Declaraciones de Sebastián Fundora, Brian Mendoza, Brandun Lee y los demás participantes en la velada de PBC del 8 de abril

El calendario de eventos confirmados por parte de Premier Boxing Champions sigue creciendo, ya que el conglomerado confirmó un evento para el 8 de abril en el Dignity Health Sports Park de Carson, Estados Unidos, que estará encabezado por el aspirante obligatorio WBC del peso superwélter Sebastián Fundora enfrentándose a un Brian Mendoza que viene de su mayor victoria profesional.
En el comunicado oficial, Fundora señaló:
“Estoy bien preparado para este enfrentamiento. Estoy entrenando duro, como siempre, y estoy listo para ofrecer un gran espectáculo para los fans de Carson otra vez. Prevemos un gran combate de Mendoza. Espero que traiga su mejor versión para que así podamos darles a los fans el valor de su dinero. Cada pelea es importante, así que vamos ahí a ganar y llegar a donde quiero ir, y eso es ser campeón mundial de la división de las 154 libras”.
Por su parte Mendoza señaló:
“Tengo otra gran oportunidad delante de mí el 8 de abril. Como en mi último combate, acepto mi rol de no favorito para así poder sorprender al mundo. No estoy satisfecho con sólo pelear por un título mundial, voy a seguir trabajando día tras día hasta que salga del ring con el cinturón alrededor de mi cintura. Pásame por alto bajo tu propio riesgo, porque voy a por todas”.
En el combate coestelar, el prospecto del peso superligero Brandun Lee se enfrentará al mexicano Pedro Campa intentando lograr ante éste una victoria más contundente que Teófimo López. Lee señaló:
“Este es mi primer combate coestelar, así que es importante para mí mostrarle al mundo del boxeo quién es Brandun Lee y a dónde pertenezco en la división. Pedro Campa es un verdadero veterano mexicano que puede encajar un puño y dar otro, así que tengo que estar alerta todo el tiempo. Los fans pueden esperar una actuación explosiva por mi parte. Estoy deseando combatir delante de mi familia y amigos, pero más importante, estoy deseando estar bajo las grandes luces el 8 de abril”.
En cuanto a Campa, este dijo:
“Estoy muy motivado por estar en una gran cartelera como esta. He visto un poco de Brandun Lee y tengo una buena idea sobre qué tengo que hacer para ganar este combate. Estoy listo para enfrentarme a la mejor versión de Lee y mostrar que tengo la experiencia y la fuerza para salir victorioso. Mi plan es que me levanten el brazo el día 8 de abril y darle a la gente de mi ciudad de Guaymas algo que celebrar”.
La cartelera emitida por Showtime se iniciará con un cruce entre dos invictos peso pluma en el que el dominicano Luis “Twist” Núñez se verá las caras con el mexicano Christian Olivo. Núñez señaló:
“Estoy muy agradecido por estar de regreso con otra oportunidad en Showtime. Voy a representar a mi gente de República Dominicana como un guerrero orgulloso. Olivo es un peleador excelente y esta va a ser una dura pelea, pero mi experiencia, mi fuerza y mi habilidad girarán las cosas a mi manera”.
Por último, Olivo afirmó:
“Estoy emocionado por hacer mi debut en Estados Unidos en un escenario tan grande. Estoy agradecido a mi equipo por darme esta oportunidad. Creo que nuestros estilos harán un gran combate y que al final los fans serán los ganadores. Voy a dar todo lo que tengo en el ring para hacer que el público recuerde mi nombre. Me enfrento a un gran boxeador, pero estoy listo para el reto”.

The schedule of confirmed events by Premier Boxing Champions continues to grow, as the conglomerate announced an event for April 8 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, USA, which will be headlined by WBC super welterweight mandatory challenger Sebastian Fundora facing Brian Mendoza, who is coming off his biggest professional victory.
In the official press release, Fundora said:
“I’m well-prepared for this matchup. I’m training hard, as usual, and I’m ready to put on a great show for the fans in Carson all over again. We expect a great fight from Mendoza. I hope he brings his best so that we can give the fans their money’s worth. Every single fight is important, so we’re going in there to win and get to where I want to be, and that’s world champion of the 154-pound division.”
For his part, Mendoza stated:
“I have another big opportunity in front of me on April 8th. Just like in my last fight, I’m embracing the role of underdog so I can shock the world. I’m not satisfied with just fighting for a world title, I’m going to keep working day after day until I walk out of the ring with that belt wrapped around my waist. Sleep on me at your own risk, because I’m coming for everything.”
In the co-main event, super lightweight prospect Brandun Lee will face Mexican Pedro Campa trying to outperform Teófimo López. Lee said:
“This is my first co-main event, so it’s important for me to go and show the boxing world who Brandun Lee is and where I belong in the division. Pedro Campa is a true Mexican veteran who can take a punch but also give one, so I have to be alert at all times. The fans can expect an explosive performance from me. I’m looking forward to performing in front of my family and friends but most importantly, I’m looking forward to being under those bright lights on April 8th.”
As for Campa, he said:
“I’m very motivated to be on a great card like this. I’ve seen a little bit of Brandun Lee and I have a good idea of what I need to do to win this fight. I’m ready to face the best version of Lee and show that I have the experience and strength to come out victorious. My plan is to have my hand raised on April 8th and give the people in my hometown of Guaymas something to celebrate.”
The main card broadcast by Showtime will begin with a clash of undefeated featherweights in which Dominican Luis «Twist» Núñez will face off against Mexican Christian Olivo. Núñez stated:
“I’m very thankful to be back for another opportunity on Showtime. I’m coming to represent my people of the Dominican Republic as a proud warrior. Olivo is an excellent fighter and this will be a tough fight, but my experience, my strength and my skills will twist things my way.”
Lastly, Olivo said:
“I’m thrilled to be making my U.S. debut on such a big stage. I’m thankful to my team for giving me this chance. I believe that our styles will make a great fight and that in the end, the fans will be the winners. I’m going to give everything I have in the ring to make the public remember my name. I’m going up against a great fighter, but I’m ready for this challenge.”
