Los mejores combates del fin de semana (29-1/4-5/2022)

En la jornada de viernes habrá un considerable número de combates interesantes que nos prepararán para un sábado en el que se producirán dos eventos encabezados por excelentes duelos con cinturones unificados. Así, en conjunto, este promete ser un muy buen fin de semana boxístico.
Viernes 29 de abril
Aunque el boxeo ruso no esté en su mejor momento actualmente debido a la situación política, el viernes se producirá un interesante combate desde el Vegas City Hall de Krasnogorsk, Rusia, emitido por YouTube y Ren Tv.
En él, el excampeón mundial Fedor Chudinov 25(17KO)-2(1)-1 tratará de mejorar su posición como 10º WBO y 12º WBC del peso supermedio, siendo su adversario el durísimo uzbeko Azizbek Abdugofurov 13(5KO)-1, púgil con buena carrera amateur que demostró su resistencia y tenacidad en su única derrota ante el muy prometedor Pavel Silyagin. De hecho, Abdugofurov es tan competente que si ofrece su mejor versión podría generar un combate realmente complicado a un Chudinov que está en una cuesta abajo en su rendimiento.
Otro de los combates destacados de la jornada será el duelo entre dos invictos como el pegador panameño Rafael Pedroza 12(11KO)-0 y el argentino Héctor “La Maquinita” Sosa 13(8KO)-0, que se verán las caras en el Centro de Convenciones Vasco Núñez de Balboa de Bella Vista, Panamá, con emisión de TyC Sports y Tv Max 9. Además de estar a priori muy bien emparejado y de que existen motivos para considerar posible el triunfo de uno u otro, el choque debería servir para acercar al vencedor de forma importante al top 15 supergallo, así como a una pugna significativa en el ámbito internacional.
En el respaldo, el invicto peso wélter Alexander Durán 20(7KO)-0 volverá al ring tras cerca de dos años y medio de inactividad peleando contra el resistente ecuatoriano Edwin Bennett 15(7KO)-2, mientras que el imbatido mexicano Ramsés “Rayito” Pérez 8(2KO)-0 afrontará su combate más exigente hasta la fecha ante el local Ronal Batista 13(8KO)-2(1), cuya única derrota reciente llegó ante el medallista olímpico “Misha” Aloyan.
También contará con un enfrentamiento entre imbatidos, en este caso del peso superwélter, la velada desde el Sporthall de Budakalász, Hungría, ya que en ella se enfrentarán el local Balasz Bacskai 15(8KO)-0 y el neerlandés Xavier Kohlen 11(5KO)-0. El olímpico por Hungría y oro mundial juvenil Bacskai es un boxeador con cualidades, pero está avanzando a un ritmo más lento del esperado, por lo que quizás Kohlen, un púgil motivado, invicto y con experiencia amateur internacional, puede ser uno de sus tests más relevantes hasta la fecha. No obstante, el visitante carece de bagaje profesional de calidad, sustentando su récord ante rivales muy modestos, por lo que Bacskai será claro favorito.
En el viernes también se puede destacar el combate que sostendrán, televisado por ESPN Knockout, los mexicanos Adrián “Gato” Curiel 19(3KO)-4 y Erick “Habanerito” López 16(10KO)-5(1)-1. Si bien Curiel está más rodado, tiene una limitada pegada que, combinada con su agresividad, le ha llevado a que cuatro de sus seis últimos combates se hayan resuelto con diferencias de puntos muy reducidas. Por ello, y siendo López también un boxeador capaz, aguerrido y que también se ha visto en varias pugnas contendidas, sería sorprendente si este no fuese un combate igualado y entretenido.
Por sus curiosas características, muchos se sentirán interesados por la cartelera emitida a través de Fite desde el Virgin Hotels de Las Vegas, Estados Unidos, dado que en su combate estelar pugnarán dos pesos pesados como James McKenzie Morrison 19(17KO)-0-2, hijo del campeón mundial Tommy Morrison, y Hasim Rahman Jr. 12(6KO)-0, hijo del campeón mundial Hasim Rahman. Al margen de quiénes fueron sus padres, son dos invictos que afrontarán el uno contra el otro su mayor prueba hasta la fecha, de modo que, cuanto menos, deberían ofrecer un buen esfuerzo que nos permitirá valorar mejor de qué están hechos los dos y cuál es su potencial real.
En el semifondo, los invictos estadounidenses Keith Hunter 14(9KO)-1 y Demarius Driver 12(7KO)-0 se medirán en un combate del peso ligero con mucho sentido.
Terminando con la jornada del viernes:
-En la ciudad de Prato, Italia, el campeón nacional italiano del peso superwélter Marco Papasidero 10(1KO)-2-4 afrontará una difícil primera defensa de su cinturón ante el veterano extitular UE Orlando Fiordigiglio 34(14KO)-3(2).
-En el MiR Concert Hall de Moscú, Russia, Match y Boets emitirán una pelea del extop 15 del peso medio Andrey Sirotkin 19(7KO)-2(2)-1, que tratará de rebotar de su derrota ante el prospecto Nursultanov enfrentándose al bielorruso Viktar Murashkin 4(3KO)-2, que llega de dar una sorpresa noqueando a un púgil de buen nivel como Stanyslav Skorokhod.
-En el Celebrity Theater de Phoenix, Estados Unidos, el peso supergallo Darren Cunningham 15(8KO)-1 se medirá al mexicano Ángel Antonio Contreras 11(6KO)-5(2)-2, que sorprendió al prospecto Jalan Walker y sacó ante él un empate.
-En San Blas, México, emitido a través de Facebook, el peso supermedio Elvis Bravo 13(9KO)-2(1) disputará su primer combate a diez rounds ante un púgil de récord engañoso como Joaquín Murrieta 10(8KO)-10(2)-3, un boxeador con varias actuaciones meritorias como visitante.
-En el Centro de Convenciones Mundo Nuevo de Matamoros, México, también emitido por Facebook, el peso medio local Asís Rodríguez 13(9KO)-2 intentará lograr una de sus victorias más significativas ante el fogueado Alexis Gaytán 11(3KO)-8(2).
Sábado 30 de abril
En el considerado mayor combate de la historia del boxeo femenino, la campeona mundial indiscutida del peso ligero Katie Taylor se enfrentará a la monarca unificada del peso pluma Amanda Serrano.

