Después de su demoledora victoria ante Denzel Bentley en campeonato británico, que había sido precedida por contundentes triunfos consecutivos por KOT ante Jack Cullen y Jason Welborn, el futuro parecía esplendoroso para el peso medio Felix Cash 15(10KO)-0, pero entonces las cosas se enfriaron un tanto. Finalizando otra inactividad demasiado larga en su carrera reciente, el pasado febrero Cash fue derribado dos veces por el irregular y limitadamente potente Magomed Madiev, púgil que tuvo muchas dificultades contra las piedras de toque rusas Artur Osipov y Evgeny Terentiev.
Así, resultó inevitable que muchos pensasen que era necesario recalcular las previsiones que habían hecho sobre Cash, ya que, si en lugar de haber tenido delante a Madiev hubiese tenido por ejemplo al campeón mundial WBO Janibek Alimkhanuly, habría terminado duramente noqueado.
Ocho meses después del Cash-Madiev, el británico retorna al ring para afrontar un combate que puede ser hasta cierto punto trabajado tácticamente pero quizás menos físicamente. Y es que su rival será el irlandés Connor Coyle 17(7KO)-0, un boxeador invicto, motivado y con extensa carrera amateur, pero que no tiene gran pegada, que nunca ha vencido a un rival de nivel medio-alto y que ha tenido algunas peleas ajustadas ante oponentes modestos. Por lo tanto, Cash será amplio favorito para vencer y recuperar impulso en su escalada en los rankings capturando un cinto menor WBA.
¿Dónde está su techo?
En teoría este combate, que será el semifondo del evento Eubank-Benn que tendrá lugar en el O2 Arena de Londres, Reino Unido, será precedido por el tercer choque como profesional para el oro olímpico Galal Yafai 2(2KO)-0, que tras deslumbrar en los dos anteriores afrontará un buen paso adelante midiéndose en el peso mosca al joven y competente mexicano Gohan Rodríguez 12(1KO)-1-1.
Pese a que el visitante no es un mal púgil, la diferencia en potencia, claridad de golpeo, velocidad y recursos a favor de Yafai parece demasiado grande como para que Rodríguez pueda dar la sorpresa, siendo quizás el mayor interés del combate poder empezar a calibrar mejor en función de la actuación del favorito dónde podría estar su techo en la división, si es que lo tiene.
Eliminatoria extraoficial
La velada también ofrecerá un campeonato de Europa femenino del peso supergallo en el que se enfrentarán la titular española Mary Romero 8(2KO)-2 y la retadora británica Ellie Scotney 5(0KO)-0, siendo este combate realmente una eliminatoria extraoficial entre la 3ª y la 5ª clasificadas WBA. Como Romero llegará a esta pugna tras una de las más deslucidas peleas titulares femeninas del año ante una Maria Cecchi totalmente perdida, la prospecta Scotney, que llega de victorias sobre las excampeonas mundiales María Román y Jorgelina Guanini, será clara favorita.
Si la local se muestra desacertada en su gestión de la distancia y permite a Romero trabajar con sus golpes de poder, la brava campeona continental podría tener resultados positivos. Pero si Scotney usa su buena técnica para controlar las acciones con espacios y sin tomar riesgos innecesarios debería poder lograr una victoria que le acercaría notablemente al mundial contra Mayerlín Rivas.
Resto del respaldo
Completando el evento se desarrollarán otros cuatro enfrentamientos. La inexperimentada peso mosca Chole Watson 3(0KO)-0 se medirá a la fogueadísima excampeona mundial mexicana Nancy Franco 19(5KO)-17(3)-2; la extitular mundial del peso gallo Shannon Courtenay 7(3KO)-2 pondrá fin a un año de inactividad ante Gemma Ruegg 5(1KO)-4; y el peso superligero Harlem Eubank 15(6KO)-0 disputará un rodaje ante el español David Martín Campillo 11(1KO)-3(1)-1 al igual que el peso semipesado Lyndon “King” Arthur 20(14KO)-1(1) ante el argentino César Hernán “El Salvaje” Reynoso 17(8KO)-17(7)-4.

After his crushing win over Denzel Bentley in a British championship, which was preceded by back-to-back TKO wins over Jack Cullen and Jason Welborn, the future looked bright for middleweight Felix Cash 15(10KO)-0, but then things cooled down a bit. Coming from another too-long layoff in his recent career the past February, Cash was knocked down twice by the inconsistent and limitedly powerful Magomed Madiev, a fighter who struggled against Russian stepping stones Artur Osipov and Evgeny Terentiev.
Thus, it was inevitable that many thought that it was necessary to recalculate the projections they had made about Cash, since, if instead of facing Madiev he had faced, for example, the WBO world champion Janibek Alimkhanuly, he would have ended up knocked out hard.
Eight months after the Cash-Madiev fight, the British boxer returns to the ring to face a bout that may be to a certain extent tactically demanding but perhaps less physically. Where is Yafai’s limit?
In theory this fight, which will be the co-feature of the Eubank-Benn event from the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom, will be preceded by the third professional bout for Olympic gold medalist Galal Yafai 2(2KO)-0, who after shinning in his two previous outings will face a good step forward in a flyweight matchup against the young and competent Mexican Gohan Rodríguez 12(1KO)-1-1.
Despite the fact that the visitor is not a bad fighter, the difference in power, clean punching, speed and resources in favor of Yafai seems too great for Rodríguez to achieve an upset, perhaps being the greatest interest of the fight to calibrate better, depending on the performance of the favorite, where his ceiling in the division could be, if he has one.
Unofficial eliminator
The evening will also feature an European women’s super bantamweight championship in which the Spaniard titleholder Mary Romero 8(2KO)-2 and the British challenger Ellie Scotney 5(0KO)-0 will face each other. This fight is also an unofficial eliminator, since the boxers are respectively ranked as 3rd and 5th in the WBA list. As Romero enters this fight after one of the worst female championship fights of the year against a totally lost Maria Cecchi, the unbeaten prospect Scotney, coming off wins over former world champions Maria Roman and Jorgelina Guanini, will be clear favorite.
If the local manages the distance unwisely and allows Romero to work with her power shots, the brave continental champion could have positive results. But if Scotney uses her good technique to control actions with spaces and without taking unnecessary risks, she should be able to achieve a victory that would bring her significantly closer to a world title bout against Mayerlín Rivas.

Completing the event, four other matches will take place. The inexperienced flyweight Chole Watson 3(0KO)-0 will face the very hardened Mexican former world champion Nancy Franco 19(5KO)-17(3)-2; former bantamweight world titleholder Shannon Courtenay 7(3KO)-2 will end a year of inactivity against Gemma Ruegg 5(1KO)-4; and the super lightweight Harlem Eubank 15(6KO)-0 will have a stay-busy fight against the Spaniard David Martín Campillo 11(1KO)-3(1)-1 as will light heavyweight Lyndon “King” Arthur 20(14KO)-1(1) against the Argentinian César Hernán “El Salvaje” Reynoso 17(8KO)-17(7)-4.
