Los mejores combates del fin de semana (12-14/5/2022)

Además de una jornada de sábado con mucha actividad, el jueves y el viernes se producirán varios combates mencionables más, por lo que sin duda este debería ser un fin de semana boxístico muy interesante.
Jueves 12 de mayo
En esta jornada se producirá una velada menor de Golden Boy Promotions emitida por DAZN desde el Fantasy Springs Casino de Indio, Estados Unidos. En ella combatirá el excampeón mundial puertorriqueño Ángel “Tito” Acosta 22(21KO)-3(2), que tratará de recuperar moral tras su derrota por KOT ante Junto Nakatani del pasado septiembre. Su contrincante en este duelo del peso mosca será su compatriota Janiel Rivera 18(11KO)-8(3)-3, que viene de haber sufrido cinco derrotas consecutivas (las dos últimas antes del límite) y que parte muy por detrás en las apuestas.
En el respaldo el peso pluma Víctor Morales 15(8KO)-0-1 disputará su segundo combate pactado a diez rounds ante el voluntarioso y competente Alberto Torres 11(4KO)-4-3 quien, no obstante, viene de tres derrotas.
En esta misma jornada, en el Glavclub de Moscú, Rusia, el peso supermedio Edgard Moskvichev 14(4KO)-1-2 afrontará quizás su mayor test como profesional hasta la fecha midiéndose al también ruso Sergey Gorokhov 11(7KO)-4(1)-2 que, entre otras buenas actuaciones, en su última pelea ofreció una muy disputada y exigente batalla contra el 4º WBO Arslambek Idigov. Así, este debería ser un entretenido combate que pondrá a prueba a Moskvichev y nos dará más respuestas sobre su boxeo y su potencial.
Teóricamente el combate estelar del evento será un campeonato de Rusia del peso superligero en el que participará el excampeón mundial Eduard “The Eagle” Troyanovsky 29(24KO)-3(1), si bien no se debe pasar por alto que su rival será un Rustem Memetov 8(3KO)-2(2) que no boxea desde hace ¡diez años y medio!
Viernes 13 de mayo
Matchroom Boxing y OPI ofrecerán a través de DAZN una velada desde Italia en la que el invicto peso supermedio Daniele Scardina se medirá al veterano Giovanni De Carolis. En el respaldo se producirán el campeonato de Europa supergallo Mary Romero vs. Maria Cecchi, el campeonato de Italia supergallo Vincenzo La Famina vs. Matteo Lecca y la pugna del peso wélter entre Maxim Prodan y Luis Enrique Romero.

Por otro lado, en la sala Indigo en el O2 de Londres, Reino Unido, Channel 5 emitirá un muy interesante campeonato británico del peso medio entre el excampeón inglés Linus Udofia 17(9KO)-0 y el extitular británico Denzel Bentley 15(13KO)-1(1)-1. El invicto Udofia es un prospecto con algunas buenas actuaciones pero que todavía no se ha medido a un compatriota de nivel alto. Por su parte, Bentley era un boxeador bien valorado y con proyección antes de ver frenado drásticamente su impulso con su dura derrota ante Felix Cash. Así, dos púgiles con cualidades se enfrentarán para intentar ascender un peldaño respecto a sus situaciones actuales.
En el respaldo, el peso wélter Josh Kelly 10(6KO)-1(1)-1 regresará tras su derrota ante David Avanesyan enfrentándose al modesto albano Xhuljo Vrenozi 18(3KO)-4(3); el peso superligero Harlem Eubank 13(5KO)-0 disputará su segundo combate pactado a diez rounds ante el fogueado exaspirante británico Sean Dodd 17(3KO)-6(3)-1; y el invicto peso medio Brad Pauls 15(9KO)-0 afrontará de lejos su mayor test hasta la fecha contra Ryan Kelly 16(8KO)-3(1).
En el viernes también sobresalen un par de duelos femeninos. Uno tendrá lugar en el Estadio Municipal Hector Gallucci de San Lorenzo, Argentina, televisado por TyC Sports. En él, la excampeona mundial del peso supermosca Débora Anahí Dionicius 32(6KO)-3 buscará defender su título interino WBO del peso pluma ante su compatriota Brenda Karen “La Pumita” Carabajal 17(9KO)-5-1, una dura exaspirante mundial y extitular interina mucho más asentada en la división que será un buen test a las aspiraciones de su rival en el peso pluma.
En el otro choque femenino, que se producirá en el SSE Hydro de Glasgow, Reino Unido, la campeona mundial WBA del peso superwélter Hannah Rankin 11(2KO)-5(1) tratará de realizar la primera defensa de su cinturón, capturado en noviembre ante Maria Lindberg, enfrentándose a la mexicana Alejandra Ayala 14(8KO)-5(1), que de momento ha perdido sus mayores peleas, si bien ante rivales como Savannah Marshall y Marie Eve Dicaire.
En este mismo evento emitido por Fightzone, se producirá un duelo de imbatidos entre el titular de la Commonwealth del peso pluma Nathaniel Collins 10(5KO)-0 y Jacob Robinson 9(2KO)-0.
En la jornada se pueden destacar estos otros combates:
-En el MCKiS Hall de Jaworzno, Polonia, PolSat Sport emitirá un combate en el que el invicto peso superligero Jan Lodzik 6(1KO)-0 disputará una adecuada pelea de desarrollo ante el italiano, exretador al título europeo, Domenico Valentino 11(1KO)-2(1).
-En el Polideportivo Juan S. Millán de Culiacán, México, emitido por Facebook, el invicto peso superpluma Héctor Escobar 13(10KO)-0 tratará de lograr su victoria más significativa hasta la fecha ante José Guerrero 9(2KO)-1-1.
-En Estambul, Turquía, la prospecta local del peso gallo Seren Çetin 9(6KO)-0 afrontará un serio primer test a diez rounds ante la extitular interina austriaca Eva Voraberger 26(12KO)-7(3), que ha sufrido repetidas derrotas en sus intentos al máximo nivel, aunque ante púgiles como Amanda Serrano, Esmeralda Moreno, Raja Amasheh, etc.
-En el Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino de Niagara Falls, Estados Unidos, ESPN Knockout retransmitirá un evento en el que el prometedor peso mosca Anthony Olascuaga 3(1KO)-0 seguirá acumulando bagaje profesional ante el joven mexicano Gustavo Pérez 8(2KO)-0. Además, el invicto peso ligero puertorriqueño Wilfredo Flores 9(5KO)-0-1 tratará de dejar atrás un empate en octubre peleando contra el mexicano Víctor Betancourt Jr. 27(14KO)-4(2).
Sábado 14 de mayo
La jornada contará con varios eventos importantes, aunque el mayor de ellos será el organizado por PBC, en el que Jermell Charlo y Brian Castaño pelearán en una revancha por el título de campeón indiscutido del peso superwélter. En el respaldo, la estrella emergente del peso wélter Jaron Ennis combatirá en una eliminatoria IBF del peso wélter ante Custio Clayton para asegurarse un mundial contra Errol Spence.

