El año 2022 ya ha visto su primer campeonato mundial, llegando este de la mano de un duelo entre la joven monarca argentina Evelin “La Princesita” Bermúdez 15(5KO)-0-1 y la aspirante panameña Yaditza “La Tigrilla” Pérez 14(6KO)-14(2)-1. Este cruce a penas se prolongó, ya que en el tercer round Bermúdez puso fin a la desnivelada contienda con un KOT.
El enfrentamiento no tuvo a penas historia, puesto que Bermúdez avanzó sacando contundentes combinaciones de rectos o abiertos curvos contra una Pérez que trató de evitar daños desplazándose por el ring y tirando toscos golpes disuasorios. La retadora no consiguió mantenerse a salvo, sino que el hostigamiento de Evelin Bermúdez (hermana menor de la actual campeona IBF supergallo Daniela “La Bonita” Bermúdez) fue yendo a más hasta que en el segundo asalto desbordó con una serie a Pérez, que en el descanso llegó hasta su esquina tambaleándose a causa de dos derechas.
El choque debería haber sido parado entonces, pero llegó al tercer episodio, en el que Bermúdez definitivamente desbordó con sus rectos a una Pérez dañada y abrumada, provocando los apuros de la visitante el necesario lanzamiento de la toalla por parte de su esquina.
Es verdad que la oponente que tendía frente a sí no era de nivel alto, pero Pérez es una púgil con buen encaje que, entre otros resultados, resistió diez rounds contra la monarca mundial Yokasta Valle. Por su parte, Bermúdez, que mostró un boxeo realmente eficaz, arrolló a su oponente con afiladísmos y veloces directos, acompañados además de buenas acciones defensivas en ballesta o paso atrás, de modo que hizo parecer muy fácil su victoria.
Con ese nivel, y habiendo sacado incluso un empate como visitante en México contra la dura Silvia Torres, a Bermúdez debería bastarle para derrotar a la gran mayoría de aspirantes y no encontrar grandes retos más allá de las púgiles de la élite. Así, para poder aumentar su prestigio de forma decisiva debería pensar en encarar, quizás tras algunas defensas más, una pugna de unificación o buscar reinar en más de una categoría, ya que de lo contrario, y pese a su calidad, sólo el tiempo y un gran número de defensas terminarán por hacerla más relevante en el esquema general del boxeo femenino.

The year 2022 has already had its first world championship coming by way of a duel between the young Argentine monarch Evelin “La Princesita” Bermúdez 15(5KO)-0-1 and the Panamanian challenger Yaditza “La Tigrilla” Pérez 14(6KO)-14(2)-1. This bout lasted just three rounds before Bermúdez ended the uneven contest with a TKO.
The confrontation had little history. Bermúdez advanced throwing combinations of straight punches against a Pérez who tried to avoid damage by moving around the ring and throwing imprecise dissuasive blows. The challenger failed to stay safe, since the attacks of Evelin Bermúdez (younger sister of the current IBF junior featherweight champion Daniela “La Bonita” Bermúdez) were increasing, until in the second round she damaged Pérez, who reached her corner staggering after the second round finished.
The clash should have been stopped then, but it reached the third round, in which Bermúdez definitively overwhelm Pérez. The visitor’s troubles caused the throwing of the towel by her corner.
It is true that the opponent in front of her was not of a high level, but Pérez is a fighter with a good chin who, among other results, resisted ten rounds against the world champion Yokasta Valle. On the contrary, Bermúdez, who showed a really effective boxing, supressed her opponent with sharp and fast straigh shots, accompanied in addition with good defensive actions, mading her victory seem very easy.
With that level, and having even obtained a draw in Mexico against the tough Silvia Torres, Bermúdez should defeat the vast majority of contenders and not find great challenges beyond the elite fighters. Thus, to be able to increase its prestige in a decisive way, Bermúdez should think about facing, perhaps after a few more defenses, a unification or about starting a reign in another category, since otherwise, and despite her quality, only time and a large number of defenses will end up making her more relevant in the general scheme of women’s boxing.
