En el Palais des Sports de Castelnau-le-Lez, Francia, emitido por PPV, el invicto peso superligero Bastien Ballesta 25(5KO)-0-1, excampeón de Francia y de la Unión Europea, disputará su mayor pelea hasta la fecha enfrentándose al veterano excampeón de Europa Yvan “Le Lion” Mendy 47(22KO)-6-1. Además de poner a prueba su evolución e intentar subir algunos puestos en el ranking IBF (en el que es 14º), Ballesta intentará empezar a tantear cómo de lejos está del nivel de los demás clasificados enfrentándose a un Mendy duro, competente y con mucha experiencia pero que llega de perder en el peso ligero contra el muy venido a menos plata olímpico Denys Berinchyk.
Viernes 12 de mayo
El viernes se desarrollará una velada de Frank Warren desde el York Hall de Londres, Reino Unido, emitida por BT Sport 1, en la que el oro mundial juvenil Willy “Braveheart” Hutchinson 15(11KO)-1(1) se medirá al fogueadísimo argentino Ezequiel Osvaldo Maderna 29(19KO)-10(4). Durante años, Maderna ha sido un jornalero que ha sufrido derrotas en todos sus combates destacados, pero el pasado enero se anotó quizás la mayor victoria de su carrera venciendo contra todo pronóstico al prospecto Karol Itauma con un KO en cinco rounds. Así, ante éste Hutchinson, compañero de escuadra de Itauma, buscará continuar asentándose en el peso semipesado y sumar rounds útiles, así como darle un impulso a su moral, a la vez que trata de mostrar que él ya no se dejará volver a sorprender después de su derrota contra pronóstico ante Lennox Clarke.
En el combate estelar el prospecto del peso crucero Ellis Zorro 15(6KO)-0 disputará su primer combate desde su dura pugna ante Dec Spelman enfrentándose a Hosea Burton 28(12KO)-3(2), que sufrió su última derrota ante el campeón británico y europeo Dan Azeez. Además, en el respaldo, el citado Karol Itauma 9(7KO)-1(1) intentará regresar a la senda del triunfo ante un rival de nivel bajo como Khalid Graidia 10(2KO)-9(1)-4, y el prospecto polaco del peso crucero Michal Soczynski 6(3KO)-0 hará comparaciones con Cheavon Clarke enfrentándose a su último oponente, el panameño Israel Duffus 20(17KO)-9(4).
El viernes tendrá estos otros combates mencionables:
-En el Place Bell de Montreal, Canadá, la excampeona mundial del peso minimosca Kim Clavel 16(3KO)-1 intentará regresar a la senda del triunfo, tras perder su cinturón ante Jéssica Plata, enfrentándose a la mexicana Naomi Arellano 9(5KO)-2, que en su último choque perdió ante Gabriela Fundora.
-En el Polideportivo Juan S. Millan de Culiacán, México, ESPN Knockout emitirá un combate del peso minimosca en el que Mario Gutiérrez 9(6KO)-4(1)-1 buscará dar continuidad a su gran victoria contra pronóstico sobre Héctor Flores midiéndose a su compatriota José Javier Torres 15(9KO)-2(1), que en su pugna más reciente perdió por reducida diferencia ante el ahora monarca mundial del peso mínimo Daniel Valladares.
Sábado 13 de mayo
La compañía Top Rank ofrecerá por ESPN una cartelera encabezada por dos campeonatos mundiales. En uno el monarca WBO del peso medio Janibek Alimkhanuly se enfrentará a Steven Butler y en el otro Jason Moloney y Vincent Astrolabio batallarán por el vacante cinturón WBO del peso gallo. En esta jornada también se producirá el mundial WBA del peso superligero entre Rolando “Rolly” Romero e Ismael Barroso, choque que llega después de que Alberto Puello fuese degradado a campeón en receso por un positivo en control antidopaje. En el respaldo de este evento de PBC y Showtime, Omar Juárez afrontará un serio test ante el excampeón cubano Rances Barthelemy y Botirzhon Akhmedov y Kenneth Sims Jr. se verán las caras en una eliminatoria WBA. Por otro lado, en el Okada Manila Hotel and Casino de Parañaque, Filipinas, emitido por Fite, el excampeón mundial John Riel “Quadro Alas” Casimero 32(22KO)-4(1) afrontará su segundo combate desde que fue desposeído de su cinturón enfrentándose a un rival directo en el ranking WBO del peso supergallo como el namibio Fillipus Nghitumbwa 12(11KO)-1. Casimero es 5º (varios púgiles clasificados por encima de él seguirán otra ruta) y Nghitumbwa es 10º, por lo que la previsible victoria del primero, además con título menor WBO en juego, le ayudará a asegurarse el acceso a una eliminatoria final.
Acompañando a este encuentro se producirán interesantes duelos entre japoneses y filipinos, ya que el exretador mundial superwélter Takeshi Inoue 19(11KO)-2-1 se verá las caras con el invicto local Weljon Mindoro 10(10KO)-0; el peso mosca Ayumu Hanada 10(8KO)-1-1, 14º IBF, combatirá contra el número 15 del mismo ranking, el exretador mundial Vince Paras 18(15KO)-2-1; y el invicto peso supergallo Jun Ikegawa 4(1KO)-0-2 afrontará un duro test ante el experimentado Carlo Demecillo 16(9KO)-6(2)-2.
Por último, en el Estadio Luna Park de Buenos Aires, Argentina, con emisión de TyC Sports, se desarrollará una cartelera que estará encabezada por tres boxeadores locales que tiene aspiraciones internacionales, si bien estos pugnarán contra púgiles ante los que serán muy claros favoritos: el peso supermedio Pablo Ezequiel Corzo 14(12KO)-0, 7º WBA, se enfrentará al colombiano Juan Boada 14(8KO)-4(2), que tras un par de rápidas derrotas logró sorprender a un invicto argentino en su último combate; el campeón de Sudamérica del peso ligero Juan Javier “Titán” Carrasco 17(10KO)-1(1) expondrá su cinturón contra el brasileño Eduardo Costa Do Nascimento 9(5KO)-2, que viene de un tropiezo en Letonia; y el 14º WBC y 15º WBA del peso superligero José Rosa 20(14KO)-0 combatirá contra el colombiano Germán del Castillo 11(8KO)-3(1)-2, que hace un par de combates derribó dos veces al entonces invicto argentino Hugo Roldán.
El sábado también tendrán lugar estos otros combates:

