El enfrentamiento coestelar del evento Zepeda-Arboleda también terminó en el segundo episodio, si bien con un ganador contra pronóstico. Y es que el favorito Diego de la Hoya 24(11KO)-2(2) tuvo una muy mala actuación y fue noqueado por el estadounidense Victor Morales 18(9KO)-0-1, que obtuvo así la mayor victoria de su carrera hasta la fecha.
Ya fuese por que enfrentarse a su primer rival con aspiraciones desde su derrota ante Ronny Ríos le amedrentó o por cualquier otro motivo, el hecho es que De la Hoya, que no estaba en un estado de forma óptimo, fue inferior desde el inicio. En los cruces de jabs del comienzo Morales estuvo mejor y conectó algunos directos diestros, mientras que las escasas ofensivas de De la Hoya fueron precipitadas y desordenadas.
En el comienzo del segundo asalto De la Hoya estuvo lento en un intercambio y recibió una derecha que le dejó tocado, insistiendo en sus ataques Morales hasta derribarlo con un gancho zurdo al rostro. De la Hoya se levantó con dificultad y, aunque en la reanudación intentó oponer resistencia con sus curvos, Morales fue más contundente y certero con sus hooks y lo volvió a poner en el tapiz, no levantándose esta vez durante la cuenta.
En un pasado no muy lejano, De la Hoya fue considerado un destacado prospecto pero su derrota ante Ríos de 2019 fue un severo varapalo del que no se recuperó con tres victorias ante jornaleros. De hecho, ante Morales pareció desmotivado, aunque esto no debe ser usado para quitarle mérito al ganador, que entraba por detrás en las apuestas, estuvo más que a la altura del combate y cumplió su misión a la perfección, entrando ahora en una nueva fase en su carrera en la que le esperan pugnas de calado.

The co-main event of the Zepeda-Arboleda evening also ended in the second round, albeit with an upset. The betting favorite Diego de la Hoya 24(11KO)-2(2) had a very bad performance and was knocked out by American Victor Morales 18(9KO)-0-1, who thus achieved the biggest victory of his career to date.
Whether he was intimidated by facing his first opponent with aspirations since his loss to Ronny Rios or for whatever other reason, the fact remains that De La Hoya, who was not in top form, was inferior from the start. Early on Morales was better with the jab and landed some straight right hands, while De La Hoya’s sporadic attacks were hasty and lacked technique.
At the beginning of the second round, De La Hoya was slow in an exchange and received a right hand that hurt him, so Morales insisted on his attacks until he dropped him with a left hook to the face. De La Hoya got up with difficulty and, although after the restart he tried to offer resistance with his hooks, Morales was more forceful and accurate with his power punches and put him back on the mat, the boxer not getting up this time during the count.
In the not-too-distant past, De La Hoya was considered a good prospect, but his loss to Ríos in 2019 was a hard setback from which he did not recover with three victories against journeymen. In fact, against Morales he seemed unmotivated, although this should not be used to take away credit from the winner, who stepped into the ring as the underdog, rose to the ocassion and fulfilled his mission perfectly, now entering a new phase in his career in which important fights await him.
