A estas alturas la pelea no vale absolutamente nada boxísticamente hablando, estando claro que se ha buscado únicamente para que Canelo Álvarez (después de los dos controvertidos duelos anteriores) pueda intentar asestarle ahora una clara derrota a un Gennadiy Golovkin en las últimas y con un rendimiento disminuidísimo. Todo ello mientras DAZN intenta a la desesperada rentabilizar las ingentes inversiones que ha realizado. En cualquier caso, ha sido oficialmente confirmado que el día 17 de septiembre, en una sede por anunciar, Canelo y Golovkin pelearán por tercera y última vez en un evento de DAZN que en Estados Unidos y Canadá será emitido en pago por visión.
