¿De dónde sacó MarvNation Promotions la cantidad de 2.400.000 dólares con la que dobló las pujas de Probellum y PBC para ganar la subasta del Zepeda-Prograis?, ¿hay alguna empresa importante que, desde la sombra, está utilizando esa compañía como pantalla?, ¿es este el comienzo de una campaña importante en el boxeo mundial o se quedará sólo en un intento aislado?
Realmente se necesitará responder a estas y otras muchas otras preguntas para entender cómo una promotora que sólo realizaba pequeñas veladas pasó de la noche a la mañana a dar forma al mayor evento de una semana en Estados Unidos. Pero el hecho es que este sábado MarvNation organizará en el Dignity Health Sports Park de Carson, una cartelera que, además del Zepeda-Prograis, contará con la participación de boxeadores de Probellum, Golden Boy Promotions, Thompson Boxing, etc.
Gran choque femenino
En el semifondo se producirá, de lejos, el mejor duelo del respaldo, ya que la monarca mundial IBF-WBO del peso mínimo, la costarricense Yokasta Valle 26(9KO)-2, ascenderá al peso minimosca para enfrentarse a otra doble campeona mundial como la invicta titular IBF-WBO del peso minimosca, la argentina Evelin “La Princesita” Bermúdez 17(6KO)-0-1.
O sea, dos boxeadoras en el mejor momento de sus carreras, muy agresivas, con altos ritmos combativos y que son claras candidatas al número 1 en sus respectivas divisiones, chocarán en la que debería una tremenda batalla sin clara favorita.
Dado que Valle ha abrumado a sus oponentes recientes, tiene más experiencia de calidad y los fans han podido verla combatir antes en Estados Unidos, quizás muchos se decanten por ella. Con todo, aunque en los últimos cuatro años nadie ha podido lidiar satisfactoriamente con su altísima frecuencia de golpes y su constante actividad, hasta ahora no se ha medido a ninguna boxeadora con la fortaleza, la pegada y la efectividad ofensiva de Bermúdez, hermana menor de la extop 10 libra por libra Daniela “La Bonita” Bermúdez. Todo ello además sin poder olvidar que Valle ascenderá de división.
Así, y habiendo noqueado en cinco asaltos Bermúdez a Débora Rengifo, a la que Valle sólo pudo vencer por decisión, éste se presenta como un combate realmente interesante, cuyo resultado se reducirá a una pregunta: ¿podrá Valle marcar la diferencia con su constante trabajo ante los golpes de poder de Bermúdez, o podrá esta última contener el despliegue de su oponente a base de contundencia y precisión?
Resto del respaldo
Además, del Bermúdez-Valle, el tramo en PPV de la velada ofrecerá la participación de tres invictos prospectos, si bien los tres serán abrumadores favoritos para imponerse. En teoría, inmediatamente antes del choque coestelar se subirá al ring el muy prometedor peso superwélter, y olímpico estadounidense, Charles Conwell 17(13KO)-0.
Éste es otro boxeador que, pese a tener todo el talento posible, es absurdamente pasado por alto por los analistas, teniendo la fortaleza, habilidad, solidez táctica y capacidad de definición para ser una pesadilla para cualquier peso superwélter. No obstante, ningún gran nombre está dispuesto a enfrentarse a Conwell, 4º IBF, 5º WBC y 8º WBO que seguirá esperando su momento enfrentándose al dominicano Juan Carlos “Merengue” Abreu 25(23KO)-6(1)-1, que después de su única derrota antes del límite ante el insigne prospecto wélter Jaron Ennis logró derrotar contra pronóstico al prospecto kazajo Tursynbay Kulakhmet.
Otro boxeador con un futuro brillante es el peso pesado uzbeko, oro olímpico, Bakhodir Jalolov 11(11KO)-0, que buscará mantener su 100% de knockouts enfrentándose al estadounidense Curtis “The Hurt” Harper 14(9KO)-8(3). Pese a la mala fama que se ganó marchándose literalmente de su combate ante Efe Ajagba y pese a su rápida derrota ante Zhilei Zhang, en 2022 Harper ha llegado a la última campana contra el prospecto Brandon Moore y ha derrotado contra pronóstico al invicto Christian Thun, si bien es de esperar que Jalolov se deshaga de él de forma contundente.
