Estaba totalmente claro que O’Shaquie Foster, Archie Sharp y Óscar Valdez estaban en posición de pelear por los dos títulos mundiales que quedaron vacantes una vez que Shakur Stevenson los perdió en la báscula. Con todo, como siempre, el boxeo tenía guardada una jugada inesperada y que llevará finalmente a que Óscar Valdez no tenga que decidir si quiere pelear por el título WBC o el WBO.
Y es que, según ha confirmado el propio WBC, el campeón mundial del Consejo en el peso pluma, el mexicano Rey Vargas, pidió que le dejasen pelear por el cinturón mundial vacante del peso superpluma buscando coronarse campeón en una tercera división. Esta solicitud ha sido aprobada por el WBC, que ha ordenado el inicio de negociaciones entre Vargas y O’Shaquie Foster. El organismo también ha recordado que, conforme a sus normas, el vencedor en este campeonato por título vacante tendrá que realizar dos defensas obligatorias, si bien el WBC ha señalado que próximamente se darán más detalles.
De este modo, se han puesto las bases para un interesante combate mientras se ha delimitado que por el vacante cetro WBO del peso superpluma se enfrentarán Archie Sharp y Óscar Valdez, siendo de esperar que la Organización ordene el combate en los próximos días.