-En The Agenda en Dubái, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, el 7º WBC del peso superpluma, el cubano Jadier Herrera 10(8KO)-0 tratará de subir algún escalón en el ranking pagando por un título menor WBC en un enfrentamiento ante el británico Jeff Ofori 12(3KO)-4(2)-1.
-En el Stadthalle de Offenbach, Alemania, como parte de una malísima velada de DAZN, la alemana Sarah Bormann 15(7KO)-0 y la estadounidense Yadira Bustillos 7(0KO)-0 pugnarán por el título interino WBC del peso mínimo.
-En el Pan American Ballroom de Odessa, Estados Unidos, el peso wélter Rashad Shahid 10(7KO)-0 afrontará su primera prueba a ocho asaltos contra el fogueado José Luis Sánchez 12(4KO)-3(1)-1, que recientemente sólo ha sido derrotado por decisión ante los prospectos Xander Zayas y Jahi Tucker y que anteriormente empató contra Adrián Granados.

At the Palais des Sports in Castelnau-le-Lez, France, broadcast on PPV, undefeated super lightweight Bastien Ballesta 25(5KO)-0-1, former French and European Union champion, will face his biggest fight to date battling veteran former European champion Yvan «Le Lion» Mendy 47(22KO)-6-1. In addition to testing his evolution and trying to climb a few positions in the IBF ranking (in which he is number 14), Ballesta will try to assess how far he is from the level of the other ranked boxers clashing against a tough, competent and experienced fighter but that comes from losing at lightweight against the very faded Olympic silver medalist Denys Berinchyk.

On Friday, the York Hall in London, United Kingdom, will be the venue for an evening organized by Frank Warren, and broadcast by BT Sport 1, in which world youth gold medalist Willy “Braveheart” Hutchinson 15(11KO)-1(1) will face off against the very experienced Argentinian Ezequiel Osvaldo Maderna 29(19KO)-10(4). For years, Maderna has been a journeyman who has suffered losses in all of his notable fights, but last January he scored perhaps the biggest win of his career upsetting prospect Karol Itauma with a five-round KO. Thus, against this fighter, Hutchinson, Itauma’s squadmate, will seek to continue establishing himself in the light heavyweight division and add useful rounds of experience, as well as giving a boost to his morale, while trying to show that, after his unexpected loss to Lennox Clarke, he will not allow any opponent to upset him again.
In the main event, cruiserweight prospect Ellis Zorro 15(6KO)-0 will face his first fight since his tough bout against Dec Spelman facing Hosea Burton 28(12KO)-3(2), who suffered his last defeat against the British and European champion Dan Azeez. In addition, in the support, the aforementioned Karol Itauma 9(7KO)-1(1) will try to return to winning ways against a low-level opponent like Khalid Graidia 10(2KO)-9(1)-4, and Polish cruiserweight prospect Michal Soczynski 6(3KO)-0 will make comparisons with Cheavon Clarke facing his latest opponent, Panamanian Israel Duffus 20(17KO)-9(4).

Casimero is number 5 (several fighters ranked above him will follow another route) and Nghitumbwa is number 10, so the predictable victory of the former (with a WBO minor title at stake) will help him secure access to a final eliminator.
Supporting this match there will be interesting duels between Japanese and Filipinos, as former super welterweight title challenger Takeshi Inoue 19(11KO)-2-1 will face off against the undefeated local Weljon Mindoro 10(10KO)-0; flyweight Ayumu Hanada 10(8KO)-1-1, IBF number 14, will fight against the number 15 of the same list, the former world challenger Vince Paras 18(15KO)-2-1; and undefeated super bantamweight Jun Ikegawa 4(1KO)-0-2 will face a tough test against the experienced Carlo Demecillo 16(9KO)-6(2)-2.
Finally, at the Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina, televised by TyC Sports, three local boxers with international aspirations will headline an event, although they will be very clear favorites to win: super middleweight Pablo Ezequiel Corzo 14(12KO)-0, WBA number 7, will clash against Colombian Juan Boada 14(8KO)-4(2), who after a couple of quick defeats managed to upset an undefeated Argentine in his last fight; South American lightweight champion Juan Javier «Titán» Carrasco 17(10KO)-1(1) will defend his belt against Brazilian Eduardo Costa Do Nascimento 9(5KO)-2, who is coming off a setback in Latvia; and the WBC number 14 and WBA number 15 super lightweight José Rosa 20(14KO)-0 will fight Colombian Germán del Castillo 11(8KO)-3(1)-2, who a couple of bouts ago knocked down twice the then-undefeated Argentinian Hugo Roldán.
