Los mejores combates del fin de semana (25-27/11/2022)

Cuando termine este domingo, a la temporada boxística sólo le quedarán tres fines de semana con gran actividad antes de entrar en las fiestas navideñas y su consecuente bajada en la cantidad de número de peleas. Así que en las jornadas del 25 al 27 de noviembre entramos ya en el último tramo intenso del año pugilístico y habrá varios eventos a los que se podrá prestar atención.
Viernes 25 de noviembre
El mayor combate titular del viernes será un campeonato de la Unión Europea por el vacante cinturón del peso gallo que se disputará en el PalaBoni de Mantua, Italia, emitido a través de YouTube.
Los coaspirantes serán dos boxeadores con números profesionales similares pero una gran diferencia en cuanto a recorrido amateur, puesto que uno será un Vincenzo Picardi 8(1KO)-0 con una gran experiencia en el pugilismo aficionado y el otro será un Cristian Zara 9(3KO)-1 sin logros equiparables pero que es 14 años más joven. Estos boxeadores ya se midieron en un campeonato de Italia en agosto de 2021 vencido por la mínima por Picardi, así que ambos necesitarán importantes ajustes para intentar evitar acabar en un choque nuevamente demasiado contendido para sus intereses.
En el respaldo se desarrollará además un campeonato de Italia por el vacante cinturón del peso mosca entre Tommaso Melito 5(1KO)-7-1 y Samir El Kadimi 6(4KO)-1-1.
De todos modos, para la mayoría de aficionados el evento más relevante del viernes será el que organizará Wasserman y que se desarrollará en el York Hall de Londres, Reino Unido, televisado por Channel 5. En este cartel participarán dos boxeadores en una situación muy diferente como el prospecto del peso superligero Harlem Eubank 15(6KO)-0 y el exretador mundial del peso medio Liam “The Machine” Williams 23(18KO)-4(1)-1.
En el caso de Eubank, primo de Chris Eubank Jr., está avanzando como profesional sin demasiados problemas, y el viernes sólo buscará una victoria de preparación más contra Tom Farrell 21(5KO)-5(1) antes de empezar a apuntar al cinturón británico. Por su parte, Williams, que pese al coraje mostrado en la segunda mitad tuvo una actuación nefasta contra el mismo Chris Eubank Jr. (ante el que sufrió knockdowns por meros jabs), buscará regresar a la senda del triunfo ante el duro francés Nizar Trimech 9(4KO)-3(1)-2, que en el último año ha ofrecido tres muy buenas actuaciones como visitante (en las que padeció dos empates controvertidos y una derrota polémica).
Al margen de dichos duelos, el viernes se producirán también estos otros:
-En el Zenith Nantes Metropole de Nantes, Francia, RMC Sport televisará un evento con dos combates bien emparejados como el encuentro del peso superwélter entre David Papot 26(4KO)-0-1 y Bilel Jkitou 15(6KO)-1 y el choque del peso gallo entre Loic Trajan 7(5KO)-1 y el mexicano Rosendo Hugo Guarneros 19(9KO)-5(1)-2.
-En el Palais des Sports de Cahors, Francia, se producirá un combate del peso ligero entre dos excampeones nacionales franceses como Anthony Riviere 10(2KO)-4(1)-1 y Mehdi Sellami 15(3KO)-2.
-En Moscú, Rusia, emitido por Match Tv y Boets Tv, el prospecto del peso semipesado Vasily Voytsekhovsky 9(5KO)-0 buscará seguir desarrollándose ante su compatriota David Gladun 7(4KO)-1(1).
-En el Korakuen Hall de Tokio, Japón, se producirá una interesante revancha de un igualado encuentro del peso superpluma entre Takuya Uehara 18(11KO)-1, que ganó la primera pelea por un punto de diferencia, y su compatriota Ryusei Ishii 9(6KO)-7(2)-1.
-En el Casino Gran Madrid de Torrelodones, España, en principio emitido por el YouTube de DAZN, se producirá un campeonato de España por el vacante cinto del peso ligero entre Brian Peláez 12(2KO)-6(1) y Gadatamen Taylor 5(0KO)-10-1 y un combate en teoría demasiado sencillo para el peso supermedio Damián Biacho 13(3KO)-0 ante el venezolano Juan Carlos Rodríguez 18(17KO)-3(2).
Sábado 26 de noviembre
El único campeonato mundial masculino de la semana será entre el exmonarca mundial Regis Prograis y el exretador mundial José Zepeda, que se verán las caras en un combate que se presenta muy entretenido e interesante. Previa siguiendo el enlace.
En el semifondo se desarrollará una muy buena pelea por los títulos IBF-WBO del peso minimosca entre dos campeonas unificadas como Evelin Bermúdez y Yokasta Valle, mientras que antes de ese enfrentamiento en la velada participarán los prospectos Charles Conwell, Bakhodir Jalolov y Francisco Vargas Jr. Previa siguiendo el enlace.
Otro de los eventos destacados de la jornada será el organizado por Matchroom Boxing y emitido por DAZN, siendo el combate estelar una pelea del peso pesado en la que el exretador mundial Dillian Whyte buscará regresar a la senda del triunfo, tras su derrota ante Tyson Fury, enfrentándose al invicto estadounidense Jermaine Franklin. En la cartelera principal del Whyte-Franklin se disputará un buen campeonato británico del peso pesado entre Fabio Wardley y Nathan Gorman, se desarrollará un choque del peso semipesado con consecuencias en las listas mundiales entre Craig Richards y Ricards Bolotniks y los prospectos Pat McCormack y Sandy Ryan afrontarán peleas de desarrollo ante, respectivamente, Christian Andino y Anahí Sánchez. A la misma hora, y también en Reino Unido, en concreto en el O2 Arena de Londres y televisada por BT Sport, tendrá lugar una velada de Frank Warren en la que los británicos Zach Parker 22(16KO)-0 y John “The Gorilla” Ryder 31(17KO)-5(1) afrontarán un choque crucial para sus carreras. En juego estará el título interino WBO del peso supermedio, que convertirá al ganador en retador de Canelo Álvarez o en campeón mundial si el mexicano deja su cinto vacante.
Aunque Parker entrará al choque con una inactividad de un año causada por la patética actitud de Demetrius Andrade (que por dos veces afirmó que iba a enfrentarse a él y que por dos veces se retiró de la pelea), desde su polémica victoria sobre Darryll Williams ha mostrado una pegada y una capacidad de definición magníficas, precisamente lo que le falta a un Ryder que tendrá desventaja en dimensiones y que suele tener problemas para mantener un ritmo constante. Así que, si no es que esta vez despliega una presión intensísima, Ryder perfectamente podría perder ante la potencia en la distancia media y larga de Parker.
Acompañando a este choque combatirán cuatro invictos prospectos de la compañía de Frank Warren: el peso medio, 10º WBO y 12º WBC, Hamzah Sheeraz 16(12KO)-0 buscará coronarse campeón de la Commonwealth ante el exretador al título inglés River Wilson-Bent 13(6KO)-1-1; Dennis “The Menace” McCann 13(7KO)-0 tratará de capturar el mismo título, pero en la división del peso supergallo, ante Joe Ham 17(6KO)-3; el peso ligero Sam Noakes 9(9KO)-0 intentará conqusitar también un cinto de la Commonwealth ante Calvin McCord 12(2KO)-0; y el peso superligero irlandés Pierce O’Leary 10(6KO)-0 disputará su primer duelo a diez rounds ante el namibio Emmanuel Mungandjela 16(7KO)-3-1.

