Los triunfos en el primer round son casi siempre engañosos, dado que muchas veces se producen por un hecho fortuito o un error puntual y no debido a que exista una gran diferencia entre los combatientes. En cualquier caso, no hay mejor manera de zanjar una competencia entre dos boxeadores, tras un primer combate terminado en cuestionable empate, que lograr un rápido y contundente triunfo. Así lo hizo anoche el italiano Mauro Forte 18(8KO)-0-2, que hizo valer su mejor arma, su contundencia a una sola mano, para derrotar a su compatriota Francesco Grandelli 16(3KO)-2(1)-2.
Después de dos minutos de analizarse sin casi tirar golpes, Forte impactó un par de izquierdas rectas que fueron una seria advertencia de lo que iba a pasar en unos instantes. Y es que posteriormente sacó un potente y preciso cruzado zurdo que derrumbó a Grandelli sobre la lona. Éste se levantó en mal estado y a duras penas se tambaleó hasta una de las esquinas, donde el árbitro, mirándole a los ojos y pidiendo que avanzase hacia él, no se mostró conforme con el estado que presentaba el boxeador y decretó el KOT.
De ese modo, Forte no sólo recuperó el impulso perdido con el empate contra Grandelli, sino que ahora su moral está en un estado mejor que el de antes y puede apuntar a más ambiciosos objetivos repleto de confianza.
En cuanto a los campeonatos de Europa femeninos que compusieron el respaldo, las italianas y las francesas se repartieron los éxitos: por un lado, la campeona de Europa del peso supermosca, la local Stephanie Silva 8(0KO)-0, derrotó por decisión unánime (96-94, 96-94, 97-93) a la aguerrida y combativa gala Mailys Gangloff 8(2KO)-4, mientras que por el otro la italiana Simona Salvatori 8(2KO)-1 fue vencida por amplia decisión unánime (90-100, 91-99 y 92-98) por la francesa Johanna Wanyou 9(2KO)-0, que se hizo con el vacante título de Europa del peso gallo.

First-round wins are almost always deceptive, since many times they occur by chance, or due to a single mistake, and not because there is a great difference between the fighters. In any case, there is no better way to settle a rivalry between two boxers, after the first fight ended in a questionable draw, than to score a quick and resounding victory. This is what the Italian Mauro Forte 18(8KO)-0-2 did last night, as he used his best weapon, his one-punch power, to defeat his compatriot Francesco Grandelli 16(3KO)-2(1)-2.
After two minutes of analyzing each other without throwing hardly any punches, Forte landed a couple of straight lefts that were a serious warning of what was going to happen in a few moments: a bit later, Forte connected a powerful and precise overhand left that dropped Grandelli hard. He got up in a bad state and staggered to one of the corners, where the referee, looking at his eyes and asking him to move towards him, deemed the boxer unfit to continue and stopped the bout.
Thus, Forte not only regained the momentum lost with the draw against Grandelli, but now his morale is in a better state than before and he can aim for more ambitious goals full of confidence.
As for the women’s European championships that took place in the undercard, Italians and Frenchs had mixed success: on the one hand, the European super flyweight champion, the local Stephanie Silva 8(0KO)-0, defeated by unanimous decision (96-94, 96-94, 97-93) the tenacious and combative French Mailys Gangloff 8(2KO)-4, while on the other the Italian Simona Salvatori 8(2KO)-1 was defeated by wide unanimous decision (90-100, 91-99 and 92-98) by the French Johanna Wanyou 9(2KO)-0, who conquered the vacant European bantamweight title.
