La afición al boxeo de Vitoria-Gasteiz podrá disfrutar el próximo 15 de octubre de un nuevo combate del púgil colombiano de 25 años residente en la capital alavesa, Fran Mendoza. El de San Antero, que suma 14 victorias en otros tantos combates luce 7 KO, es actualmente, según la base de datos internacional Box Rec, número 1 de su país en el peso gallo y 31 del mundo. El objetivo ahora es asomar en los puestos altos de los organismos mundiales, aunque a Fran le encantaría disputar el título nacional de Colombia actualmente en manos de Vieris Ortega.
Quienes acudan el sábado 15 de octubre al Polideportivo Judimendi de Vitoria-Gasteiz podrán ver el boxeo ofensivo y siempre espectacular del más joven de los Mendoza. Completan un cartel que arranca a las 19:30 con entradas anticipadas desde solo 18 euros, dos combates de K1 profesional y varios cruces de boxeo y K1 amateur.
Fran Mendoza ofreció excelentes prestaciones en su última aparición el pasado 20 de mayo en el Bilbao Arena de la capital vizcaína ante el rocoso Alexander Mejía (18-2 hasta ese día). El de San Antero se impuso por amplia decisión unánime de los jueces tras ocho entretenidos asaltos disputados ante los ojos de uno de los poderosos del pugilismo mundial ya que el combate abrió la cartelera emitida por la cadena internacional DAZN del evento Lejarraga-Metcalf promovido por la corporación británica Matchroom.

Quintana presenta ahora un récord desde su debut en el boxeo de pago en 2015 de 15 victorias (10 por KO) y 5 derrotas. «Hemos visto vídeos de Quintana y podemos decir que es un peleador peligroso, se desplaza bien, busca ángulos, pega duro y sabe estar en el ring«, asegura el preparador gasteiztarra Andoni Alonso. «No será un combate fácil para Fran«, recalca Alonso.