Golden Boy Promotions y DAZN ofrecerán hacia la misma hora una velada encabezada por la eliminatoria WBA del peso semipesado entre Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez y Dominic Boesel. El ganador se convertirá en retador obligatorio de Dmitriy Bivol. En el semifondo del Ramírez-Boesel, el pegador “Camarón” Zepeda buscará alargar su cadena de knockouts ante René Alvarado.

El sábado también destaca una prueba importante para el prometedor peso pesado Tony Yoka, que se enfrentará a su primer top 15. Su oponente será el fuerte Martin Bakole.

Otro combate del peso pesado de la jornada será entre el exretador mundial Kubrat Pulev y el peligroso Jerry Forrest, que llega de sacar un empate ante el enrachado Michael Hunter. El combate estelar de este evento será un choque del peso crucero entre el invicto sin poner a prueba Tervel Pulev y el excampeón unificado del peso semipesado Sergey Kovalev.

Aunque será parte del cartel de una absurda exhibición, se debe destacar que en el Burj Al Arab Jumeirah Helipad de Dubái, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, combatirá la excampeona mundial del peso ligero Delfine Persoon 46(19KO)-3(1), recordada sobre todo por sus dos grandes actuaciones ante Katie Taylor. Persoon tratará de dar un paso decisivo para alcanzar un mundial en la categoría del peso superpluma enfrentándose a la francesa Elhem Mekhaled 15(3KO)-0, exigente y motivada púgil que es la oponente de más dificultad a la que se ha medido la belga desde que descendió al peso superpluma.
En este mismo cartel, Ryan Ford 17(12KO)-7(1) y Bilal Laggoune 25(14KO)-3(1)-2 tratarán de regresar a la senda del triunfo en una pelea del peso crucero, mientras que el exmonarca supermedio Badou Jack 25(15KO)-3(1)-3 buscará un sencillo triunfo ante Hany Atiyo 17(12KO)-5(5).
Por otro lado, en el escenario flotante del Elbauenpark de Magdeburgo, Alemania, MDR televisará un evento en el que exretador mundial Adam Deines 20(11KO)-2(1)-1, que tuvo una meritoria pelea ante Artur Beterbiev, afrontará un rodaje en el que intentará escalar puestos en el ranking WBO semipesado. Su rival será el polaco Norbert Dabrowski 24(11KO)-9(1)-2, un púgil experimentado y resistente que teóricamente debería darle rounds útiles al local.
Otro boxeador que buscará subir posiciones en la lista WBO es el peso crucero Roman Fress 15(9KO)-0, si bien este se enfrentará al kosovar Armend Xhoxhaj 13(7KO)-2(2), que previsiblemente perderá antes del límite.
Otros enfrentamientos mencionables de la jornada serán los siguientes:
-En Clermont-Ferrand, Francia, el titular francés del peso wélter Nurali Erdogan 12(1KO)-0 disputará una muy complicada prueba de fuego ante Sandy Messaoud 15(1KO)-6(1), que en sus dos últimos combates ha derrotado a dos invictos, uno de ellos el kazajo Nursultan Zhangabayev.
-En Atizapán de Zaragoza, México, el peso wélter Julio “El Canelito” Luna 18(10KO)-0-2 intentará llevar a diez su cadena de victorias enfrentándose a Jafel Perales 18(8KO)-1(1)-1.
-En The Bomb Factory de Dallas, Estados Unidos, el exretador mundial Charles Hatley 30(21KO)-2(2)-1 disputará su primer combate de 2022 peleando en el peso wélter contra el uzbeko Jamshidbek Najmitdinov 18(14KO)-2(1), más conocido por anotarse un knockdown contra Viktor Postol.
-En el Robert Treat Hotel de Newark, Estados Unidos, el peso wélter de gran carrera amateur Brian Ceballo 12(6KO)-0 pondrá fin a casi un año y medio de inactividad pugnando contra Gerald Sherrell 10(5KO)-2.

