho, en su último combate Koura perdió por la mínima ante Yudei Shigeoka, que es, por debajo de Ginjiro Shigeoka, una de las dos mayores promesas del peso mínimo japonés en la actualidad.
Sin embargo, finalmente Pradabsri no pugnará contra Koura, sino contra un adversario muchísimo más sencillo como el nipón Norihito Tanaka 20(10KO)-8(1). Dejando de lado la diferencia en cualidades con Koura, primeramente se debe señalar que Tanaka no pelea desde hace cerca de dos años. Por otro lado, cuando en 2020 disputó, inesperadamente, su primer mundial, Tanaka perdió de forma amplísima contra el titular WBA Thammanoon Niyomtrong. Además, aunque cuenta con experiencia de calidad, en todos sus mayores combates ha sufrido derrotas ante rivales como Akira Yaegashi, Ryoichi Taguchi y Kenichi Horikawa. Finalmente, es significativo señalar que Tanaka fue batido por KOT en cinco asaltos por el propio Tsubasa Koura.
Dicho esto, es justo señalar que Tanaka es un boxeador voluntarioso, fuerte, con una adecuada base técnica y por lo general bastante resistente, lo que le permitió lograr el cinturón japonés y un triunfo (el mayor de su carrera) ante el exretador mundial Shin Ono. A esto se debe añadir que Pradabsri, aunque es potente y cuenta con el enorme mérito de haber vencido dos veces al exnúmero 1 de la división Chayaphon Moonsri (también llamado Wanheng Menayothin), dista de ser un boxeador sin brechas, habiendo tenido dificultades en momentos de sus últimos dos combates por una inadecuada gestión táctica.
Sin embargo, boxeando como local, estando mucho más rodado, contando con importante ventaja en pegada y tamaño, con éxitos de mayor calado y una mayor motivación, sería ilógico no considerar como favorito a Pradabsri sobre el papel. Esto no quiere decir que Tanaka tenga imposible ganar, puesto que para una victoria contra pronóstico sólo se necesita que el no favorito tenga la mejor actuación de su carrera y el favorito un mal día. Con todo, si bien es posible que Tanaka plante cara, luche con valentía y ofrezca mucho esfuerzo, si Pradabsri no permite que se extiendan sus momentos de falta de solidez en el control del ring, el tailandés debería poder imponer sus fuertes golpes de poder para hacerse con la victoria y retener su título mundial.
Este combate, que se producirá el miércoles en un ring situado en un entoldado en Nakhon Ratchasima, Tailandia, será emitido por el canal de YouTube de Tru4U el miércoles desde aproximadamente las 13:00 en hora española, las 18:00 en Tailandia y las 7:00 ET/4:00 PT.

Initially it was reported that the WBC minimumweight world champion Panya Pradabsri 38(23KO)-1 was going to face next the Japanese Tsubasa Koura, opponent who, despite not having fulfilled the great prospects that his career generated, is a skillful boxer with a high level. In fact, in his last bout, Koura narrowly lost by decision to Yudei Shigeoka, who is, below Ginjiro Shigeoka, one of the two best Japanese prospects of the minimumweight division.
However, Pradabsri will not finally battle Koura, but a much easier opponent like the Japanese Norihito Tanaka 20(10KO)-8(1). Leaving aside the difference in qualities with Koura, it should first be noted that Tanaka has not fought for almost two years. On the other hand, when in 2020, unexpectedly, he reached his first world title fight, Tanaka lost widely against the WBA titleholder Thammanoon Niyomtrong. In addition, although he has quality experience, in all of his biggest bouts he has suffered losses against rivals such as Akira Yaegashi, Ryoichi Taguchi and Kenichi Horikawa. Lastly, it is significant to note that Tanaka was beat by TKO in five rounds by Tsubasa Koura himself.
That said, it’s fair to point out that Tanaka is a brave, strong and generally quite tough fighter with good technical base, which permitted him to the capture the Japanese belt and defeat (in the biggest victory of his career) former world title challenger Shin Ono. To this, it is necessary to add that Pradabsri, although is powerful and has the merit of having beaten twice the former number 1 in the division Chayaphon Moonsri (Wanheng Menayothin), is far from being a boxer without flaws, having had difficulties in moments of his last two fights due to an inadequate tactical management.
Even so, boxing as a local, having more recent activity, a significant advantage in punch and size, greater achievements and more motivation, it would be illogical not considering Pradabsri the favorite on paper. This does not mean that it is impossible for Tanaka to win, since for an upset to occur it is only necessary that the underdog has the best performance of his career and the favorite has a bad day. Still, while Tanaka may fight bravely and put in a lot of effort, if Pradabsri doesn’t allow his moments of lack of ring control to extend in time, the Thai should be able to impose his hard power shots to obtain the victory and retain his world title.
This match, which will take place in a tented ring in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, will be broadcast on Tru4U’s YouTube channel on Wednesday from approximately 1:00 a.m. ET /4:00 a.m. PT, 12:00 in the United Kingdom and 18:00 in local time.
