Josh Warrington peleará contra peligroso “Venado” López, Joshua Buatsi rechaza enfrentarse a Jean Pascal

Esta ha sido una semana importante para dos boxeadores de Matchroom Boxing con compromisos con la IBF, puesto que se ha acordado un campeonato mundial y se ha desechado una eliminatoria final. Empezando por la pelea titular, múltiples fuentes han informado de que el campeón mundial IBF del peso pluma Josh “The Leeds Warrior” Warrington ha llegado a un acuerdo definitivo con el aspirante obligatorio mexicano Luis Alberto “Venado” López para un enfrentamiento que encabezará una velada de Matchroom Boxing y DAZN en diciembre, siendo esta una pelea realmente peligrosa para el británico.
Warrington llegará a ella tras una fractura de mandíbula padecida en su combate ante Kiko Martínez, al que asestó innumerables deliberados cabezazos sobre los que cimentó su victoria, mientras que el resistente y contundente López lo hará en una racha de nueve victorias, entre ellas el KOT obtenido sobre Isaac Lowe en Reino Unido.
Respecto al otro enfrentamiento, después de que Matchroom Boxing perdiese la subasta de la eliminatoria final IBF del peso semipesado entre Jean Pascal y Joshua Buasti, el segundo ha decidido rechazar disputar este combate.
Dado que era una pelea que Buatsi estaba perfectamente capacitado para ganar, han surgido muchas especulaciones, señalando algunos que a Matchroom Boxing no le gustaba que la pelea pudiese incluirse en una velada de su competidor Frank Warren, mientras otros indican que el problema estaba en los controles antidopaje, no estando su equipo totalmente satisfecho con la ventana de tiempo para los tests de un Pascal que en 2021 dio positivo por esteroides.
En fin, el hecho es que ahora Buatsi tendrá que esperar más para alcanzar un mundial habiendo aspirantes obligatorios seleccionados ya en los otros tres organismos. En cuanto a Pascal, éste en teoría quedará emplazado a disputar la eliminatoria con el joven e inexperimentado alemán Michael Eifert, que en sus tres mayores combates hasta la fecha perdió uno y venció dos ajustadamente.

This has been an important week for two Matchroom Boxing fighters with IBF commitments, as a world championship has been agreed and a final eliminator has been canceled. Starting with the title fight, multiple sources have reported that IBF world featherweight champion Josh “The Leeds Warrior” Warrington has reached a definitive agreement with the Mexican mandatory challenger Luis Alberto “Venado” López for a bout that will headline a Matchroom Boxing and DAZN evening in December, this being a really dangerous match for the British.
Warrington will come to it after a broken jaw suffered in his victory over Kiko Martínez, to whom he deliberately headbutted many times, while the resistant and powerful López will do so in a streak of nine victories, including a TKO obtained against Isaac Lowe in the UK.
Regarding the other matchup, after Matchroom Boxing lost the purse bid of the IBF light heavyweight final eliminator between Jean Pascal and Joshua Buasti, the latter has decided to decline to participate in this match.
Since it was a fight that Buatsi was perfectly capable of winning, much speculation has arisen, with some pointing out that Matchroom Boxing did not like that the bout could be included in a Frank Warren’s card, while others state that the problem was in the anti-doping controls, his team not being entirely satisfied with the amount of tests to which would have been subject Pascal, who in 2021 tested positive for steroids.
