A la vez que su archirrival Eddie Hearn ha cancelado su evento del sábado, Frank Warren ha anunciado una nueva cartelera, que se producirá el día 19 de noviembre en el Telford International Centre de Telford, Reino Unido.
Esta cartelera estará encabezada por dos campeonatos de Europa, siendo en principio el que ocupará la posición estelar el que disputarán el invicto británico Liam Davies y el peligroso rumano residente en España Ionut Baluta por el vacante cetro continental del peso supergallo. De todos modos, no será menos interesante el semifondo, en el que el campeón de Europa del peso wélter ruso David Avanesyan expondrá su corona contra el español Jon Míguez.
Además, el exretador mundial del peso semipesado Anthony Yarde disputará un rodaje ante un rival por confirmar antes de disputar el mundial ante Artur Beterbiev y Eithan James y Connor Parker se medirán en un combate del peso superligero.
En el anuncio oficial, el promotor Frank Warren se refirió así al combate estelar:
“Telford vuelve a actuar como anfitrión de lo que será una noche de peleas de calidad encabezada por dos combates por título europeo. El duelo por el título europeo del peso supergallo entre Liam Davies y Ionut Baluta será una magnífica pelea, ya que ninguno de los dos peleadores parece poseer marcha atrás. Liam ha hecho grandes avances desde que nos asociamos con él, y me impresionó mucho la forma en que lidió con un rival particularmente intrincado como Marc Leach para ganar el título británico. Ionut, que es el más experimentado de los dos, mostró su clase ganando su título WBC contra Brad Foster y con razón se considerará un supergallo de nivel mundial. Este combate tiene todas las características de un clásico en la que es una división muy competitiva”.
Respecto al semifondo, Warren añadió:
“David Avanesyan demostrará otra vez por qué es el mejor en la categoría en Europa con una impresionante sexta defensa de su título europeo del peso wélter contra un ambicioso e invicto oponente como Jon Míguez. David está pensando obviamente en mayores cosas que en títulos europeos, teniendo en cuenta su racha y su estado forma, pero hasta que no tenga una significativa pelea de nivel mundial en el calendario no va a rendir su cinturón”.
Finalmente, el promotor concluyó señalando lo siguiente:
“Estoy entusiasmado por poner a Anthony Yarde en una pelea de rodaje de cara a su reto por título mundial en enero. Siempre está la tentación de simplemente esperar pero, con Artur Beterbiev no estando actualmente disponible debido a una lesión, Anthony necesita algo de tiempo en el ring. Eithan James y Connor Parker originalmente iban a pelear en junio, pero fue pospuesto debido a que Connor se lesionó. Lo tendremos otra vez, ahora con el título WBO europeo en juego, y esta debería ser una gran pelea entre dos jóvenes prospectos deseosos de dar un importante paso adelante en nivel”.

At the same time that his arch-rival Eddie Hearn has canceled his Saturday’s event, Frank Warren has announced a new card, which will take place on November 19 at the Telford International Center in Telford, United Kingdom.
This bill will be headlined by two European championships. The main event of the evening will be a fight between undefeated British Liam Davies and the dangerous Romanian, resident in Spain, Ionut Baluta for the vacant EBU super bantamweight title. On the other hand, the co-feature will not be less interesting, since in it the Russian European welterweight champion David Avanesyan will defend his crown against the Spaniard Jon Míguez.
In addition, former light heavyweight world title challenger Anthony Yarde will face a stay-busy fight against an opponent to be confirmed before battling in a world championship against Artur Beterbiev and Eithan James and Connor Parker will fight in a super lightweight duel.
In the official announcement, promoter Frank Warren said the following regarding the main event:
“Telford is once again playing host to what will be a quality night of fights topped by two European title clashes. The European super bantamweight clash between Liam Davies and Ionut Baluta will be a terrific scrap as neither fighter appears to possess a reverse gear. Liam has made massive strides since we teamed up with him and I was so impressed with the way he dealt with a particularly tricky customer in Marc Leach to win the British title. Ionut, who is the more experienced of the pair, showed his class in winning his WBC belt against Brad Foster and he will rightly consider himself a world level super bantam. This fight has got all the makings of a classic in what is a highly competitive division.
Regarding the co-feature, Warren added:
“David Avanesyan will once again demonstrate why he is best in class in Europe with a staggering sixth defence of his European welterweight title against an ambitious and unbeaten opponent in Jon Miguez. David is obviously thinking bigger than European titles, given his run of form, but until he gets a meaningful world level fight in the diary he is rightly not going to surrender his belt.”.
Lastly, the promoter concluded by stating this:
“I am delighted to be getting Anthony Yarde out in a keep-busy fight ahead of his world title challenge in January. There is always the temptation to simply play the waiting game but, with Artur Beterbiev not currently available due to injury, Anthony needs some time in the ring. Eithan James and Connor Parker were originally due to fight in June, but this was postponed due to Connor picking up an injury. We are getting it on again now with the WBO European title at stake and this should be a top fight between two young prospects willing to take a significant step up in class.”
