Triunfos de Nick Ball, Anthony Cacace y Pierce O’Leary en el respaldo del López-Conlan

Situado como 4º WBC del peso pluma, el británico Nick Ball 18(11KO)-0 afrontó una prueba ante el invicto sudafricano Ludumo Lamati 21(11KO)-1(1)-1 en la que quería demostrar que está listo para mayores retos. Pues bien, en este choque Ball, una vez más, minimizó sus puntos débiles y explotó sus cualidades para lograr un triunfo por KOT en el duodécimo asalto.
Con notable ventaja en alcance y velocidad, Lamati generó complicaciones tácticas al comienzo con sus largos rectos, sus ganchos diestros abajo y sus uppercuts diestros. No obstante, Ball ajustó su timing y aprovechó su explosividad para llegar con sólidos jabs, oportunos derechazos y descargar ganchos tras acortar la distancia. La pelea cada vez fue más caótica y con más cruces de golpes en la distancia corta, lo que beneficiaba totalmente al fuerte pero bajito Ball, que empujando hacia las cuerdas a Lamati encontraba huecos para impactar duros hooks que fueron desgastando a su contrincante.
El sudafricano puso mucho valentía y contestó con garra en intensos intercambios prolongadamente, pero Ball se fue llevando los asaltos antes de dejar tocado a Lamati en el décimo round con andanadas de golpes de poder. Pudo parecer que la pelea iba a llegar al final, pero en el último episodio Ball volvió a dañar a Lamati y le hostigó peligrosamente hasta que el equipo visitante lanzó la toalla.
Antes del combate coestelar, el peso superpluma Anthony “The Apache” Cacace 21(7KO)-1 se impuso por merecida decisión unánime al polaco Damian Wrzesinski 26(7KO)-3-2. Las puntuaciones fueron 118-111, 117-111, 116-112.
Inicialmente Cacace no se centró en moverse y contragolpear, sino que intentó tomar la iniciativa buscando generar daños con sus golpes rectos. Sin embargo, posteriormente el tenaz polaco insistió en su avance, arrojó ofensivas con más voluntad que acierto y obligó a “The Apache” a boxear a la contra durante buena parte del tiempo. El avance de Wrzesinski no le permitió tomar el control, sino que Cacace explotó sus ventajas en habilidad, alcance, precisión y astucia para llegar con su jab, contragolpear con buenos directos y cruzados zurdos y ganar la gran mayoría de rounds. Wrzesinski no se rindió, sino que siguió intentando trabajar, por lo que se produjeron algunos buenos intercambios en la distancia media-corta, pero en general el visitante no logró superar a su rival en eficacia y Cacace terminó haciéndose con un claro triunfo.
Respecto al joven prospecto irlandés del peso superligero Pierce “Big Bang” O’Leary 12(7KO)-0, éste tuvo una gran actuación ante sus fans, y demostró una vez más su mejorada pegada, derrotando al rumano Alin Florin Ciorceri 17(7KO)-4(2) en el primer asalto.
Tras varios éxitos con su jab y una buena combinación variando alturas, O’Leary impactó un excelente gancho zurdo a la cabeza que derrumbó sobre la lona a Ciorceri. Éste se alzó, pero no tardó en ser seriamente dañado por uppercuts y hooks, de modo que el árbitro tuvo que intervenir para evitar males mayores.
Antes del inicio de la cartelera principal, el peso supermosca Conor Quinn 6(4KO)-0-1 se anotó una amplia victoria a los puntos (juez-árbitro 80-72) sobre el hispano-peruano Juan Hinostroza 11(5KO)-11-2.

Ranked as WBC No.4 in the featherweight division, British Nick Ball 18(11KO)-0 faced a test against the undefeated South African Ludumo Lamati 21(11KO)-1(1)-1 in which he wanted to show that he is ready for bigger challenges. Well, in this clash Ball, once again, minimized his weaknesses and exploited his qualities to achieve a twelfth-round TKO win.
With a considerable advantage in reach and speed, Lamati created tactical difficulties early on with his long straight shots, his right hooks down and right uppercuts to the head. Nevertheless, Ball adjusted his timing soon and used his explosiveness to connect solid jabs, well-timed right hands and unleash hooks after closing the distance. The fight became more and more chaotic and with more exchanges in the short distance, which totally benefited the strong but short Ball, who, pushing Lamati towards the ropes, found holes to land hard hooks that wore down his opponent.
The South African fighter put a lot of courage and answered with grit in intense exchanges for a long time, but Ball won the rounds consistently before hurting Lamati in the tenth round with barrages of power punches. It seemed that the fight was going to reach the final bell, but in the last round Ball again damaged Lamati and attacked him dangerously until the visitor corner threw in the towel.
Before the co-main event, super featherweight Anthony “The Apache” Cacace 21(7KO)-1 defeated Polish Damian Wrzesinski 26(7KO)-3-2 by deserved unanimous decision. The scores were 118-111, 117-111, 116-112.
Initially, Cacace did not focus on moving and counterpunching, but rather tried to take the initiative looking to generate damage with his straight punches. However, later the tenacious Pole insisted moving forward, launched offensives with more will than accuracy and forced «The Apache» to box and counter for much of the time. Wrzesinski’s aggressiveness did not allow him to take control, as Cacace took advantage of his skill, range, precision and cunning to land his jab, counterpunch with good straight hands and left hooks and win the vast majority of rounds. The visitor did not give up, but kept trying to work, so there were some good exchanges in the short-medium distance, but overall Wrzesinski failed to surpass his opponent in efficiency and Cacace ended up scoring a clear victory.
Regarding the young Irish super lightweight prospect Pierce “Big Bang” O’Leary 12(7KO)-0, he had a great performance in front of his fans, and once again demonstrated his improved punching power, defeating Romanian Alin Florin Ciorceri 17(7KO)-4(2) in the first round.
After several successes with his jab and a good combination changing levels, O’Leary landed an excellent left hook to the head that brought Ciorceri to the canvas. The boxer got up, but soon after the restart he was seriously hurt by uppercuts and hooks, so the referee had to stop the bout to avoid further damage.
Before the start of the main card, super flyweight Conor Quinn 6(4KO)-0-1 scored a landslide points victory (judge-referee, 80-72) over Spanish-Peruvian Juan Hinostroza 11(5KO)-11-2.