En el respaldo de esta velada de Matchroom Boxing y DAZN se producirá un buen combate del peso superwélter entre los excampeones mundiales Liam Smith y Jessie Vargas, un campeonato por la corona indiscutida del peso supermedio femenino entre Franchon Crews-Dezurn y Elin Cederroos y duelos para los invictos Galal Yafai (oro olímpico) y Austin Williams.

La otra gran velada de la jornada será la organizada por Top Rank y emitida por ESPN, en la cual se producirá una fantástica unificación de cinturones mundiales WBC-WBO del peso superpluma entre dos invictos de gran carrera amateur como Shakur Stevenson y Óscar Valdez.

Con lo arriba mencionado habrá más que suficiente para mantenernos pegados a la actividad boxística el sábado, pero en este día sobresalen también otras peleas, como el campeonato de Europa por el vacante cinturón del peso ligero entre Yvan Mendy 46(22KO)-5-1 y Gianluca Ceglia 17(4KO)-3(1)-1, que se disputará en el Gymnase la Salamandre de Pont-Sainte-Maxence Francia. El italiano Ceglia tiene actividad más reciente y parece estar en el mejor momento de su carrera, lo que debería permitirle ofrecer una buena actuación, pero el local Mendy tiene muchísima más experiencia de calidad y en su mejor versión es un púgil realmente sólido, por lo que parece que debería poder lograr el triunfo y el título.
Si bien la pugna sólo será un rodaje, se debe mencionar la participación en la jornada del excampeón mundial Wisaksil Wangek 50(43KO)-5(2)-1 (Srisaket Sor Rungvisai), que antes de su anunciado combate ante Jesse Rodríguez pugnará en el Suamlum Night Bazaar de Bangkok, Tailandia, con emisión por YouTube. Su rival será el extitular mundial Suriyan Satorn 61(41KO)-13(5)-1, boxeador en mala racha de resultados (récord parcial de 2-8-1) que quizás pueda dar ciertos asaltos útiles pero que no debería generar grandes dificultades a Wangek.
Antes de pasar al domingo se pueden señalar estos otros combates:
-En Ingelmunster, Bélgica, la local, excampeona de Europa del peso wélter, Oshin Derieuw 14(5KO)-0 y la italiana, extitular europea superligero, Silva Bortot 8(2KO)-0-1 se enfrentarán en un duelo de invictas que debería llevar a la ganadora a una gran oportunidad.
-En el Palaboxe Aurelio Santoro de Roma, Italia, será emitido por YouTube un campeonato de Europa por el vacante cinturón femenino del peso supermosca entre las locales Stephanie Silva 5(0KO)-0 y Giuseppina Di Stefano 5(1KO)-0-1.
-En el ABA Stadium de Auckland, Nueva Zelanda, se producirá un campeonato nacional suerpluma femenino en el que la invicta Mea Motu 11(5KO)-0 afrontará su mayor prueba ante la fogueada Baby Nansen 9(1KO)-4-1, que se ha medido a rivales como Mikaela Mayer o Melissa St. Vil.
-En Dangcagan, Filipinas, se enfrentarán los exretadores mundiales Samuel Salva 18(11KO)-1(1) y Jeffrey Galero 17(8KO)-7(3), siendo el primero claro favorito para vencer y ranquearse en alguna de las listas de la división del peso mínimo.
-En el Boxclub Home of Champions-Ka de Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen, Alemania, el hábil púgil de buena carrera amateur Zoravor Petrosyan 12(5KO)-2 tratará de regresar a la senda del triunfo ante el nicaragüense Robin Zamora 16(8KO)-11(5).