-En el Hall Omnisports «La Préalle» de Lieja, Bélgica, el 9º WBO del peso ligero Francesco Patera 26(9KO)-3 buscará mantenerse activo combatiendo contra el resistente y competente Giuseppe Carafa 16(3KO)-5-2.
-En el Red Owl Performance Centre de Brampton, Canadá, se producirá un combate del peso wélter entre dos púgiles que necesitan un impulso como Vlad Panin 15(8KO)-1 y Zsolt Daranyi 18(17KO)-1.
Domingo 27 de noviembre
En el Alexandra Palace de Londres, Reino Unido, televisado por Sky, la compañía Boxxer, evitando coincidir con los eventos del sábado de Hearn y Warren, organizará el domingo una velada con algunos choques interesantes.
Entre ellos destaca el campeonato británico por el vacante cinto del peso crucero entre Mikael Lawal 16(10KO)-0 y David Jamieson 9(6KO)-1, revancha de un duelo a tres asaltos ganado por Lawal en 2019. Además, entre otros cruces, el prometedor peso supermedio Lerrone Richards 16(3KO)-0 se enfrentará a Zak Chelli 12(6KO)-1-1 y el peso superligero Adam Azim 6(5KO)-0 afrontará su mayor test hasta la fecha ante Rylan Charlton 9(4KO)-3(1)-1.

After this Sunday, the boxing season will only have three busy weekends left before entering the Christmas holidays and its consequent drop in number of fights. Thus, in the days from November 25 to 27 we will be entering the last intense part of the boxing year and there will be some events that can be paid attention to.
Friday, November 25
Friday’s biggest title bout will be an European Union championship for the vacant bantamweight belt at the PalaBoni in Mantua, Italy, broadcast through YouTube.
The challengers will be two boxers with similar professional numbers but a great difference in terms of amateur career, since one will be Vincenzo Picardi 8(1KO)-0, who has extensive experience in amateur boxing, and the other will be Cristian Zara 9(3KO)-1, fighter with no comparable achievements but who is 14 years younger. These boxers clashed in an Italian championship (in August 2021) won by minimum difference by Picardi, so both will need to make important adjustments to try to avoid ending up again in a fight too contested.
In addition, Tommaso Melito 5(1KO)-7-1 and Samir El Kadimi 6(4KO)-1-1 will battle in an Italian championship for the vacant flyweight belt.
In any case, for the majority of fans, the most relevant event on Friday will be the one organized by Wasserman at York Hall in London, United Kingdom, televised by Channel 5. The only men’s world championship of the week will be between former world champion Regis Prograis and former world challenger José Zepeda, who will face each other in a potentially very entertaining and interesting fight. Read more following the link.

Although Parker will enter the bout with a year-long inactivity caused by the pathetic attitude of Demetrius Andrade (who twice claimed he was going to fight him and twice withdrew from the match), since his controversial victory over Darryll Williams he has shown magnificent punch and finishing ability, precisely what Ryder lacks. On top of it, “The Gorilla” has size disadvantage and often has trouble maintaining a consistent pace. So, if he doesn’t put on intense and regular pressure, Ryder could very well lose in front of Parker’s power at long and mid range.
Supporting this clash, four undefeated prospects from Frank Warren’s stable will step into the ring: 10th WBO and 12th WBC middleweight Hamzah Sheeraz 16(12KO)-0 will seek to be crowned Commonwealth champion against former English title challenger River Wilson-Bent 13 (6KO)-1-1; Dennis “The Menace” McCann 13(7KO)-0 will try to capture the same title in the super bantamweight division against Joe Ham 17(6KO)-3; lightweight Sam Noakes 9(9KO)-0 will also try to win a Commonwealth belt against Calvin McCord 12(2KO)-0; and Irish super lightweight Pierce O’Leary 10(6KO)-0 will face his first ten-round duel against Namibian Emmanuel Mungandjela 16(7KO)-3-1.
