Los mejores combates de este fin de semana (24-27/2/2022)

Esta es una semana cargada de actividad, puesto que, añadidas a las veladas que se pudieron ver en anteriores días (como la del Aloyan-Barreto), habrán carteleras destacables del jueves al domingo, incluyéndose entre ellos tres campeonatos mundiales, de los cuales uno será por una corona indiscutida. Así que, sin más preámbulo, abordemos los mejores combates del fin de semana.
Jueves 24 de febrero
En Casino de Montreal, Canadá, GYM y Probellum organizarán una velada en la que el peso superligero con buena base amateur Mazlum Akdeniz 15(8KO)-0 afrontará su mayor pelea hasta la fecha contra el mexicano Erick Encina 14(5KO)-5(2)-1, que hace algo más de medio año cortó como visitante la larga racha de victorias del polaco Damian Wrzesinski. Además, en la cartelera la peso wélter Marie Pier Houle 4(2KO)-0-1 dará también un gran paso adelante en aumento de dificultad enfrentándose a la tres veces retadora mundial argentina Yamila Esther “La Maquinita” Reynoso 12(8KO)-9-3.
Por otro lado, en el Palenque de la Expo de Ciudad Obregón, México, y emitido por UFC Fight Pass, el oro nacional estadounidense Quinton Randall 8(2KO)-0 tratará de posicionarse en la parte baja del largo ranking WBC del peso wélter pugnando por un título menor ante el mexicano Iván “El Elegante” Álvarez 31(21KO)-13(5)-1. En este primer duelo a diez asaltos de su carrera, aunque es un cierto paso adelante respecto a anteriores encuentros y podría extraer de él experiencia, Randall será claro favorito para vencer a un púgil que ha sufrido derrotas en casi todos sus combates de nivel recientes.
En el mismo evento el prospecto del peso ligero Luis “Koreano” Torres 14(9KO)-0 buscará un nuevo triunfo por knockout ante Rodolfo “Rudy” Flores 14(6KO)-5(3).
Un triunfo por detención es el probable resultado también del próximo combate del peso pesado estadounidense, plata en los Golden Gloves, Sonny “The Bronco” Conto 8(7KO)-0, que continuará en su fase de desarrollo profesional enfrentándose a un Mike Marshall 6(4KO)-2(2)-1 que es algo más exigente que sus rivales previos pero que fue vencido por KOT en tres asaltos por el prospecto ucraniano Viktor Vykhryst.
Viernes 25 de febrero
Desde el Whitesands Event Center de Plant City, Estados Unidos, se producirá una velada con tres combates principales en la que el invicto peso medio kazajo Kanat Islam 28(22KO)-0 tratará de mejorar su posición de 8º WBO y poner fin a un año de inactividad peleando por un título menor contra el exretador mundial del peso superwélter Jimmy “Kilrain” Kelly 25(10KO)-2(1), cuyas únicas derrotas llegaron contra el entonces monarca Liam Smith y contra el exaspirante mundial Dennis Hogan.
En cuanto a los otros dos choques estos serán pugnas del peso wélter para dos estadounidenses: Peter Dobson 14(9KO)-0 disputará su primer combate a diez rounds ante el mexicano José Miguel Borrego 19(16KO)-3, y Mark Reyes Jr. 14(12KO)-1 tratará de regresar a la senda del triunfo contra el fogueadísimo y correoso argentino Jonathan Eniz 27(11KO)-17(4)-1.