Finalmente, la cartelera principal se abrirá con una nueva pelea profesional para el peso superwélter Francisco “El Feroz” Vargas Jr. 6(6KO)-0, hijo de Francisco Vargas que se medirá a Alejandro “Thunder” Martínez 3(2KO)-2-1.
La cartelera encabezada por el Zepeda-Prograis se emitirá a través de un PPV distribuido por varias plataformas, entre ellas ppv.com, a partir de las 3:00 de la madrugada del sábado al domingo en España, las 21:00 ET/18:00 PT.

Where did MarvNation Promotions get the amount of $2,400,000 with which it doubled the bids of Probellum and PBC to win the organizational rights of the Zepeda-Prograis fight? Is there an important company that, from the shadows, is using MarvNation to conceal its plans? Is this the beginning of a major campaign in world boxing or will it just be an isolated attempt?
These and many other questions will really need to be answered to understand how a promotional company that only offered small cards, overnight, become the organizer of the biggest boxing event of this week in the US. In any case, the fact is that this Saturday’s MarvNation evening from the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, will have, in addition to the Zepeda-Prograis bout, the participation of interesting boxers from companies such as Probellum, Golden Boy Promotions, Thompson Boxing, etc.
Great female clash
The co-feature match will be, by far, the best duel of the support, since the IBF-WBO world minimumweight champion, the Costa Rican Yokasta Valle 26 (9KO)-2, will move up to the light flyweight to face another unified world champion as the undefeated IBF-WBO light flyweight titleholder, the Argentinian Evelin “La Princesita” Bermúdez 17(6KO)-0-1.
In other words, two very aggressive boxers with high work rates in the best moments of their careers and who are aspiring to the number 1 in their respective divisions, will battle in a very good fight without a clear favorite.
Given that Valle has overwhelmed her recent opponents, that she has more quality experience, and that fans have been able to watch her fight before in the United States, perhaps many will consider her victory as the most probable outcome. However, although in the last four years no one has been able to deal with her high punch output and her constant activity, until now Valle has not faced a boxer with the strength, striking power and the offensive effectiveness of Bermúdez, younger sister of the former top 10 pound-for-pound fighter Daniela “La Bonita” Bermúdez. On top of it, Valle is facing this challenge moving up a division.
Thus, and taking into account that Bermúdez knocked out in five rounds Débora Rengifo, whom Valle could only defeat by decision, this seems a really interesting bout, which result could be reduced to a question: can Valle make the difference with her constant work in front of Bermúdez’s power shots, or will the latter be able to contain the offensive deployment of her opponent relying on forcefulness and precision?
Rest of the main card
In addition to the Bermúdez-Valle championship, the PPV segment of the evening will offer the participation of three undefeated prospects, although all three will be overwhelming favorites to prevail. In theory, immediately before the co-main event, the very promising super welterweight, and US Olympian, Charles Conwell 17(13KO)-0 will step into the ring.
Conwell is another boxer who, despite having enormous talent, is absurdly overlooked by analysts, as he has the strength, skill, tactical solidity and finishing ability to be a nightmare for any junior middleweight. However, no big name has been willing to face Conwell, 4th IBF, 5th WBC and 8th WBO who will continue waiting for his moment facing the Dominican Juan Carlos «Merengue» Abreu 25(23KO)-6(1)-1. This boxer, after his only stoppage loss against outstanding welterweight prospect Jaron Ennis, achieved a big upset win over Kazakh prospect Tursynbay Kulakhmet.
Another fighter with a bright future is Uzbek heavyweight, Olympic gold medalist, Bakhodir Jalolov 11(11KO)-0, who will look to maintain his 100% knockout ratio by facing American Curtis “The Hurt” Harper 14(9KO)-8(3). Despite his bad reputation for walking out of his fight against Efe Ajagba and despite his quick defeat against Zhilei Zhang, in the current season Harper has reached the last bell against prospect Brandon Moore and has beaten by upset the undefeated Christian Thun. However, it is to be expected that Jalolov will get rid of him forcefully.
Finally, the main card will open with a new professional fight for super welterweight Francisco «El Feroz» Vargas Jr. 6(6KO)-0, son of Francisco Vargas who will face Alejandro «Thunder» Martínez 3(2KO)-2 -1.
