Félix Alvarado deja vacante su cinturón mundial IBF del peso minimosca

El campeón mundial IBF del peso minimosca, el nicaragüense Félix Alvarado, ha decidido dejar vacante su corona, algo que ha hecho ya oficial ante el citado organismo. La razón principal detrás de esta decisión ha sido su gran dificultad para dar los 49,0 kg (108 lb) que son el techo de la categoría, si bien también se ha visto motivado para dar este paso por el deseo de coronarse en una segunda categoría de peso.
Desafortunadamente, el cambio de división se produce sin que se llegasen a materializar unificaciones ante Teraji, Kyoguchi o Jonathan González, peleas que, además de haber podido resultar muy entretenidas, nos habrían permitido valorar mejor cuál era el nivel de cada uno de ellos y quién merecía más claramente el puesto como número 1 de la división.
En cualquier caso, por ahora nos debemos conformar con la perspectiva de que Alvarado despliegue su tremenda capacidad ofensiva en un interesante peso mosca. En principio, como campeón IBF reinante que deja su cinturón para ascender de división, el organismo debería otorgarle a Alvarado un buen posicionamiento en el ranking del peso mosca no muy lejos del titular Sunny Edwards, a quien podría darle una muy difícil pugna.
Por otro lado, en cuanto al cinto IBF minimosca vacante, uno de los coaspirantes para pelear por él será el sudafricano Sivenathi Nontshinga (ganador de una eliminatoria ante Christian Araneta), siguiéndole por el momento en la lista el mexicano Héctor Flores y el argentino Agustín Gauto.

The IBF light flyweight world champion, the Nicaraguan Félix Alvarado, has decided to vacate his crown, something that he has made official in the aforementioned organization. The main reason behind this decision has been his great difficulty to make weight in the 108 lb (49.0 kg) division, although he has also been motivated to take this step by his desire to be crowned in a second weight.
Unfortunately, the change of division occurs without unifications materializing against Teraji, Kyoguchi or Jonathan González, fights that, in addition to being very interesting, would have allowed us to better assess what the level of each one of them was and who deserved more clearly the position as number 1 in the division.
In any case, for now we must settle for the prospect of Alvarado displaying his tremendous offensive prowess in an interesting flyweight division. In principle, as a reigning IBF champion who vacates his belt to move up, the organization should give Alvarado a good position in the flyweight ranking not far from the titleholder Sunny Edwards, whom he could give a very difficult fight.
On the other hand, as for the vacant IBF light flyweight belt, one of the co-challengers to fight for it will be the South African Sivenathi Nontshinga (winner of an eliminator against Christian Araneta), boxer followed in the list by the Mexican Héctor Flores and the Argentine Agustín Gauto.
