Previa: El tremendo noqueador del peso pesado Arslanbek Makhmudov se enfrenta al exretador mundial Mariusz Wach

De momento el destacado prospecto ruso del peso pesado Arslanbek “Lion” Makhmudov 13(13KO)-0 ha avanzando hasta los puestos de 8º WBA y 9º WBC con sólo 22 rounds combatidos. Y es que 10 de sus victorias han sido en el primer asalto y otras dos llegaron sin sobrepasar el tercer round, siendo la pelea en la que más tiempo ha estado sobre el ring la que venció por KOT en el séptimo asalto ante el estadounidense Jonathan Rice, quien posteriormente derrotó dos veces al invicto prospecto Michael Polite Coffie.
Por lo tanto, el púgil de buena carrera amateur y tremenda pegada Makhmudov parece una evidente amenaza para la categoría, incluso aunque todavía no le ha llegado una prueba de la máxima dificultad y aunque le falta experiencia de calidad. Es para tratar de compensar este punto débil por lo que este sábado la promotora Eye of the Tiger Management le situará en un ring en el Casino de Montreal, Canadá, contra un boxeador conocido por su resistencia y su bagaje profesional como el exretador mundial polaco Mariusz “The Viking” Wach 36(19KO)-7(3).
Evidentemente, Wach, que disputó el mundial contra Wladimir Klitschko en 2012, ha dejado muy atrás su mejor momento. No obstante, es un boxeador que nunca ha sido duramente noqueado, llegando sus únicas derrotas antes del límite una por corte ante Povetkin, otra tras una severa fractura en la mano en duelo contra el dopado Jarrell Miller y la restante por detención del árbitro a causa de golpes sin respuesta contra Martin Bakole. Además, después de esta última derrota Wach todavía ofreció un igualado combate contra Dillian Whyte.
Así, y si bien llega de una larga inactividad desde su derrota con amplias tarjetas ante el exaspirante mundial Hughie Fury, Wach nunca ha sido rápidamente vencido ni ha sido dejado tendido en la lona, por lo que supone un buen test a la pegada de Makhmudov, que en esta ocasión no tendrá ventaja en altura sobre su oponente.
Ciertamente, el fortísimo y eficaz Makhmudov es claro favorito para usar sus golpes de poder desde la distancia media y lograr una incuestionable victoria, por lo que hay poco margen para la sorpresa en cuanto a quién se impondrá y seguramente el triunfo no contribuirá mucho al prestigio del invicto. Sin embargo, si el ruso Makhmudov logra anotarse otro contundente knockout derribando al encajador Wach ya no quedará duda de que su pegada es algo realmente excepcional y de que los pesos pesados de la parte alta de la división deberán estar muy alerta.

That is because 10 of his victories had been in the first round and two others came before the end of the third round. The fight in which he has been in the ring the longest is the one he won by TKO in the seventh round against the American Jonathan Rice, who subsequently defeated two times unbeaten prospect Michael Polite Coffie.
Therefore, Makhmudov, boxer with good amateur career and tremendous power, seems an obvious threat in the division, even though he has not yet faced a test of the highest difficulty and he lacks quality experience. It is to try to compensate this weak point that this Saturday the promotional company Eye of the Tiger Management will place him in a ring at the Montreal Casino, Canada, against a boxer known for his resistance and his professional experience: Polish former world challenger Mariusz “The Viking” Wach 36(19KO)-7(3).
Obviously, Wach, who fought in a world championship against Wladimir Klitschko in 2012, has left his best moment far behind.