Por otro lado, en el PalaGoldoni de Vicenza, Italia, Rai Sport 1 televisará el único duelo titular masculino de la jornada, el campeonato por el vacante cinturón de la Unión Europa del peso supergallo, título por el cual combatirán el italiano Luca Rigoldi 25(8KO)-2-2 y el francés Hugo Legros 14(2KO)-1-2. Desde que perdió su título europeo ante Gamal Yafai, Rigoldi suma tres victorias y se ha proclamado campeón de Italia batiendo a un rival invicto, por lo que siendo local y contando con más experiencia de calidad que el titular francés Legros, el italiano parece claro favorito.
En el respaldo Andrea Roncon 18(3KO)-6(2)-1 y Carlo De Novellis 8(0KO)-4-1 pelearán por el vacante cinturón italiano del peso medio.
En cuanto a duelos femeninos, destaca una velada desde el Korakuen Hall de Tokyo, Japón, en la que se producirán dos mundiales de la división del peso átomo. En uno Mika Iwakawa 10(3KO)-5-1 expondrá su corona por segunda vez realizando una revancha ante Nanae Suzuki 10(1KO)-4(1)-1, ante la que tuvo un igualado primer duelo. En el otro la prometedora Eri Matsuda 4(1KO)-0-1, que empató en su primer mundial en su quinto combate profesional, intentará tener mejor suerte peleando por el vacante cetro IBF contra otra una rival nada sencilla, la experimentada exmonarca mundial Ayaka Miyao 24(6KO)-9(4)-2.
Otro de los eventos que se pueden destacar del viernes es el que tendrá lugar en el Vegas City Hall de Moscú, Rusia, emitido por Ren Tv y YouTube, en el cual el prospecto del peso crucero Rashid Kodzoev 8(5KO)-0 finalizará 16 meses de inactividad peleando contra el imbatido cubano, bronce nacional, Lenar Pérez 9(9KO)-0. El combate estelar de esta cartelera también será en el peso crucero, siendo los protagonistas un Magomed Izmailov 0(0KO)-0 que debuta en el boxeo profesional tras una carrera en las MMA enfrentándose al exretador mundial Olanrewaju Durodola 37(34KO)-9(7).
Por lo demás, en el viernes destacan estos otros combates:
-En Playa del Carmen, México, emitido por ESPN Knockout, se producirá un bien emparejado y potencialmente entretenido combate del peso supermosca entre Cuahutli Guerrero 13(6KO)-1(1)-2 y Eric Gamboa 21(11KO)-1.
-En la Ciudad Deportiva Heiner Ugalde de Hatillo (San José), Costa Rica, las exretadoras mundiales Maricela Cornejo 14(5KO)-5 y Abril Argentina Vidal 9(4KO)-1 pugnarán en un decisivo duelo para acercarse al mundial del peso medio por el WBC.
-En el Microestadio Municipal Ricardo Rusticucci de Pilar, Argentina, TyC Sports emitirá un campeonato por el vacante cinturón sudamericano del peso ligero entre el enrachado Agustín Quintana 15(10KO)-1-1 y un Reuquén Arce 14(7KO)-5(1)-2 con un negativo récord parcial de 2-3.
-En el recinto Claridge Events de Bruselas, Bélgica, el prospecto superwélter Nabil Messaoudi 7(7KO)-0 buscará mantener su 100% de knockouts contra un Iván Matute 30(25KO)-4(2) que el pasado año fue vencido por el exaspirante mundial Carlos “Chema” Ocampo.
-En una sala del estadio de Elland Road en Leeds, Reino Unido, se producirá un campeonato regional británico (Central Area) del peso ligero en el que se enfrentarán los invictos Jimmy First 10(3KO)-0 y Justin Newell 13(0KO)-0.
Sábado 26 de febrero
En esta jornada se pondrá en juego un título indiscutido, ya que el monarca mundial WBA, WBC, WBO e IBF del peso superligero, y top 10 libra por libra, Josh Taylor afrontará una defensa obligatoria contra Jack Catterall.

