Esta noche, en el Resorts World de Las Vegas, Estados Unidos, se producirá el primer combate del excampeón mundial del peso ligero Teófimo López desde su derrota ante George Kambosos Jr. en noviembre de 2021. Además, esta subida al cuadrilátero, que la afrontará ante el mexicano Pedro Campa, supondrá para López su primer paso en una andadura en el peso superligero [63,5 kg o 140 lb].
A diferencia de muchos otros boxeadores que al ascender de división rozan inmediatamente el techo de la división, López estuvo medio kilo (1,2 lb) por debajo del límite con 63,0 kg (138,8 lb). Por su parte, Campa detuvo la romana en la cifra de 63,2 kg (139,4 lb).
En cuanto a quiénes serán los jueces y el árbitro de esta contienda pactada a diez rounds, ha sido confirmado que las cartulinas estarán ha cargo de Tim Cheatham, Patricia Morse Jarman y Dave Moretti, mientras que el tercer hombre en el ring será Tony Weeks.
El enfrentamiento López-Campa será precedido por una nueva pugna para el jovencísimo prospecto puertorriqueño del peso superwélter [69,9 kg o 154 lb] Xander Zayas, que se verá las caras a ocho asaltos contra el mexicano Elias Espadas. De cara a esta pugna, los púgiles dieron cantidades válidas respectivas de 69,4 kg (153 lb) y de 69,7 kg (153,6 lb).
Estos dos enfrentamientos serán televisados por ESPN, ESPN Deportes y ESPN+ desde las 22:00 ET/19:00 PT (las 4:00 de la madrugada en España), mientras que el respaldo previo será emitido por ESPN+ desde las 18:40 ET/15:40 PT (las 00:40 en hora española). En los países en los que no se pueda acceder a una retransmisión de alguna de las ramas de ESPN, parte del evento se podrá ver a través de un PPV de Fite.

Tonight, at the Resorts World in Las Vegas, United States, will take place the first fight of former lightweight world champion Teófimo López since his loss to George Kambosos Jr. in November 2021. In addition, this bout, in which he will face the Mexican Pedro Campa, will be the first step for López in his journey in the super lightweight division [63.5 kg or 140 lb].
Unlike many other boxers who move up and immediately reach the division limit, López was half a kilogram (1.2 lb) under the limit with 63.0 kg (138.8 lb). For his part, Campa stopped the scales at 63.2 kg (139.4 lb).
It has been confirmed that the judges for this clash will be Tim Cheatham, Patricia Morse Jarman and Dave Moretti, while the third man in the ring will be Tony Weeks.
The bout López-Campa will be preceded by a new fight for the very young Puerto Rican super welterweight [69.9 kg or 154 lb] prospect Xander Zayas, who will face the Mexican Elias Espadas in an eight rounder. For this fight, the boxers weighed respectively 69.4 kg (153 lb) and 69.7 kg (153.6 lb).
These two matchups will be televised on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ from 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT, while the undercard will air on ESPN+ starting at 6:40 p.m. ET. /15:40 PT. In the United Kingdom, the card will be broadcast by Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Action from 1:00 a.m. In other countries part of the event can be watched through a Fite PPV.
