Después de derrotas consecutivas ante rivales como Jamal James, Eimantas Stanionis y Jaron Ennis, el exaspirante mundial puertorriqueño Thomas Dulorme 26(17KO)-6(3)-1 encaró la pasada noche una pelea para volver a la senda del triunfo y tener un cierto respiro ante el dominicano Abraham Peralta 19(13KO)-12(12), a quien batió en tres rounds en un choque del peso superwélter.
Dulorme no pareció demasiado rápido en sus acciones, pero tenía mejor ejecución de golpeo y timing. Así, aunque Peralta le llegó con algún tibio recto entre desplazamientos, Dulorme pudo contragolpear con ganchos zurdos antes de que en el segundo asalto una derecha recta dañase a Peralta, quien aparentemente fue derribado por una andanada posterior. No obstante, el árbitro no realizó cuenta, algo que sí hizo más tarde en el mismo round, cuando Peralta, poco depués de un golpe bajo, cayó por un nuevo golpe recto al rostro. El boxeador alcanzó el descanso, pero en éste decidió no salir al tercer episodio.
En cuanto al dominicano, exretador mundial del peso semipesado, Lenin Castillo 23(18KO)-4(1)-1, éste disputó su segundo duelo de recuperación tras su sobrecogedora derrota por knockout ante Callum Smith. En esta ocasión Castillo venció a Wilson Santana 14(9KO)-4(4) en el tercer asalto de un duelo en el peso crucero.
En el arranque Santana avanzó contra su contrincante, encimándose sobre él y lanzando toscos curvos, a menudo entre agarres y con Castillo de espaldas a las cuerdas. Éste no tuvo una gran respuesta en un primer momento, pero posteriormente empezó a anticipase con su uno-dos-hook desde la distancia media, logrando en el segundo asalto derribar a su oponente con una buena combinación jab-derecha abajo-gancho zurdo al rostro, siendo el último golpe el determinante.
La pelea llegó al tercer episodio, en el que varios hooks zurdos pusieron en el tapiz a Santana, aunque el tercer hombre no hizo cuenta. Sea como sea, en la reanudación dos curvos al cuerpo sucedidos por una derecha al rostro, arrojaron nuevamente a la lona a Santana, tirando su esquina la toalla.
Dado que ambos son boxeadores con experiencia de calidad pero que tienen un equilibrio riesgo-beneficio aceptable para sus posibles oponentes, es de suponer que tanto Dulorme como Castillo recibirán propuestas para medirse a púgiles con aspiraciones en el futuro próximo. No obstante, cuanto más cerca estén sus adversarios del nivel de la élite menores serán sus posibilidades de éxito.

After consecutive losses against rivals such as Jamal James, Eimantas Stanionis and Jaron Ennis, last night the Puerto Rican former world title challenger Thomas Dulorme 26(17KO)-6(3)-1 faced an easy fight to return to winning ways against the Dominican Abraham Peralta 19(13KO)-12(12), whom he beat in the third round of a super welterweight clash.
Dulorme didn’t seem too quick in his actions, but he had better punching technique and timing. So, although Peralta landed some weak straight shots between movements, Dulorme was able to counter him with left hooks before a straight right hand hurt Peralta in the second round. The boxer was apparently dropped by a subsequent flurry, but the referee did not count. However, later in the same round, shortly after a low blow, Peralta suffered a knockdown when another straight hand hit his face. The boxer reached the break, but he decided not coming out for the third round.
As for the Dominican, former world light heavyweight challenger, Lenin Castillo 23(18KO)-4(1)-1, he faced his second recovery fight after his brutal knockout loss against Callum Smith. On this occasion Castillo defeated Wilson Santana 14(9KO)-4(4) in the third round of a cruiserweight bout.
At the start Santana advanced over his opponent, getting too close and throwing rough hooks, often between holds and with Castillo with his back to the ropes. The former title challenger did not have a great answer at first, but later he began to use his one-two-hook from the middle distance with positive results. Already in the second round, Castillo knocked down his opponent with a good combination jab-right hook down-left hook to the face, the last shot being the decisive one.
The fight reached the third round, in which several left hooks put Santana on the mat, although the third man did not count. Be that as it may, at the restart two hooks to the body followed by a right hand to the head, dropped Santana again, so his corner threw in the towel.
Given that they are boxers with quality experience but who have an acceptable balance risk-reward for their potential opponents, it is to be assumed that both Dulorme and Castillo will receive offers to face fighters with aspirations in the near future. However, the closer their opponents are to the elite level, the lower their chances of success will be.
