Teófimo López regresará el 13 de agosto contra Pedro Campa

Diversas fuentes han confirmado que será el día 13 de agosto cuando el excampeón mundial unificado del peso ligero Teófimo López 16(12KO)-1 regresará al cuadrilátero. Este será su primer combate desde que perdió su récord invicto y sus cinturones a manos de George Kambosos en noviembre de 2021. Cerca de nueve meses después, López encabezará una velada de Top Rank y ESPN enfrentándose al mexicano Pedro Campa 34(23KO)-1(1)-1.
Campa, que no sufre una derrota desde 2017, es un púgil con ciertas cualidades y que cuenta con algunas victorias mencionables, entre ellas su triunfo del pasado marzo ante el invicto Carlos “El Tiburón” Sánchez. No obstante, el año pasado Campa no recibió aprobación por parte de la Comisión Atlética del Estado de Nevada para ser el adversario de José “Chon” Zepeda, decisión que fue cuestionada y controvertida.
Sea como sea, ahora Campa sí ha recibido el permiso para enfrentarse a López y el choque se espera que sea anunciado oficialmente en los próximos días por Top Rank junto a un interesante respaldo.
Además de poner fin a su inactividad, en el duelo López realizará su debut en el peso superligero, categoría difícil en la que pretende alcanzar un nuevo cinturón mundial. Para ello, al margen de mejorar varios aspectos de su boxeo (en especial la defensa), López necesitará cambiar sobre todo su equivocada actitud mental, que parece estar llevándole por un camino de negación de la realidad y falta de autocrítica que podría terminar muy mal para sus intereses.
