Edgar Berlanga y Xander Zayas encabezarán velada de Top Rank el día 11 de junio

El día 11 de junio, en la noche antes de la celebración en Nueva York del Puerto Rican Day Parade (Desfile del Día de Puerto Rico), Top Rank ofrecerá a través de ESPN, ESPN Deportes y ESPN+ una velada encabezada por dos boxeadores con orígenes puertorriqueños desde el Hulu Theater en el Madison Square Garden de la mencionada ciudad. En el combate estelar combatirá el peso supermedio Edgar Berlanga 19(16KO)-0, 7º WBO que tratará de mejorar su posicionamiento en los rankings enfrentándose, con un título menor en juego, al veterano colombiano Roamer Alexis Angulo 27(23KO)-2(1).
Esta pugna se producirá después de la polémica y nada convincente victoria de Berlanga sobre Steve Rolls del pasado marzo, siendo en cambio para Angulo este su primer combate significativo desde que fue castigado y derrotado por abandono en el décimo asalto a manos de David Benavídez.
En cuanto al semifondo, en él el jovencísimo peso superwélter Xander Zayas 13(9KO)-0 disputará su segundo combate pactado a ocho asaltos enfrentándose al fogueado y veterano uzbeko Ravshan Hudaynazarov 19(14KO)-5(2), que llega de ser derrotado por el invicto Joey Spencer.
En al anuncio oficial, el promotor Bob Arum señaló:
“Los eventos de boxeo en el Madison Square Garden en la víspera del Desfile del Día de Puerto Rico siempre son especiales, y tenemos sensacionales jóvenes talentos como Edgar Berlanga y Xander Zayas encabezando el evento. Cada uno de ellos va a dar un paso adelante en nivel, y preveo que tendrán un gran rendimiento en una arena ruidosa y con entradas agotadas”.

On June 11, the night before the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York, Top Rank will offer through ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ an evening from the Hulu Theater at the Madison Square Garden headlined by two boxers with Puerto Rican origin. In the main event will fight the super middleweight Edgar Berlanga 19(16KO)-0, 7th WBO who will try to improve his position in the rankings by facing, with a minor title at stake, Colombian veteran Roamer Alexis Angulo 27(23KO)-2(1).
This fight will come after Berlanga’s controversial and unconvincing victory over Steve Rolls last March, while for Angulo this will be his first significant bout since he was punished and defeated by corner retirement in the tenth round at the hands of David Benavídez.
As for the co-feature, in it the very young super welterweight Xander Zayas 13(9KO)-0 will have his second eight-round fight against the seasoned Uzbek Ravshan Hudaynazarov 19(14KO)-5(2), who comes from being defeated by the unbeaten Joey Spencer.
In the official announcement, promoter Bob Arum stated:
