El mexicano Erick Encinia padeció controvertida derrota como visitante ante el invicto Mazlum Akdeniz

El pasado año el mexicano Erick Encinia 14(5KO)-6(2)-1 viajó a Polonia y logró ofrecer una actuación lo suficientemente buena como para regresar a casa con la victoria como visitante ante el enrachado Damian Wrzesinski. La pasada noche nuevamente Encinia ofreció un boxeo eficaz y con el que pareció haberse asegurado otro éxito más, esta vez en Canadá y contra el invicto Mazlum Akdeniz 16(8KO)-0. Sin embargo, dos de los jueces se negaron a reconocer la primera derrota del púgil local y el enfrentamiento terminó con una controvertida derrota dividida para Encinia con cartulinas de justo 96-93 e injustos 93-96 y 94-95.
El enfrentamiento tuvo en líneas generales un mismo desarrollo, con Akdeniz tratando de presionar sin mucha velocidad de piernas a un Encinia que le recibía con decididas combinaciones de curvos. En ocasiones los directos de izquierda del zurdo Akdeniz hicieron diana, pero la respuesta del mexicano siempre fue firme e inmediata, arrojando andanadas de hooks con los que parecía equiparar y superar el trabajo de su contrincante. De hecho, ocasionalmente incluso tomó la iniciativa de forma breve para arrojar contraofensivas intentando evitar dejar dudas.
Es necesario señalar que la buena base técnica de Akdeniz, su orden y su ambición le permitieron dejar algunos asaltos igualados en el comienzo y quizás capturar alguno de los finales, cuando el visitante pareció disminuir su ritmo un tanto y el imbatido pudo aprovecharlo para marcar la diferencia con su precisión. No obstante, asalto por asalto los más numerosos y no poco precisos curvos de Encinia decantaron la mayoría de las acciones de su lado y además Akdeniz perdió un punto por golpear a su rival en la nuca.
En fin, quizás sin la victoria oficial será poco consuelo para Encinia pensar que nuevamente ofreció una gran actuación, con la que demostró otra vez que tiene un muy buen nivel y que sería capaz de lograr triunfos destacables si contase con el apoyo necesario. En cualquier caso, es un rival duro y muy competente que debería recibir nuevas llamadas para poner a prueba a oponentes con aspiraciones. En cuanto a Akdeniz, sobre el papel se anotó su mayor victoria en su segundo combate a diez rounds, si bien realmente lo más positivo para él es que pudo extraer experiencia de calidad y que pudo ver aspectos de su boxeo que necesitan mejora, especialmente su falta de explosividad y de fluidez de desplazamiento.

Last year the Mexican Erick Encinia 14(5KO)-6(2)-1 traveled to Poland and offered a good enough performance to return home with the victory as a visitor against Damian Wrzesinski. Last night Encinia again put in the ring an effective boxing with which he seemed to have secured yet another success, this time in Canada and against the undefeated Mazlum Akdeniz 16(8KO)-0. However, two of the judges refused to recognize the first defeat of the local boxer and the bout ended with a controversial split loss for Encinia with cards of fair 96-93 and unfair 93-96 and 94-95.
In general terms, the confrontation had the same development, with Akdeniz trying to put pressure, without much leg speed, on Encinia, who received him with determined combinations of hooks. At times the southpaw Akdeniz hit his target with straight lefts, but the Mexican’s response was always firm and immediate, throwing hooks with which he seemed to outwork his opponent. In fact, he occasionally took the initiative to launch counteroffensives in an attempt to avoid leaving any doubt.
It is necessary to point out that Akdeniz’s good technical base, his order and his ambition allowed him to generate some close rounds at the beginning and perhaps capture some of the finals, when the visitor seemed to slow down a bit and the unbeaten man was able to take advantage of it with his accuracy. However, round by round, Encinia’s more numerous and not inaccurate hooks were determinant and Akdeniz lost a point for hitting his rival in the back of the head.
In short, perhaps without the official victory it will be little consolation for Encinia to think that he once again offered a great performance, with which he demonstrated once again that he has a very good level and that he would be capable of achieving notable triumphs if he had the necessary promotional support. In any case, he is a tough and very competent opponent who should get new calls to test boxers with aspirations. As for Akdeniz, on paper he scored his biggest victory to date in his second ten-round fight, although really the most positive thing for him is that he could extract quality experience in a fight in which he could see aspects of his boxing that need improvement, especially his lack of explosiveness and of fluidity of movement.
