Liam Davies sobre su combate contra Baluta: “Pienso que estará en posición para ser golpeado y que eso jugará a mi favor”

El británico Liam Davies está avanzando como profesional a un muy buen ritmo y en doce combates ya se ha proclamado campeón inglés del peso gallo, campeón británico del peso supergallo (derrotando al enrachado Marc Leach) y ahora busca coronarse campeón de Europa del peso supergallo. Este nuevo objetivo tratará de culminarlo venciendo al rumano, residente en España, Ionut Baluta en una velada que se producirá el 19 de noviembre en el Telford International Centre de la ciudad de Davies, Telford (Reino Unido).
Ofreciendo declaraciones respecto a este compromiso, primeramente Davies hizo mención a boxear en casa:
“Es bueno para mí y para la ciudad realmente traer de vuelta el boxeo. Eso es lo que quería hacer, siempre ha sido parte del plan y ahora estoy en una posición en la que está sucediendo, así que estoy agradecido”.
Respecto a boxear frente a sus fans, el púgil afirmó:
“Recibo muchos comentarios localmente. La última vez fue genial, vendimos muchas entradas y estaba lleno. Esta vez estoy seguro de que habrá incluso más ojos encima, siendo esta otra gran pelea. Te da ese extra de motivación para hacer el trabajo porque, al estar en tu ciudad, te quieres asegurar de ganar luciendo”.
Finalmente, en cuanto a su rival, Davies piensa aprovecharse de su agresividad para lograr la victoria:
“Baluta ha tenido algunas buenas victorias y lanza muchos golpes, así que pienso que estará en posición para ser golpeado y que eso jugará a mi favor. Definitivamente será mi pelea más dura y todas están llegando en el momento adecuado para mí. Estoy en racha ahora, ascendiendo y encararé cada pelea como venga. El título de Europa es otro paso adelante y estoy más que listo”.
Por otro lado, la nota de prensa de Frank Warren incluyó una brevísima aunque contundente declaración de Baluta, que simplemente señaló:
“No puedo esperar para este combate. El cinturón es mío. Davies, te vas a arrepentir de haber aceptado este combate”.

British Liam Davies is advancing as a professional at a very good pace and in twelve fights he has already been crowned English champion at bantamweight, British champion at super bantamweight (defeating Marc Leach) and now he seeks to conquer the European super bantamweight title. He will try to culminate this new objective by defeating the Romanian, resident in Spain, Ionut Baluta in an evening that will take place on November 19 at the Telford International Center in Davies’ city, Telford (United Kingdom).
Offering statements regarding this fight, Davies talked about boxing at home:
“It is good for myself and the town really, bringing boxing back. That is what I wanted to do, it was always part of the plan and now I am in a position where it is happening, so I am grateful”.
Regarding boxing in front of his fans, the fighter said:
“I get a lot of feedback locally. Last time it was great, we sold a lot of tickets and it was busy. This time I am sure there will be even more eyes on it, with it being another big fight. It gives you that bit more motivation to do the business because, with it being in your hometown, you want to make sure you win in style.
Lastly, as for his opponent, Davies plans to take advantage of his aggressiveness to achieve victory:
“Baluta has had some good wins and he throws a lot, so I think he will be there to be hit and that will work in my favour. It will definitely be my toughest fight and they are all coming at the right time for me. I am on a roll now, on the way up and I will take every fight as it comes. The European title is another step up and I am more than ready.”
On the other hand, Frank Warren’s press release included a very brief but forceful statement by Baluta, which simply stated:
“I can’t wait for this fight. This belt is mine. Davies, you will feel sorry for accepting this fight.”