En cuanto a calidad media, el evento más destacado del sábado será el que PBC y Showtime ofrecerán desde Estados Unidos, cartel en el que el que se producirán una eliminatoria superpluma entre Chris Colbert y Héctor Luis García, un mundial supermosca entre Jerwin Ancajas y Fernando Martínez y un buen test para el peso superligero Gary Antuanne Russell ante Viktor Postol.

En estas dos carteleras se concentrará casi toda la actividad más relevante del sábado, si bien en la jornada también pugnará otro nombre destacado, el excampeón mundial cubano Guillermo “El Chacal” Rigondeaux 20(13KO)-2(1), que retornará al ring seis meses después de su controvertida derrota contra John Riel Casimero. Lo hará en el The Lawn Emirates Golf Club de Dubái, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, y ante un joven y voluntarioso púgil con pegada como el filipino Vincent Astrolabio 16(12KO)-3(1), oponente que, de todos modos, debería tener muy complicado tener resultados favorables decisivos si Rigondeaux usa su versión más móvil y defensiva.
Concluyendo con el sábado, aunque no con el artículo, se pueden mencionar estos otros combates:
-En una sala en el Villa Park de Birmingham, Reino Unido, el campeón de Inglaterra del peso superwélter Sam Gilley 13(6KO)-1 pondrá en juego su corona contra el invicto Drew Brown 12(1KO)-0.
-En la Cité des Congrès de Nantes, Francia, el prospecto del peso superwélter Milan Prat 13(10KO)-0 se medirá al joven e invicto ucraniano, aunque sin experiencia de calidad, Bohdan Shtonda 7(3KO)-0.
-En el Royal Armouries Museum de Leeds, Reino Unido, Zahid Hussain 16(2KO)-2(1) y Razaq Najib 12(2KO)-4 disputarán una interesante revancha del duelo vencido por mínima diferencia por Najib en 2019.
-En el gimnasio de Sanman en General Santos, Filipinas, se producirá un combate importante para acercarse al top 15 del peso mosca entre el fogueado Jesse Espinas 20(11KO)-4(1) y el joven Esneth Domingo 15(8KO)-1.
-En el Estadio Municipal Héctor Gallucci de San Lorenzo, Argentina, TyC Sports emitirá un campeonato de Sudamérica del peso supermedio entre el titular Abraham Buonarrigo 10(8KO)-2 y un Juan Gabriel Rizo 10(9KO)-3(2) ante el que será claro favorito.
Domingo 27 de febrero
En este día tendrá lugar una velada de Matchroom Boxing y DAZN que estará encabezada por el campeonato mundial WBO del peso crucero entre el monarca Lawrence Okolie y el aspirante obligatorio Michal Cieslak.

En el respaldo se producirá el debut del oro olímpico Galal Yafai ante Carlos Vado, el campeonato de Europa pluma entre Karim Guerfi y Jordan Gill, un duelo de recuperación para Anthony Fowler ante Lukasz Maciec y una sencilla pugna del peso pesado para Fabio Wardley ante Daniel Martz.

-En el Suntopia de Soja, Japón, el campeón nacional del peso mosca Seigo Yuri Akui 16(11KO)-2(2)-1 tratará de realizar su tercera defensa ante el exposeedor de dicho cetro Takuya Kogawa 32(14KO)-6(1)-1.
-En el Holywings Club de Jakarta, Indonesia, el 3º WBC del peso minimosca Tibo Monabesa 21(8KO)-1(1)-2 intentará consolidar su posición peleando contra el invicto Jayson Vayson 9(5KO)-0-1, que empató contra el actual campeón mundial del peso mínimo René Mark Cuarto.

This is a week full of activity, since, added to the evenings that could be seen in previous days (such as the Aloyan-Barreto), there will be mentionable events from Thursday to Sunday, including three world championships, one of them for an undisputed title. So, without further ado, let’s talk about the best matches of the weekend.
Thursday February 24
At the Casino of Montreal, Canada, GYM and Probellum will organize a card in which super lightweight, with good amateur background, Mazlum Akdeniz 15(8KO)-0 will have his biggest fight to date as a professional against Mexican Erick Encina 14(5KO)-5(2)-1, who a little over half a year ago broke as a visitor the long winning streak of Pole Damian Wrzesinski. In addition, on the undercard welterweight Marie Pier Houle 4(2KO)-0-1 will also take a big step forward facing the three-time Argentine world challenger Yamila Esther “La Maquinita” Reynoso 12(8KO)-9-3.

