El Josh Taylor vs. Jack Catterall II se producirá el 4 de marzo

Después de que haya transcurrido casi un año desde la primera pelea y de que se haya tenido que aguardar varios meses más de lo esperado el anuncio oficial de la revancha, finalmente Boxxer ya está preparada para confirmar el segundo duelo entre Josh Taylor y Jack Catterall. Este campeonato mundial WBO del peso superligero se producirá el 4 de marzo en The Hydro, Glasgow, Reino Unido, esperándose que la promotora dé una conferencia de prensa la próxima semana para anunciar la pugna.
Recordemos que el primer duelo terminó con mucha polémica por el veredicto de decisión dividida a favor de Taylor, que visitó la lona una vez, si bien es justo señalar que los comentaristas de Sky se sesgaron mucho a favor del púgil de la promotora, en este caso Catterall, y agravaron la controversia de forma artificial.
En cualquier caso, aunque en principio Taylor padecía desde hace tiempo problemas con el peso y en su día incluso se habló de que la revancha ante Catterall podría ser a peso pactado, finalmente el combate se desarrollará en el peso superligero y tendrá título en juego. Por otro lado, de momento las cuotas de apuesta tienen a Taylor como favorito, siendo Catterall el no favorito con cifras en torno al 9/4 (3,25 € por euro apostado).
Dejando al margen el interés que tiene de por sí el combate, también será importante ver qué pasará con el cinturón WBO superligero tras el choque, puesto que si Taylor gana y, como se espera, deja vacante su corona para ascender al peso wélter, seguramente se ordenará una pelea mundialista entre el número 1 del ranking Teófimo López y el número 2 Liam Paro.

After almost a year has passed since the first fight and after waiting for several months longer than expected for the official announcement of the rematch, Boxxer is finally ready to confirm the second bout between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall. This WBO world super lightweight championship will take place on March 4 at The Hydro, Glasgow, United Kingdom, with the promoter expected to hold a press conference next week to announce the fight.
The first duel ended with much controversy due to the split decision verdict in favor of Taylor, who suffered a knockdown, although it is fair to point out that the Sky commentators were very biased in favor of the Boxxer’s fighter, in this case Catterall, and artificially aggravated the controversy.
In any case, and although in theory Taylor suffered weight issues for a long time and there was even talk that the rematch against Catterall could be a catchweight, finally the fight will take place at super lightweight and will have the world title at stake. On the other hand, at the moment the betting odds have Taylor as a favorite, Catterall being underdog around 9/4.
Letting aside the interest the fight has in itself, it will also be important to see what happens to the WBO super lightweight belt after the clash, since if Taylor wins and, as expected, vacates his crown to move up to welterweight, surely the World Boxing Organization will order a title bout between the number 1 in the ranking Teófimo López and the number 2 Liam Paro.
