Mauricio Lara vs. José Sanmartín y Ángel Fierro vs. Jeremy Cuevas confirmados para nuevo evento de Matchroom en México

La cancelación de su enfrentamiento ante Leigh Wood fue un revés inesperado, pero al menos el peso pluma mexicano Mauricio Lara ha recibido pronto una nueva fecha para subirse al ring, además combatiendo en casa. Matchroom Boxing ha anunciado oficialmente que el 22 de octubre, en un recinto por confirmar en Ciudad de México, México, “Bronco” Lara se enfrentará al peso supergallo colombiano José Sanmartín, boxeador voluntarioso pero que ha perdido cinco de los seis mayores choques de su carrera.
Ha sido confirmado también que esta velada emitida por DAZN contará en su semifondo con un combate del peso ligero en el que el local Ángel Fierro tratará de recuperarse de su empate ante Juan Carlos Burgos midiéndose al estadounidense Jeremy Cuevas, mientras que el invicto peso wélter estadounidense Reshat Mati buscará su primera victoria a diez asaltos contra el mexicano Diego Santiago Sánchez.
Lara pretende alcanzar una pelea titular después de entretener a los fans de su país:
“Todavía quiero convertirme en campeón mundial, nada de lo que ha pasado me ha hecho parar de seguir ese objetivo. Han pasado dos años desde la última vez que peleé en Ciudad de México, y estoy muy emocionado por volver con mi gente. Quiero darles una victoria abrumadora y espero conseguir la prometida oportunidad por título mundial”.
Por su parte, un agradecido Sanmartín confía en tener el bagaje necesario para encarar este duelo:
“Estoy más que emocionado por esta oportunidad de enfrentarme a un gran peleador como Mauricio Lara. Creo que ya me he enfrentado al mejor peleador de las 126 libras, que es Navarrete, así que tengo la experiencia para vencer a Lara el 22 de octubre. Quiero darle las gracias a mi promotor Shane Shapiro y a Sean Gibbons por esta oportunidad que me puede cambiar la vida. ¡Viva Colombia!”

The cancellation of his matchup against Leigh Wood was an unexpected setback, but at least Mexican featherweight Mauricio Lara has received soon a new date to step into the ring and, what’s more, fighting at home. Matchroom Boxing has officially announced that on October 22, at a venue to be confirmed in Mexico City, Mexico, “Bronco” Lara will face Colombian super bantamweight José Sanmartín, a tenacious boxer but who has lost five of the six biggest bouts of his career.
It has also been confirmed that this evening broadcast by DAZN will feature, as a co-main event, a lightweight fight in which the local Ángel Fierro will try to recover from his draw against Juan Carlos Burgos battling the American Jeremy Cuevas, while the undefeated American welterweight Reshat Mati will seek his first victory in a ten-round fight clashing against Mexican Diego Santiago Sánchez.
Lara intends to reach a title fight after entertaining the fans of his country:
“I still wish to become world champion, none of what has happened has stopped me from it. It’s been two years since I last fought in Mexico City, and I am so excited to be back with my people. I want to give them an overwhelming win and to hope I get the promised World title opportunity.
For his part, a grateful Sanmartín thinks that he has the necessary experience to face this challenge:

I believe that I have fought the best fighter already at 126lbs which is Navarrete, so I have the experience to beat Lara come October 22.
