Después de haber mostrado su potencial peleando en el peso ligero y el peso superligero, el joven mexicano José Rodolfo “El Increíble” Macías 17(8KO)-2-2, de sólo 23 años, ha empezado una campaña en el peso superpluma en la que podría lograr importantes victorias. De todos modos, antes de apuntar a grandes objetivos, Macías debutó en la categoría con una victoria por KOT en el cuarto asalto ante un Francisco Rodríguez 13(9KO)-5(4)-1 valiente pero sin gran resistencia.
Aunque Rodríguez insistió con su jab, con su derecha recta y con cortas combinaciones intentando frenar a su contrincante, Macías movió la cintura constantemente para pasar manos, acortó la distancia en momentos inesperados e impactó muy peligrosos cruzados. Los fuertes curvos arriba y abajo de Macías no tardaron en tener efecto en el boxeo de su oponente, que en el segundo asalto movió menos las piernas y pagó el precio de ello en forma de más golpes de poder recibidos en los intercambios.
Rodríguez no se arredró, y conectó certeros hooks en intensos cruces de golpes, pero los éxitos de Macías fueron mucho más constantes y significativos, de modo que, aunque los asaltos se mantuvieron entretenidos y disputados, resultó evidente que era cuestión de tiempo hasta que “El Increíble” causase daños decisivos.
Efectivamente, en el cuarto asalto los puños al torso impactados por Macías afectaron a Rodríguez, que tuvo que bajar la guardia para proteger su cuerpo, permitiendo que su oponente conectase todavía más puños a la cabeza. Después de unos instantes de ser hostigado en las cuerdas y de un breve intento de contraofensiva, Rodríguez recibió un duro curvo zurdo a la cabeza que le obligó a retroceder, siendo golpeado por andanadas hasta que tocó el tapiz. El púgil no pudo levantarse a tiempo durante la cuenta, y el árbitro paró el combate.
Es cierto que Macías era muy claro favorito para ganar y que tiene que hacer algunos ajustes en su defensa, la cual tiene brechas en las que puede trabajar mucho. Sin embargo, Macías tuvo momentos en los que usó sus movimientos de cintura de forma extraordinaria, por ejemplo en un momento en el que impactó un gancho de izquierda abajo, realizó una velocísima esquiva y conectó un gancho zurdo arriba inmediatamente después de ella. Por ello, habiendo sido competitivo o incluso superior a sus rivales boxeando en peleas internacionales, teniendo juventud, gran ritmo y una notable habilidad en desarrollo, Macías podría llegar a participar en importantes eventos si recibe el apoyo necesario y se le escogen los pasos adelante adecuados.

After showing his potential fighting at lightweight and super lightweight, young Mexican José Rodolfo “El Increíble” Macías 17(8KO)-2-2, who is just 23 years old, has begun a campaign at super featherweight, division in which he can achieve important victories. Anyway, before aiming for big goals, Macías debuted in the weight class with a fourth-round TKO victory over a brave boxer, but without much punch resistance, as Francisco Rodríguez 13(9KO)-5(4)-1.
Although Rodríguez insisted with his jab, with his straight right and with short combinations trying to slow down his opponent, Macías constantly moved his waist to dodge hands, closed the distance at unexpected moments and landed very dangerous hooks. Macías’ strong hooks upstairs and downstairs soon had an effect on his opponent’s boxing, since in the second round Rodríguez reduced his mobility and paid the price for it in the form of more power punches received.
Rodríguez did not back down, and landed well-aimed hooks in intense exchanges, but Macías’ successes were much more constant and significant so, although the rounds remained entertaining and contested, it was evident that it was a matter of time until «El Increíble” caused decisive damage.
Indeed, in the fourth round, Macías’ body shots affected Rodríguez, who had to lower his guard to protect his torso, allowing his opponent to connect even more punches to the head. After a few moments of being attacked on the ropes and a brief counteroffensive attempt, Rodríguez received a hard left hook to the head that forced him to step back. After being hit by a barrage of punches, Rodríguez touched the mat, and he was unable to get up in time during the referee’s count, so the fight was stopped.
It is true that Macías was very clear favorite to win and that he has to make some adjustments in his defense, in which he can work a lot. However, Macías had moments where he used his waist movements really well, for example in an action in which he landed a left hook down, made a very fast dodge and landed a left hook to the head immediately after it. For this reason, having been competitive or even superior to his opponents boxing in international fights, being young, having a high pace and a remarkable ability in development, Macías could get to participate in important events if he receives the necessary support and appropriate steps up.
