“Terminator” Natalizi cortó el buen rendimiento de Tony Dixon en Italia venciéndole por KOT

Tras la controvertida derrota de Tony Dixon 13(4KO)-4(2) como visitante en Italia ante Maxim Prodan y su demoledor triunfo en un round en el mismo país sobre Francesco Russo, muchos apuntaron a que en el boxeo hay niveles y que el pugilismo británico simplemente está en otro nivel que el italiano. Aunque esto es cierto, el hecho es que un púgil de élite italiano como el peso superwélter Mirko “Terminator” Natalizi 13(8KO)-0 está también a un nivel diferente que Dixon, que fue derribado y batido en cinco asaltos.
Como siempre, Dixon ofreció mucho esfuerzo y trató de combatir aguerridamente, pero en todas las distancias Natalizi parecía superior. En la distancia larga el hábil italiano usó bien sus rectos y abiertos cruzados y bajo ataque en la distancia corta replicó con bravura y eficacia con uppercuts y hooks. En el segundo round Natalizi padeció un corte por choque de cabezas, pero derribó a su adversario con potentes y certeros directos zurdos y cruzados diestros.
Tras quedar Dixon algo tocado por curvos al final del tercer round, Natalizi continuó descargando golpes de poder en el cuarto episodio y volvió a sacudir al británico, que aun así siguió luchando valientemente intentando cambiar el curso del combate. El local descuidó su defensa en no pocas ocasiones enfrascado en intercambios, pero continuó imponiendo su destreza y explosividad en corta y su técnica y astucia en larga.
Era sorprendente que Dixon, que había pasado por apuros en múltiples momentos, pudiese continuar intentando guerrear, pero al final del quinto round quedó seriamente dañado por una mano derecha, tras la cual regresó a su esquina con obvios problemas. Así, su equipo decidió que no podía salir al siguiente episodio.
Natalizi es uno de los boxeadores italianos más prometedores de la actualidad y parece que ya va siendo hora de que afronte un paso adelante y empiece a buscar la corona de campeón de Italia en vistas a una futura pelea por el cinturón de la Unión Europea, estando perfectamente capacitado para lograr ambos cetros.

After Tony Dixon’s 13(4KO)-4(2) controversial loss as a visitor in Italy against Maxim Prodan and his devastating victory in one round in the same country over Francesco Russo, many pointed out that there are levels in boxing and that the British pugilism is simply on another level than the Italian. While this is true, the fact is that an elite Italian fighter like super welterweight Mirko “Terminator” Natalizi 13(8KO)-0 is also on a different level than Dixon, who was knocked down and beaten in five rounds.
As always, Dixon put in a lot of effort and tried to fight hard, but at all distances Natalizi seemed superior. At long range the skillful Italian used his straight punches and wide hooks well and under attack at close range he replied bravely and effectively with uppercuts and hooks. In the second round Natalizi suffered a cut due to a clash of heads, but he knocked down his opponent with powerful and accurate straight lefts and right hooks.
After Dixon was somewhat hurt by hooks at the end of the third round, Natalizi continued throwing power shots in the fourth round and rocked the Brit again. But Dixon kept fighting valiantly trying to change the course of the fight. The local neglected his defense on many occasions focused on generating damage in exchanges, but he continued imposing his skill and explosiveness at close range and his technique and cunning in long distance.
It was surprising that Dixon, who had difficulties in multiple moments of the bout, was still trying to fight tenaciously, but at the end of the fifth round he was seriously hurt by a right hand, after which he returned to his corner with obvious problems. Thus, his team decided that he could not come out for the next round.
Natalizi is currently one of the most promising Italian boxers, and it seems that it is time for him to take a step forward and start aiming for the Italian belt before a future fight for the European Union title, as he is perfectly capable of capturing both crowns.