Domingo 1 de mayo
Para concluir se puede hacer mención de un combate que tendrá lugar en el Polideportivo Alexis Argüello de Managua, Nicaragua. En él, el exretador mundial, 12º WBA del peso superpluma, Francisco Fonseca 29(23KO)-3(2)-2 buscará lograr su quinto triunfo consecutivo y escalar puestos en el citado ranking peleando por un cinto menor ante el mexicano Andrés “Maravilla” Tapia 18(10KO)-9(2)-4, un púgil resistente que ha padecido sus derrotas ante rivales como el monarca Roger Gutiérrez, el retador obligatorio pluma Luis Alberto López y el hábil Vic Pasillas.

On Friday there will be a considerable number of interesting fights that will prepare us for a Saturday in which there will be two events headlined by excellent duels with unified belts at stake. So, this seems a boxing weekend with a very good potential to entertain us.
Friday, April 29
Although Russian boxing is not at its best at the moment due to the political situation, an interesting match will take place on Friday from the Vegas City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Russia, broadcast trough YouTube and Ren Tv.
In it, former world champion Fedor Chudinov 25(17KO)-2(1)-1 will try to improve his position as 10th WBO and 12th WBC super middleweight against the very tough Uzbek Azizbek Abdugofurov 13(5KO)-1, boxer with a good amateur career that showed his resilience and tenacity in his only loss against the very promising Pavel Silyagin. In fact, Abdugofurov is so competent that if he offers his best version could make for a really tough fight against a veteran Chudinov whose level is decreasing.
Another of the highlighted duels will be between the undefeated Panamanian puncher Rafael Pedroza 12(11KO)-0 and the Argentine Héctor «La Maquinita» Sosa 13(8KO)-0, who will face each other in the Centro de Convenciones Vasco Núñez de Balboa in Bella Vista, Panama, with broadcast of TyC Sports and Tv Max 9. In addition to being a very well matched duel in which there are reasons to consider possible the victory of one or the other, the clash should serve to bring the winner significantly closer to the super bantamweight top 15, as well as to an important fight in the international scene.

Supporting this Matchroom Boxing and DAZN event, will take place a super welterweight bout between former world champions Liam Smith and Jessie Vargas, a championship for the undisputed female super middleweight crown between Franchon Crews-Dezurn and Elin Cederroos and duels for the undefeated Galal Yafai (Olympic gold) and Austin Williams. With the above mentioned there will be more than enough to keep us entertained on Saturday, but on this day other fights also stand out, such as the European championship for the vacant lightweight belt between Yvan Mendy 46(22KO)-5-1 and Gianluca Ceglia 17(4KO)-3(1)-1, which will fight at the Gymnase la Salamandre in Pont-Sainte-Maxence, France. To conclude, a fight that will take place at the Alexis Argüello Sports Center in Managua, Nicaragua can also be mentioned.