A stoppage win is also the likely outcome for the upcoming bout for the American heavyweight, silver medalist in the Golden Gloves, Sonny “The Bronco” Conto 8(7KO)-0, who will continue his pro development phase against Mike Marshall 6 (4KO)-2(2)-1, boxer who is somewhat more demanding than his previous rivals but who recently was defeated by TKO in three rounds by Ukrainian prospect Viktor Vykhryst.
Friday February 25
From the Whitesands Event Center in Plant City, United States, will take place a bill in which the Kazakh middleweight Kanat Islam 28(22KO)-0 will try to improve his position of 8th WBO and end a year of inactivity fighting for a minor belt against former super welterweight world challenger Jimmy “Kilrain” Kelly 25(10KO)-2(1), whose only losses came against then-champion Liam Smith and former world challenger Dennis Hogan.
As for the other two matches, these will be welterweight fights for two Americans: Peter Dobson 14(9KO)-0 will have his first ten-round fight against Mexican José Miguel Borrego 19(16KO)-3, and Mark Reyes Jr. 14(12KO)-1 will try to return to the path of victory against tough veteran Jonathan Eniz 27(11KO)-17(4)-1.
From the PalaGoldoni in Vicenza, Italy, Rai Sport 1 will televise the only male title match of the day, a championship for the vacant European Union super bantamweight belt in which will fight Italian Luca Rigoldi 25(8KO)-2-2 and French Hugo Legros 14(2KO)-1-2. Since losing his European title to Gamal Yafai, Rigoldi has obtained three victories and has conquered the Italian belt beating an undefeated opponent. So, fighting as a local and having more quality experience than the French national title holder Legros, Rigoldi seems to be the clear favorite.
In the support Andrea Roncon 18(3KO)-6(2)-1 and Carlo De Novellis 8(0KO)-4-1 will fight for the vacant Italian middleweight belt.
As for female duels, stands out a card from the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, in which will take place two world championships of the atomweight division. In one, Mika Iwakawa 10(3KO)-5-1 will defend her crown for the second time in a rematch against Nanae Suzuki 10 (1KO)-4 (1)-1, against whom she had a difficult first duel and will surely have another this time. In the other, promising Eri Matsuda 4(1KO)-0-1, who draw in her first world championship in her fifth professional fight, will try to have better luck fighting for the vacant IBF title against a hard rival, the experienced former world champion Ayaka Miyao 24(6KO)-9(4)-2.
Another event that can be highlighted on Friday is the one that will take place at the Vegas City Hall in Moscow, Russia, broadcasted by Ren Tv and YouTube, in which cruiserweight prospect Rashid Kodzoev 8(5KO)-0 will finish 16 months of inactivity fighting against the unbeaten Cuban, national bronze medalist, Lenar Pérez 9(9KO)-0. The main clash of this card will also be at cruiserweight, as Magomed Izmailov 0(0KO)-0, after a career in MMA, will make his debut in boxing fighting former world challenger Olanrewaju Durodola 37(34KO)-9(7).
Friday will have this other relevant fights:

-At the Claridge Events in Brussels, Belgium, super welterweight prospect Nabil Messaoudi 7(7KO)-0 will try to maintain his 100% knockout ratio against Iván Matute 30(25KO)-4(2), who was beaten last year by the former world challenger Carlos «Chema» Ocampo.
-At the Elland Road stadium in Leeds, United Kingdom, a British regional lightweight championship (Central Area) will take place in which the undefeated Jimmy First 10(3KO)-0 and Justin Newell 13(0KO)-0 will face each other.
Saturday February 26
An undisputed title will be at stake on this day, as the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF super lightweight world champion, and top 10 pound for pound, Josh Taylor will make a mandatory defense against Jack Catterall. Read more following this link
However, the most outstanding event on Saturday will be the organized by PBC and televised by Showtime, a card in which there will be a super featherweight eliminator between Chris Colbert and Héctor Luis García, a world super flyweight championship between Jerwin Ancajas and Fernando Martínez and a good test for super lightweight Gary Antuanne Russell against Viktor Postol. Almost all of the most relevant activity on Saturday will be concentrated on these two events, although another prominent name will also fight on the day, former world champion Guillermo «El Chacal» Rigondeaux 20(13KO)-2(1), who will return to the ring six months after his controversial loss against John Riel Casimero. He will do so at The Lawn Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and against a young and willful fighter with power, Filipino Vincent Astrolabio 16(12KO)-3(1), boxer that, anyway, will have very difficult to achieve decisive favorable results if Rigondeaux uses his mobile and defensive version.
Concluding with Saturday, though not with the article, these other matches can be mentioned:

Sunday February 27
An evening of Matchroom Boxing and DAZN will take place on this day headlined by the WBO cruiserweight world championship between the champion Lawrence Okolie and his mandatory challenger Michal Cieslak. Read more follwing this link.
