Top Rank organizará velada por ESPN encabezada por duelo entre el noqueador Berlanga y el exrival de “GGG” Steve Rolls

En su última subida al ring el noqueador estadounidense de origen puertorriqueño Edgar “The Chosen One” Berlanga 18(16KO)-0 no tuvo precisamente una gran actuación, sino que fue derribado y a duras penas pudo sacar una ajustada victoria por decisión ante el argentino Marcelo Cóceres, veredicto que incluso fue cuestionado por muchos fans.
Aunque el deseo del peso supermedio Berlanga era regresar cuanto antes al cuadrilátero para intentar desquitarse de la mala sensación que le dejó este combate en octubre, un desgarro en el bíceps le mantuvo alejado incluso de los entrenamientos. Con todo, esto ha cambiado y Berlanga ya tiene fecha para volver al cuadrilátero.
Según ha informado primero Keith Idec, se ha llegado a un acuerdo para que Berlanga encabece una velada de Top Rank emitida por ESPN el día 19 de marzo desde la sala Hulu del Madison Square Garden de Nueva York, siendo su contrincante el canadiense Steve Rolls 21(12KO)-1(1). Este púgil es conocido sobre todo por haber sido adversario de Gennady Golovkin en junio de 2019, combate emitido por DAZN en el que “GGG” noqueó a Rolls en el cuarto episodio. De todos modos, Berlanga tiene otro punto de comparación con este púgil, ya que Rolls se midió al igual que él a Demond Nicholson, logrando ambos victorias a los puntos sobre este contrincante.
Así, un Berlanga deseoso de intentar reanudar la impresionante escalada que tuvo antes de empezar a perder algo de impulso y un Rolls que podría estar por edad ante la última gran oportunidad, se enfrentarán en un choque con ciertos alicientes y que seguramente estará respaldado por peleas con la participación de interesantes prospectos, siendo uno de ellos quizás Xander Zayas.

Although Berlanga’s desire was to return to the ring as soon as possible to try to get rid of the bad feeling that this fight gave to him in October, a torn biceps kept him away even from training. However, this has already changed and Berlanga now has a date set to return to the ring.
As Keith Idec has first reported, an agreement has been reached for Berlanga to headline a Top Rank card broadcast by ESPN on March 19 from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. His opponent will be Canadian Steve Rolls 21 (12KO)-1(1). This fighter is best known for having been an opponent of Gennady Golovkin in June 2019, match broadcasted by DAZN in which “GGG” knocked out Rolls in the fourth episode. Added to that, Berlanga has another point of comparison with this boxer, since Rolls fought, like him, against Demond Nicholson, achieving both victories by decision over this opponent.
