Viendo la posibilidad de sacar beneficio de ello de diversas formas, son muchos los promotores, entrenadores, boxeadores y medios que están apoyando los combates de youtubers y de todo tipo de individuos, degradando el noble arte hasta un punto sin precedentes. Sin embargo, pese a la patética actitud de muchos, el campeón mundial retirado Juan Manuel Márquez se ha posicionado abiertamente en contra de este tipo de “combates”. Entre otras cosas al respecto, Márquez señaló:
“Esto es perjudicial para el boxeo […] Sin miedo a equivocarme en el asunto, lo veo como una falta de respeto. El boxeo es algo que se toma en serio. Entrena, se prepara, el boxeador lo deja todo dentro del ring. No es justo que un youtuber pelee dentro del ring con un antiguo jugador de básquet o con un antiguo jugador de la NFL [fútbol americano]. El boxeo se merece respeto. Esto no es un juego. Cuando peleas una vida está en juego y el respeto por el deporte se ha perdido”.
