Kane Gardner remontó con buen boxeo difícil comienzo ante Conah Walker

Después de la cancelación del Arthur-Suárez, hubo un cambio en el orden de la velada y el choque del peso superligero Conah Walker 11(3KO)-2-1 vs. “Sugar” Kane Gardner 16(7KO)-2 se produjo después del Arthur-Crighton. En dicho cruce, Walker comenzó muy bien y pareció encaminado hacia el triunfo, pero Gardner ajustó cuando más lo necesitaba y con buen boxeo logró asegurarse la victoria (la puntuación del juez-árbitro fue un ligeramente excesivo 78-76).
En el comienzo Gardner intentó abrir el ring para reducir la presión de Walker, pero este último siguió atacando y con un cruzado diestro lo movió en el segundo round, acompañando este éxito con nuevas andanadas. La motivación de Walker aumentó, lo que conllevó más ofensivas por su parte y que Gardner se mantuviese más tiempo cerca de las cuerdas y teniendo que lidiar con golpes de poder. Este último hizo lo que pudo por contragolpear e intentar hacerse respetar con sus directos y efectuó alguna buena esquiva, pero Walker continuó impactando duros ganchos arriba y abajo
Ante esta situación, en la que su adversario estaba muy cerca de asegurarse el empate, Gardner ajustó aumentando de nuevo su movilidad, lo que le permitió llegar con algunos afilados jabs y cortos directos ante un Walker que perdió velocidad de piernas y ritmo y que ya no los recuperó. Así, aunque en ocasiones Walker impactó de forma aislada manos llamativas, por lo general Gardner esquivó bien, generó serios problemas tácticos y llegó con sus directos de forma regular para superar con su boxeo a su oponente, que durante la segunda mitad no tuvo éxitos lo suficientemente consistentes como para evitar que se le escapase el triunfo.
A pesar de que su triunfo ante Marios Matamba fue cuestionable y ante Walker volvió a tener dificultades, Gardner se mantiene en una racha de cuatro victorias y parece estar evolucionando un tanto, por lo que de seguir así es de suponer que participará en un campeonato inglés o en una eliminatoria para la disputa del mismo.

Antes del inicio de la cartelera principal, el peso superpluma kazajo, top 15 en tres organismos, Sultan Zaurbek 14(10KO)-0 cumplió con lo esperado y superó su rodaje ante el argentino Reuquén Arce 15(7KO)-9(3)-2 con un KOT en el quinto episodio, quedando a la espera de que alguien le sitúe de una vez en un serio paso adelante. Por otro lado, la velada se cerró con un previsible triunfo a los puntos (39-37) de la prospecta británica del peso mosca Chloe Watson 5(0KO)-0 ante la argentina Romina Gisel Sosa 3(0KO)-2(1)-4.

After the cancellation of the Arthur-Suárez bout, there was a change in the order of the evening and the super lightweight clash Conah Walker 11(3KO)-2-1 vs. “Sugar” Kane Gardner 16(7KO)-2 came after the Arthur-Crighton fight. Walker started very well and seemed on his way to a win, but Gardner adjusted when he needed it most and with good boxing managed to secure the win (the judge-referee score was a slightly too wide 78-76).
At the beginning Gardner tried to move to reduce Walker’s pressure, but the latter continued to attack and with a right hook he rocked his opponent in the second round, following this success with new barrages. Walker’s morale increased, which led him to threw more offensives while Gardner spent more time on the ropes having to deal with power shots. The latter did what he could to counterpunch with his straight hands to try to slow down his opponent and made some good dodges, but Walker kept hitting him with hard hooks up and down
In this situation, in which his opponent was very close to securing at least the draw, Gardner adjusted by increasing his mobility again, which allowed him to land some sharp jabs and short right hands against Walker, who lost leg speed and pace and who did not get them back. Thus, although Walker occasionally connected isolated eye-catching hands, Gardner generally dodged well, created clear tactical problems and landed his straight shots regularly to outbox his opponent, who during the second half did not have consistent enough success to prevent losing the bout.
Despite the fact that his victory against Marios Matamba was questionable and against Walker he had difficulties again, Gardner is on a four-win streak and seems to be evolving, so if he continues like this it is to be assumed that he will participate in an English championship or in an eliminator to fight for that title.