In addition to a busy Saturday, there will be other mentionable fights on Thursday and Friday, so this should certainly be a very interesting boxing weekend.
Thursday, May 12
On this day there will be a minor event of Golden Boy Promotions broadcasted by DAZN from the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, United States. In it will take part the former world champion Ángel “Tito” Acosta 22(21KO)-3(2), who will try to recover morale after his defeat by TKO against Junto Nakatani. His opponent in this flyweight duel will be a compatriot, the Puerto Rican Janiel Rivera 18 (11KO)-8(3)-3, who comes from having suffered five consecutive losses (the last two by stoppage) and who is an obvious underdog.
In the co-feature, featherweight Víctor Morales 15(8KO)-0-1 will have his second ten-round fight against the competent Alberto Torres 11(4KO)-4-3 who, however, is coming from three defeats.
On this same day, at the Glavclub in Moscow, Russia, the super middleweight Edgard Moskvichev 14(4KO)-1-2 will face perhaps his biggest test to date against his countryman Sergey Gorokhov 11(7KO)-4(1)-2, boxer that, among other good performances, in his last fight offered a very even and demanding battle against the 4th WBO Arslambek Idigov. So, this should be an entertaining fight that will test Moskvichev and give us more answers about his boxing and his potential.
Theoretically, the main event of the evening will be a Russian super lightweight championship in which will participate the former world champion Eduard «The Eagle» Troyanovsky 29(24KO)-3(1), although it should not be overlooked that his rival will be Rustem Memetov 8(3KO)-2(2), who hasn’t boxed for ten and a half years!
Friday, May 13
Matchroom Boxing and OPI will offer a bill through DAZN in which the undefeated super middleweight Daniele Scardina will face veteran Giovanni De Carolis. On the other hand, in the Indigo at the O2 in London, United Kingdom, Channel 5 will broadcast a very interesting British middleweight championship between former English champion Linus Udofia 17(9KO)-0 and former British champion Denzel Bentley 15(13KO)-1(1)-1. The undefeated Udofia is a prospect with some good performances, but he has yet to fight a high-level countryman. For his part, Bentley was a well rated boxer with projection before losing momentum drastically with his tough loss to Felix Cash. Thus, two fighters with qualities will face each other to try to move up a step from their current situations.
In the undercard, welterweight Josh Kelly 10(6KO)-1(1)-1 will return after his loss to David Avanesyan facing the Albanian Xhuljo Vrenozi 18(3KO)-4(3); the super lightweight Harlem Eubank 13(5KO)-0 will have his second ten-round fight against the experienced former British challenger Sean Dodd 17(3KO)-6(3)-1; and unbeaten middleweight Brad Pauls 15(9KO)-0 will face by far his biggest test to date against Ryan Kelly 16(8KO)-3(1).
On Friday, a couple of female duels also stand out. One will take place at the Estadio Municipal Hector Gallucci of San Lorenzo, Argentina, televised by TyC Sports. The day will feature several important events, although the biggest of them will be the one organized by PBC, in which Jermell Charlo and Brian Castaño will fight in a rematch for the title of undisputed super welterweight champion. In the support, welterweight rising star Jaron Ennis will fight in an IBF welterweight eliminator against Custio Clayton to secure a world title fight against Errol Spence. Around the same time, Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN will offer an evening headlined by the WBA light heavyweight eliminator between Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez and Dominic Boesel. The winner will become the mandatory challenger for Dmitriy Bivol. In the Ramírez-Boesel co-feature, the puncher “Camarón” Zepeda will seek to extend his chain of knockouts against René Alvarado. His rival will be the Polish Norbert Dabrowski 24 (11KO)-9(1)-2, an experienced and resistant fighter who theoretically should give useful rounds to the local.
Another boxer who will seek to move up in the WBO ranking is cruiserweight Roman Fress 15(9KO)-0, although he will face Kosovar Armend Xhoxhaj 13(7KO)-2(2), who will likely lose by stoppage.
Other mentionable clashes of the day will be the following:
