Los prospectos McGrail y Stringer sumaron brillantes triunfos, el mexicano Meneses venció al invicto Maxwell en épica batalla

Como semifondo del evento de Probellum de este viernes se produjo la cuarta victoria como profesional de la destacada promesa británica Peter McGrail 4(3KO)-0, que venció al fogueado mexicano Uriel López 15(7KO)-18(7)-1 con una excelente actuación y un KOT en el cuarto asalto.
Con su gran control de la distancia, sus reflejos y su variedad de recursos, en el arranque McGrail puso de manifiesto su superioridad, que resultó todavía más evidente en un segundo round en el que estremeció repetidamente al duro López con explosivos hooks y tensos rectos. El encaje del mexicano y su valentía le permitieron resistir este asalto y el posterior, en el que de nuevo fue terriblemente sacudido por combinaciones directo-hook, pero en el cuarto episodio tuvo que poner la rodilla en la lona por varios uppercuts precedidos por variados y demoledores golpes de poder. López se puso en pie, pero el tercer hombre decidió que era mejor no dejarle continuar.
Exitoso debut
McGrail no fue el único prospecto que formó parte de la cartelera principal, puesto que el debutante británico Frankie Stringer 1(0KO)-0 obtuvo una muy sólida victoria (juez-árbitro 40-36) ante el lituano Simas Volosinas 7(1KO)-103(8) en un duelo del peso ligero.
Stringer mostró una eficacia sorprendente, imponiendo su jab con perfecta ejecución técnica, mostrando gran timing al contragolpe y atacando con muchísima habilidad y dureza con sus combinaciones en corta, estremeciendo en varias ocasiones a Volosinas. Por ello, aunque su rival no tuviese gran nivel, Stringer evidenció mucho potencial.
Un combate épico
Antes de este choque se produjo una batalla épica entre el excampeón británico del peso superligero Sam Maxwell 16(11KO)-1(1) y el mexicano Alejandro “El Tocino” Meneses 16(9KO)-5(3), quienes dejaron desesperados intercambios y varios cambios de tornas antes de que el visitante venciese por KOT en el noveno round.
En el intenso combate hubo muchos ataques, desorden y constantes descuidos defensivos por parte de ambos, lo que dio emoción pero también favoreció la sensación de descontrol reinante. Sea como sea, inicialmente Meneses supo aprovechar la situación para conectar peligrosas derechas a la contra que sacudieron a su oponente, si bien Maxwell afinó su puntería para posteriormente llegar con buenos directos arriba y hooks al torso.
Parecía que el británico podía recuperar el terreno perdido cuando en el cuarto asalto una derecha en un cruce le derribó. Pese a los apuros, Maxwell logró recuperarse y seguir en la oscilante batalla, en la que con su coraje y precisión volvió a tener resultados positivos antes de quedar duramente afectado por un gancho en un épico séptimo round. En el octavo asalto Maxwell fue dañado de nuevo, pero replicó y estremeció a su oponente con sus uno-dos. Sin embargo, en el noveno episodio Maxwell fue derribado por segunda vez a causa de una derecha y, pese a ponerse en pie, estaba roto, así que Meneses le castigó hasta lograr la detención.

As the co-feature of this Friday’s Probellum event, outstanding British prospect Peter McGrail 4(3KO)-0 obtained his fourth victory as a professional defeating the seasoned Mexican Uriel López 15(7KO)-18(7)-1 with an excellent performance and a TKO in the fourth round.
With his great control of distance, his reflexes and his variety of resources, in the beginning McGrail showed his superiority, which was even more evident in a second round in which he repeatedly rocked the tough Lopez with explosive hooks and tense straight punches. The chin of the Mexican and his courage allowed him to resist this round and the next one, in which he was again terribly rocked by straight-hook combinations, but in the fourth episode he had to put a knee on the canvas after receiving several uppercuts preceded by various devastating power punches. Lopez got to his feet, but the third man decided it was better not let him continue.
Successful debut
McGrail wasn’t the only prospect to participate on the main card, as British debutant Frankie Stringer 1(0KO)-0 earned a very solid victory (judge-referee 40-36) over Lithuanian Simas Volosinas 7(1KO)-103(8) in a lightweight match.
Stringer had surprising efficiency, imposing his jab with perfect technical execution, showing great timing counterpunching and attacking with great skill and determination with his combinations at close range, shaking Volosinas on several occasions. For that reason, although his rival did not have a high level, Stringer showed a lot of potential.
An epic fight
Before this clash there was an epic battle between former British super lightweight champion Sam Maxwell 16(11KO)-1(1) and Mexican Alejandro «El Tocino» Meneses 16(9KO)-5(3), bout that had desperate exchanges and several turnarounds before the visitor won by TKO in the ninth round.
In the intense fight there were many attacks, disorder and constant defensive mistakes by both boxers, which gave emotion but also favored the feeling of lack of control. Be that as it may, initially Meneses took advantage of the situation to land dangerous counter right hands that rocked his opponent, although Maxwell adjusted his aim to later connect good straight punches up and hooks to the body.
It seemed that the British could recover the lost ground when in the fourth round a right hand in an exchange dropped him. Despite the difficulties, Maxwell managed to recover and continue in the oscillating battle, in which with his courage and precision again had positive results before being staggered by a hook in an epic seventh round. In the eighth round Maxwell was hurt again, but charged forward and wobbled his opponent with his one-twos. However, in the ninth Maxwell was knocked down again by a right hand and, despite getting to his feet, his resistance was broken, so Meneses punished him until he achieved stoppage.
